    1000% correct Jay! I love my KTM EXC-f. I wish I had pulled the trigger sooner.

    Agree Jay! I find myself doing more organized DS rides as I view the better ones as non-competitive enduros although we always have the guy in our group that try’s to “win” the dual sport! 😂

    My buddies and I got old and switched from enduros to dual sports. To me its all about seat time. I wanta be in the saddle 100 to 150 miles.

    Great video. I have to be quite honest, I clicked on the video because I thought the bike was a Suzuki. That being said, 55 year old here and I'm getting into the dual sport / adventure market myself, oh yeah the 350 is awesome looking !

    Got into dual sport riding a few months ago! Riding a street triple for a few years everyone told me I was going to hate my little 300L but man I’m finding myself enjoying it more than going out with sportbike guys who just want to speed and hoon around. And being 24 I’m usually the youngest of the bunch but I do enjoy riding with more experienced and calmer riders!

    They seem to be extremely popular. On the rare occasion that I see one at a dealership they always say the same thing." Oh, that one is already sold".

    I run plates on mine. You can really put a plate on any trail bike like a beta 390 and have a duel sport.

    It's just not worth owning a regular trail bike anymore, at least in CA. Being able to legally ride everywhere is a game changer.

    Now that my MX days are far behind me. Last raced an mx at 58 years old, 7 years ago. I only like riding tight technical single track on a light bike IE: 125,150, 200. 3 hours = 15 miles usually. I don't like riding fast much or on pavement, too many deer and crazy, texting drivers in cages.

  • @noControl556

    I've done all three a bunch, currently own all three, street, dirt, dual sport. Dual sporting is fun if you are riding street and dirt as part of your ride day, like for me it's riding forest service roads, but it's not a "do it all bike". Not great having a heavier bike with street legal tires if you are going to spend all day off road on more gnarly trails or want to hit a mx track where you can setup something like an XC for both MX and woods. If you aren't a knee dragger you can still have a lot of fun on the street with a dual sport, but any dirt capable tire is going to wear out really fast on the street and kiss it goodbuy in 2k miles if you want to ride much highway at all. Really depends on the bike though, to get one light enough to not be a liability on the dirt, you aren't going to have that smile inducing acceleration on the street you can get out of a 100hp+ street bike.

    I agree Jay, but what I also learned is there are dual sport bikes, and then there are dual sport bikes. I came off a 300 where I was racing and doing trail riding for years. I purchased a 500 and loved it for a couple of years, but it just didn’t give me enough. About six months ago I purchased an 890 Adventure R and this in this my opinion is a true dual sport bike. I’m still getting used to it and it’s definitely heavier than my 500 but it opens up a whole new world of riding. Much more versatile that my 500 was. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy your vids buddy!

    With the high performance dual sports, are there any that don't require you to check the valves every 30 hours? That's the only thing holding me back and leaning towards something in a whole different league (crf300L)

    While I might agree with many of the reasons stated here I had 3 plated DS bikes in my garage and sold them all 6 years ago. But hey, I live in Kansas. Nothing to see here folks. YMMV

      @@jaybissell4566 It really depends on a rider's ADHD and what they like. There's nothing appealing to me in the KC area. I'm back to woods only mostly because I'm 64 and running out of time to do what I like most. When I can't get it up any more (the hills🤭) then I'll consider another DS.

      Where do you live? I’m in Wichita and I love riding Kansas backroads. Now mind you the good stuff is in the Flint Hills or Gypsum Hills but once your in them riding it’s great scenery. I used to lead dualsport rides every two weeks for like 150 miles and loved it. Sold my CRF450L after a year and a half and hate myself for selling it now. Miss Kansas backroads so bad now.

    • @numbzinger350
      @numbzinger350 2 роки тому +1

      @@ryanbelleau4801 I'm on the west side of KC. I did a couple of 200 mile days on gravel and I suppose they were ok but it wasn't enjoyable enough to do any more of it. Along with those experiences me and the gang did urban exploring a few times but I always felt like we were going to get arrested for trespassing.
      None of it tripped my trigger like being in the woods. There aren't any woods within an hour of me so riding there isn't worth it.
      I prefer woods riding so when I'm too old for that I might take another look at DS.

    • @ryanbelleau4801
      @ryanbelleau4801 2 роки тому

      @@numbzinger350 I love doing group rides but as far as urban assault no thanks. Not into the hooligan thing. I rode once with a group in Wichita and felt like an idiot being with them because every block of wheelies going in and out of traffic. I left them in short time not my thing. I’m 45 and I started in Idaho mountains and desert riding dirt bikes so I fully understand your passion for what you miss. I’m never though dualsport would fill that gap I’m missing but on my rides I led I made a point to take people down the worst stuff I could find which in Kansas is super hard not there are good spots here and there you just need to find them out exploring and use gps to mark them.

    You old farts might thing dual sport riding is an old man thing, but I'll have you know that I'm young and dual sporting cuz trails are limited, you run out of them, unless you have a road legal vehicle. Then the world is your oyster.
