He’s the real deal. My family is friends with his family thru our dads back when he was in Scream Queens. I have 2 daughters who watched that show and I get a call from Glenn on Christmas Eve night saying my dad had given him my number and that my daughters wanted a autograph pic or something. He asked if it would be ok to make them a quick video saying hello and I was like, for sure. They would go nuts. 20 minutes later, he texted me a short video and they loved it. He did this on Christmas Eve on his own. And my girls loved it. How can you not like the guy?
@@Kinseliplier 😂❤ Nice. I do enjoy Tom’s movies. He pulled off Jack Reacher and Mission Impossible not to mention Minority Report and so many more than I can list. Less Grossman is a personal favorite. The video of the remix at the end with him dancing is hilarious.
Great advice from Tom Cruise and you can tell he took that too heart. He was the most memorable 2ndary character next to the main characters. Gave us glimpses of a mixture of Iceman and Maverick.
Exactly!! I love how Powell said he wants to be like Mav because Hangmans role was the closest we got to that in movie imo. He's the loner like Mav but he is just as ice cold no mistakes
@MrFraiche. Great career advice from TC since it applies to whatever career you choose. Better to be a Player on a Winning Team than to be a Star Player on a Losing Team.
Can you imagine what could've happened to Powell if he hadn't taken Cruise's advice and hadn't joined the film? Would he be the rising star he is today, or just another average actor? If it's the latter, who would've been in Anyone But You, Hit Man, and Twisters instead?
Loved him in Maverick, and he comes across very well here. I can see why Tom Cruise didn't let him drop out after it wasn't going to be the Rooster role
I remember seeing an interview with some Navy guys where they were explaining callsigns tended to be the most negative thing about someone. "The only way a guy would be nicknamed Maverick is if he were the most boring, by-the-book, uptight a**hole."
Fun interview and I love those Cruise Cake stories. Even if he has aides doing it for him it still shows great character that he bothers to in the first place, amazing :D
After recently watching Glen in the movie Hit Man and this video being about a year old that he was in the process of filming that movie while doing this interview by how his hair looks here.
His character is such a douche in the movie, but in this interview you can tell he's just a cool guy that genuinely cares about his career and doesn't wanna get sucked into the Hollywood black hole
Yes, it is an awesome film.. unfortunately the lead actor in that film had trouble with domestic violence against his then girlfriend (Supergirl acctress) ..it unfortunately tainted the film's success
I've seen this dude in quite a few unexpected roles and he always crushes it. Definitely should be the next big star. Also, that unexpected Sly impression was gold!
He acknowledged his friends in TX who tried Hollywood and flamed out. I’m sure they were all talented and handsome. But they don’t get interviews and red carpet. Tough business.
Hey, TC, one of the things all Americans can agree on is that we want that coconut cake. How that recipe hasn't got out, I do not know. I'm GenX, born and raised in LA, and that CruiseCake has been a legend a long time. There's also a Beverly Hills hostess - God, is it Kathy Hilton? Might be. - that serves incredible cuisine every year at her Oscars party, including "monkey bread", a mouthwatering pastry. All the nominees head straight there after the ceremony to eat. There's a true story about Gayle practicality forcing Oprah to go to the award show one year, when O had no intention of going, because she so badly wanted to try the monkey bread. Apparently, it's that good.
Imagine having to be TALKED INTO doing a Tom Cruise movie that's produced by Jerry Bruckheimer that's a sequel to one of the most popular movies of all time simply because you didn't get the initial part you auditioned for.
The "Hangman/Noose" origin story is absolutely unreal. My cousin is in the Australian Air Force, he has confirmed that absolutely no callsign is ever about anything cool, it's always referencing something humorous at best and humiliating at worst, so that story one hundred per-cent tracks, regardless of nation or branch of armed forces.
"There are no small parts, only small actors" I guess Glen missed that day acting school when we all learn the iconic acting quote from Stanislavski...
i am of a “certain age” haha like we all are, and capuchin monkeys always remind of the early 1990’s movie “Monkey Trouble”, which had Harvey Keitel in it! And as a kid I certainly had noooooooo idea how much of a badass actor Harvey Keitel was. Haha I just knew that my lil sis lovvvvvvved that movie and so I would watch it with her when she watched it.
i think it is funny for me personally because I watch a lot of Eisen clips and I have also recently been watching a lot of “growing up in scientology” channel’s clips and have learned just how crazy Tom Cruise is in real life with all his scientology bullcrap and questionable activities related to it. Meh, but still love his movies! Also, I want a coconut cake white chocalate chunks that sounds dope!
This man will win an Oscar someday. If they ever redo "Dirty Harry", which I doubt you could do nowadays, this guy and Eastwood's son are the only two guys that should be on the call sheet. But, alas, that will never happen. But I feel like this guy has and Eastwood vibe.
I don't mind believing Glen Powell's experiencing in audition for Top Gun: Maverick. I did sense a bit of hostility towards Miles Teller protrayal of Rooster at the bar while acting, but no big deal for honest pay and for having fun. BTW, I'm a big fan of Glenn Powell that I was also eager to see him in another naval aviator film called Devotion. I'm really happy to have seen this particular interview by Glenn Powell himself.
Mediocre on a great team vs a star on a bad team? I dont know if that is the best advice. So many great NFL players are on mediocre or awful teams.... but their talent makes them stand the F out and then they get stardom
Here’s a follow up “is it true the team behind TG:Maverick specifically waited for the actual author of the movie to pass so that you could steal his IP again after having failed to defend a IP theft lawsuit over the first TG?”

Top gun maverick was one of the greatest movies ever
High praise considering it was just a ripoff of Star Wars.
@@nickhall8319 well it does it way better. star wars is overrated
A worthy sequel
After seeing him in _Top Gun_ I reckon this guy would make such a cool villain

He was great in scream queens
My dad met him at a golf tournament in Arizona this year. He said hes incredibly nice and down to earth. Just a cool dude u wanna hang with

Glenn's so humble to say he had a small part in Top Gun, when he in fact stole the movie and was the main reason we all love that movie.
He is so vane in Top Gun Maverick that you can’t help but love him!! So good looking too!❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
What?
Dude has serious carisma, going to be a movie star for a long time.

Not a douche, just cocky like Pete in Top Gun 1.
So we basically have Denzel to thank us for Glen Powell & Austin Butler. I am here for it.

I want him to be the new Harvey Dent/Two Face for the Matt Reeves Batman movies.

Hangman was my favorite character from Top Gun: Maverick. He may have been cocky, but I bet he learned how to be a better wingman under Maverick.
