Dominique Gless in the title role of the 1992 production of Esclarmonde at Teatro Regio di Torino. Gless- Bello- Senator- Beronesi- Zadvorny; Guingal. 1992 Turin
I love it whenever any performance of this lovely opera is put on display. The music is so beautiful. I just wonder why she had to scream the high notes. Thanks a lot for this anyway.
+babydrane LIsten to Sutherland. She did not scream the high notes, and she had the proper Wagnerian size soprano to tower over the 150 piece orchestra. And yes, Sutherland can trill on high B which she did in Esclarmonde to an E. Sutherland's D's and E's are effortless but she did not go for the high G. My problem with Gless is you can't hear her. With Sutherland, you hear every note. Even the high D at the end of one of most densely orchestrated ensembles with a full orchestra and a full chorus!
@@vettegaddia6234 not comparable - this is a live recording in non professional, distant sound. Sutherland is in the studio with a microphone up close, and the music was also often transposed down for her.
Un air d'une extrême difficulté cet qui fait toujours un effet " choc " sur le public.La cantatrice doit avoir une technique solide car elle très exposée .
1:36 yes!!!!
yeeeeeeeooh... almost!
I saw Sutherland sing this part in London. Faaaaaaabulous!
Her timbre reminds me of Sutherland's in certain passages

I had no problem hearing her....she has a strong voice and this is not transposed down like sutherland, but no one can compare with dame Joan.....

@@jimbuxton2187 Sutherland never had Esclarmonde transposed down
@@crazyorganist1609 Sutherland didn't sung the high G which Gless sings. Look it up.
