Great technique. Loved the video. In my experience, the Redken 10 Minute color gels is great for brunettes, but later on, it does not play well with lightener. It stays in the hair at an orangy level 6, as it grows out and you attempt to balayage/ foilyage the dimension higher up, it's a nightmare. It does NOT budge. I even used Blonde Me. Now, that was even more true for my level 7-8 blondes who wanted level 9-10 lift. Still, I had several "redos" when that old gel color (it's the 10 min one, specifically) would NOT lift out. Just sharing my experience. The Wella 10 minute color works quite well when you need to lift it out, later and isn't progressive. It is almost 1 level dark, though. A 6 looks like a 4 or 5. I promise, I love Redken and Wella, but that was my ONE issue with that particular Redken product. It's great if they never want a money piece or dimension added.
1st of all, Jamie Dana, I ❤️, ❤,❤ your tutorials! 🤗 I've learned so much from them. 😁 I just have a little trick that you may want to give it a shot. When you were 1st beginning to rinse her color, I use conditioner & massage it around like you did with the water. Idk if that's not a good thing to do but I've never had any problems. It seems to work pretty well. & I use hand sanitizer to remove any remnants. 😊
This is one of the best videos Ive seen on partial colour, some great tips and really thoroughly explained. And the result looks amazing with so few foils. Unfortunately I can't get hold of the colour gels or shades eq, I use mainly Wella, but I can use similar colours, with the same technique. Thanks for sharing your knowledge..much appreciated 😁
Jesus has placed it on my heart to share the Gospel with you. Jesus, God the Son the Son of God, died, and spilled His precious blood, on the cross to pay the price for our sins. He was buried and on the third day rose from the dead just like the scriptures said He would. Salvation is a gift, please accept it now if you haven't already by BELIEVING in what Jesus did for us.
What happened to the lightweight conditioner technique you used in earlier videos to lighten the line of demarcation or transition line? love your new hair colour!
I still use that sometimes, but for this technique, the teasing works just fine and it's not needed. Thanks for watching! And thanks for the compliment on my hair color 😘
This is a great question! I would still charge for a regular root touch-up (it still costs the same amount of product and gets the same result, just quicker), but for the balayage, I probably wouldn't charge for a full balayage service. I would charge for a half balayage on top of the root touch-up or I would charge the same as if I did highlights and a root touch-up, it's a similar service. Hope that helps!
Oh wow, you can apply the 10 minute hair color on wet hair? I had no idea.😮 I don’t usually get good coverage with that 10 minute color but maybe I’m doing something wrong. Thank you for your video Jamie. It’s good to see you again.

Dana when do you actually time the 10 minute for express color? After you finish the application. In FS salon we use Kenra express. I notice that 10 minutes is not enough time for the last quadrant where I applied the color so I always give it extra 5minutes. And I also notice that if I take big slices some grey is not covered. Any tips that you impart . I work in a salon that you have to work fast.
That's a great question! With any color line, it may have some nuance to it. Ultimately, I need to get the result that will make the client happy, so if that means processing for an additional 5 mins to get the coverage, I would do that. Also, if you take thinner sections and FULLY saturate, you'll have much better coverage too, try that next time!
@@MrsBauscher I’m aware, I do them often - but the terms are used so interchangeably now to create a certain look that it really doesn’t matter. Also foilyage is a term used pretty often in the industry now as a stand alone term so
Where did you place the foils ? around the face ? 5x on each side? Why didnt the dark colour dye over your highlights ? 🤔 lt looks great ,but l have more grey so will probably need more foils 😑.
I'm so happy to see you creating videos again.
Thank you!!!❤ Happy to be back again!
@@DoAwayCrochet me too. Love these tutorials videos.
@@rosie1877 Awe you're so sweet to say that! I'm glad to be back!

It turned out beautifully! I think this client could rock the whispy bangs.
Looks nice the way it came out
@@len1975It did,but more layers would look great with her face shape like a butterfly cut.

Being a shorter version of two services, balayage and root retouch, how would you price for this??

I missed the toner formula, what did you use?

@@JamieDana thank you for taking the time to respond. I love the way you do your tutorial . And also you seems so happy sharing your expertise.
Please let me know what kind of products and how much did you use.❤
Love gel based colors! I use L’Oréal and sadly they discontinued LUO Color and DiaRichesse so I think about switching to Colorgels and Shades!
You should try them out! I love the consistency of the product, super easy to apply!
❤❤❤❤❤
😍❤✨
What is the blending color from the grays?😊
I'm not 100% sure of your question. Do you mean what is the color I used? I used Redken Color Gels which is a permanent color and that covers the gray
Color removes color from skin. Hairspray will keep color from setting into clothes. It's booboo lifesaver
Thats Not a balayage
It’s a foilyage
Balayage is just a technique that means hand painting, it doesn't indicate the finished style and isn't negated by using foil.
