i’m one of four kids, so i remember my parents bringing in peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, with chips and pretzels to snack on while we waited in line! it was so fun to be able to enjoy the food aspect of disneyland in a whole new way as an adult! now it’s one of my favorite parts of being in the parks and planning my next vacation🙂

I miss the Mickey shaped lollipops that came in solid pastel colors. Does anyone else remember those? Pastel blue, pink, yellow, green, and I think orange. These tasted better than the clear colored ones.

MigVee thank you for being so open and real about your childhood. My parents took me to Disneyland 3 times in my childhood and that was a blessing on its own, but the lunch bag game was strong.
My mom would make ceviche and we’d get a locker to store it and have lunch. We would get Churros as a treat but growing up to Mexican parents has its own quirks. I also still love ceviche de camarón!
Love the channel and the energy, thank you for the happiness you bring me.

Same- mostly. No ceviche- but the 2 or 3 times my mom took us, she prepared lunch and breakfast and we were allowed one meal (and a FEW treats) in the parks. Plaza Inn and Hungry Bear are what I remember. Still love Plaza Inn. ❤ it’s nice to be able to try all the treats as an adult, but I totally get why she stuck to her budget. Wasn’t easy w/three kids then …and even harder for families now. xoxo, Mom

Haha growing up Mexican, my parents would bring chorizo con papa burritos, ham sandwiches, and tortas. I actually never wanted snacks/food from Disney as a kid, but seeing the other kids with a balloon or toy was what got me.

I didnt get to go to Disney as a kid but I am grateful now that I am an adult I get to give my kids that magical experience of Disneyland! They love it! Although whenever I went to a state fair or something similar we used to pack chorizo egg and cheese sandwiches. I was jealous also of the other kids who would get the “good” food but I love making those kind of sandwiches now. 😊!

It's funny, when we are young we don't like the brought from home food, but once we get older we look back on those days with fond memories.

For some reason this is one of my fondest memories as a child and it’s strange that I remember this. It was August 1991, I was 4 years old and it was my first time going to Disneyland. My family drove in from Long Beach and we had packed bologna and cheese sandwiches, chips and other small snacks. I’ll never forget when I asked my grandfather if we could get the Disney food and his response was “McDonald Douglas doesn’t pay me enough to get Disney food, but one day you will eat it.” I’ve gone to Disney over god knows how many times and he was right!

We went to Disneyland so much our parents were the greatest. We started off trying everything in the park got so tired of it. We start bringing our own food sandwiches and chips were our favorite. We would bring KFC Taco Bell. some McDonald's cheeseburgers. But I have to say that ham and cheese. Sandwiches on the French rolls wrapped in an Wax paper in the cooler with the chips after they Chilled for a while it was just delicious.

Back in the day, my mom used to sneak ham and cheese sandwiches into the park by sticking them between the garter of her pants and her waist. I don’t remember if we weren’t allowed to bring outside food into the park and that’s why she did it but I do remember that same situation where I was bitter I had to eat body-temp sandwiches while I see other kids walking around with delicious treats.
Now, as an adult, I think back on it and just love my single, immigrant mother so much more for working a double job just to support my brother and I. And occasionally, once she’s saved up enough and every few years or so, we went to Disneyland and had the best time. I know now that she did her best to give us what other kids had and it just makes Disneyland all that more special. ❤

Desserts, chips drinks water, soda to Capri drinks.

Hmmm nothing like a baloney sandwich mom had carried in her purse from home till lunch. Something about Disneyland makes a warm mustard baloney sandwich taste great. Yep even back in the late sixties early seventies Disney food was just a dream. Yes when the tickets were done (and so was mom) we called it a day. Usually happened in the mid afternoon.

When I was a kid my family would bring sandwiches, chips and Capri Suns to the park. We would rent a locker to store the food and then find the picnic area to eat lunch. ❤

Our family was at Disneyland in January and rode Casey Jr. for the first time, such an underrated ride! We are so excited to visit Toontown for the first time hopefully later this year.

Yes! My family usually would bring sandwiches (turkey, ham, PB&J on Roman Meal. Do they even make Roman Meal anymore? I never see it in stores anymore). But at the end of the night we always bought one dessert to share as a family. I remember I always wanted to try the funnel cake but everyone preferred a Churro or Ice Cream Sundae. But my favorite memory was when my older brother got his first full-time job and came home one day during the summer and took me and my younger brother to Disneyland as a surprise. This was our first sibling outing to Disney without our parents (He was 22, me 13, our younger brother 11), and at the end of the night he got us each our own dessert! I finally got my funnel cake and yes I ate it all by myself. Nothing ever tasted so delicious. But I don't think it was funnel cake. It was all the magic my big brother brings to my life

My family brought food in when I was a kid, too! My Mom would get a locker and put a cooler bag of sandwiches in it. We’d each carry a backpack with snacks in it, too. Back then, the food was pretty basic “theme park food” that wasn’t all that great. We’d always get churros, that was a must! Now, the food is phenomenal and can’t be missed!
