    this way of setting up and laying out the quilt squares on this table cloth and then rolling it with a paper tube or pool noodle is such a wonderful idea! I am working on a kawandi right now and I am planning to hand sew it all but even this gives me an idea of laying it out since I actually had cut out and planned my squares to make a traditional quilt before I learned about kawandi and fell in love. Thanks for all the helpful tips for making these beautiful quilts, especially for myself since I am new to quilting :)

    Kate at the Last Homely House also directed me to your channel. I love what you're doing. In examining your beautiful quilt I noticed the way the colors seemed to reflect light and shadow in interesting ways. So, for example, it reminded me of a big city as the sun was rising or setting. Some buildings would be lit sooner (or later) than others. Some windows were lit and others were dark. It gives my brain a lot to think about! I am retiring at the end of the year and I will have more time to devote to my quilting. I will look forward to making a quilt along these lines. Thank you for generously sharing your ideas and methods! Keep making videos! You do a great job and I expect you have much more to share...

    Great explanation. I've no design wall or floor space that big (living in a typical small English semi detached house), but your method is adaptable. You've given me idea for EEP shapes I'm gradually gathering. I'd a bit of an idea of moving from hue to hue but think I've now got a better grasp on how to do it.
    I've not got a volume of scraps as not been quilting very long but I like how your blocks are made and put together. I came to you via Pat Sloan, I'm glad I did. Thank you

I've been English paper pattern, hand quilting since 1972 and it was only during COVID lockdown here in Australia, that I took to the sewing machine to piece together my very first scrap fabric quilt - out of frustration! So at 70 y.o. I'm a novice to this process. So excited and enthusiastic to get my own colour wash scrap quilt under way.

    i love this idea - how would you quilt such a quilt - would you just do stitch in the ditch?

    Hi Terry,
    I have several questions: 1) do you use the same scrap fabric for several or many blocks? 2) I don't think I have alot of scraps in my stash, and may not have lots of fabrics in many color ways, do you suggest I just make my blocks, and then continue with future scraps as they come until I have enough to make at a minimum a full size quilt? Your quilts are so beautiful, and I watch your videos many times because I am transfixed on the colors!!! Thank you, Jasmine.

      I like variety but if you only have a few craps you will need to make the blocks as you get scraps or put multiple blocks that look the same or maybe trade scraps with friends to get variety have fun and enjoy your journey

      For some of the colors for mine, I did not have a great deal of variety. So, I ordered some batches of scraps in those colors from some vendors off Etsy and Ebay.

    Thank you for this presentation! I’m eager to get started. Can you tell me the approximate size of your paper tube and tablecloths?

      Hi most of the new Flannel tablecloths are 50" x 70' so if you need a bigger surface I pin them together. I get a roll that is about 2" longer than the shortest side. I use the inside of the batting rolls and have actually taped two together to get the length I need

    Hi Terri, I’m a beginner quilter and would love to make a quilt like this but I have very few scraps. Would you suggest I buy precut packs to get started?🙂

    • @terryrowland398
      @terryrowland398  2 роки тому

      You could do that or contact a local guild and tell them you are a new quilter and looking for scraps of quilting cotton.

      @@katrinaallen3266 I am working on mine right now and will have about 950 blocks. I will need about 840 for the queen quilt but wanted to give myself some buffer, so I can play a bit within each color if some don't want work as well with their neighbours. I figure I will use the extra to put together a couple of pillow shams to use with the quilt.
