Good for them!, if you have a dog that barks incessantly other people do not have to suffer the noise. I had that situation with a neighbor who thank goodness the city and management took care of it. I’m in the same situation… I can hear the dog in my master bedroom at all hours of the day barking and howling and NOTHING is being done. I call animal control, NOTHING. They just tell the owner who is calling and then the owner is standing at the end of my driveway when I get home from work to harass me more and TELL me to quit calling animal control.

It should be a cultural and legal norm for dog owners to keep their dogs quiet. I don't understand why this isn't the case yet. Dogs are legally the owner's property, just like a car. So if a neighbour's car alarm goes off, it's THEIR responsibility to stop it. Let's say a car alarm goes off for 3 hours straight, you wouldn't hear them say "Well, cars are cars, their alarm goes off! That's just part of living in a neighbourhood, so deal with it." Like what? No! Same for dogs, it should be EXPECTED that the owners shut their dogs up from excessive/continuous barking, regardless if they are home or not. It's that simple. I know when my dog barks, I put a stop to it immediately because the first thing that registers in my brain is "This barking is annoying to everyone and they shouldn't have to put up with it." It's the same thing as thinking "Yeah, it's Monday night so I won't throw a party all night with loud music because that would be very disrespectful and awful for my neighbours."... It's the most BASIC form of courtesy to ever exist and people who don't care enough to understand that are just complete trash. The real problem though is that too many dog owners face zero consequences for being too lazy to keep their dogs quiet. It's like they get this right of passage because "dogs are man's best friend". There's a complete lack of jurisdiction for this extremely frustrating yet extremely common problem. There should be clear, organized consequences for dog owners who fail to keep their dogs quiet on a consistent basis. It's ridiculous how we can get fined $40 for parking 2 minutes too long in a parking spot, but causing serious stress and anxiety to neighbours for months on end is A-okay. People need CONSEQUENCES for their actions. Having a dog is a privilege, not a right. It should be the norm to require dog owners to stop excessive/continuous barking or face the consequences of tickets, fines, being evicted/having to move out or having your dog taken away from you and given to more responsible owners. I have one sweet dog that does not bark much, my other dog barks incessantly if triggered. I have to rehome him and I hate that I have to do this but I can not get him to stop. I hope he is not put to sleep because he is a good boy otherwise. I just can’t imagine anyone else putting up with his bark for too long. I hope he doesn’t have to go to a million different homes. Hopefully he lives a good life.
@@shae1005 Oh my god, I'm sorry to hear that... I've heard that dog trainers can really help with issues like that though so that's always a possibility. There are also these gadgets that you can guy for like $30 that emit a sound that only dogs can hear whenever it detects barking/sound. Doesn't hurt them but they hate it, so eventually they associate the barking with the sound and it helps with some dogs. I truly hope things work out:(
Barking dogs ,crowing roosters etc keep the economy going . It’s not in the interest of council officers to stop the barking on their first visit or second ....then there would be no more dogs barking problems and no more rooster crowing complaints ,therefore there would be no need for so many council officers .....they are not silly to do themselves out of a job .....the system is not meant to help us ....you are wasting your time if you are counting on the council to help you . System needs to change .
At least roosters are banned in many residential suburbs but dogs are allowed to be owned everywhere almost. Stupid dogcentric laws always lenient to dogs. All barking dogs needs to be banned from ownership just like they did to roosters.
Tibetan mastiffs are pretty quiet unless actually facing a threat (without receiving a lot training). It's not hard to bring that nature to the surface since they have been breed for a long time to protect villages. It's an expensive breed so if they can afford to have 10 of them they could easily afford training.
The problem here is that Animal Control or the Police could not resolve this in a timely manner. When you call Animal Control for a noise complaint/ noise ordinance enforcement they do absolutely nothing. That's the problem.

Hang in there friend! 3 German Shepards in storage lot 2 doors down from me. No power, 40+ stolen and unregistered cars, ducks, geese, ROOSTERS, and no one lives there to complain to. They show up for 15 minutes a day to feed the dogs. It's been 2 years and listening to these dogs cry from loneliness in temperatures down to 20 below has been excruciatingly painful.
It sounds twisted, but after listening to my neighbors dog for years it actually brings a smile to my face when I watch videos of ones that are de-vocalized. It took a lot to make me feel that way, but people just don't understand what it's like until it is a constant disruption in their life.
I would never consider animal abuse as an option even if my sleep was interrupted. NEVER! I've heard noisy dogs, heck my cats are constantly waking up in the night for something and I e felt the exhaustion of it but I wouldn't shut them up on another room let alone anything worse. I am 100% with the neighbors. I have a great Pyrenees myself and his barking is atrocious, it hurts my very core of my soul. I’ve tried anti-bark collars, and these escape artist man inch to remove them or chew them off. I am so utterly irked by my dogs barking it’s really hard to enjoy them. It really is a nightmare. I’m looking to rehome them into a farm somewhere.

My old neighbors had a Pyrenees; it barked nonstop all day. Eventually there were so many complaints they had to remove it's vocal chords. I never complained to anyone other than myself but I wasn't surprised to learn the whole neighborhood was peeved. Their dog was right outside MY window lol

We moved from a neighbourhood of barking dogs horrific to one that has the same problem even though we did our homework just cant legislate for new dogs coming into the neighbourhood.

If I was the judge I would order 2 months to get a trainer, not surgery. Surgery will only give the dogs more suffering, they didn't deserve to be hurt for their owner's negligence. If a dog feels the need to bark that much he is either too bored or neglected, dogs will do negative behavior to get attention if positive behavior is not working, the owner needs to find another outlet for those dogs instead of leaving them out there alone. I think the complaining neighbors are awesome, and they look like dog owners themselves, I doubt they want the dogs hurt in any way, they just want their quiet time.
Dogs barks are actually at a hz that cause humans anxiety, high blood pressure and other issues. They’re manmade mutants….yes they’re living things….but that surgery is less invasive than a spay/neuter. It’s not the same as a humans voice. I live in a neighborhood that was fairly quiet at first but then soon after I moved in people moved in with dogs and other neighbors started getting dogs. Now there are around 30 dogs just on my block that bark whenever they want to for as long as they want to. It's been around 10 years of extreme frustration and stress. Every single day there are dogs outside barking. Last night one of the dogs escaped and was standing in the street barking from around midnight to 12:30. I don't understand how people can be selfish enough to get pets and then not train them to be quiet.

Surgery may not silence the dogs. Some vets do not know how to properly remove the bark from a dog. So the dog will still be able to make noise. It will just sound different.

Hi David, if you moved to an area where the dogs were there first, (which is why I was curious who was there first), you can not expect the people making a living with the breeding or racing of their dogs because they bark and to give them grieve about it. My family moved to the country area first and we did this because at that time my family bred, raised, trained and raced greyhounds. They do bark especially at intervals of feeding, grooming, and training. We had 30 greyhounds, so their barking was very loud. We had a family buy the property behind our property and they had the nerve to complain about the barking. I explained to them that this is the business and there is no controlling 30 barking and exciting greyhounds. Plus, when they were looking at the property with the real estate agent I met them and introduced myself. Then I explained the schedule of the dogs, the barking, etc.. The real estate agent, who lives on the property to the left of our property and is a very good friend of mine, understood this and accepted the barking because I had warned them ahead of time and they were fine with it. The people said they would be fine, so they bought the property and moved into it. The first evening that I was feeding the dogs and they were barking the woman called me and said in a very rude tone to shut up those mf dogs or else. Well, I told her that I had explained it to her and her husband before they bought the property, so either learn to live with it or move. She called the police and I called my neighbor, (the real estate agent who heard me explain it and the woman and her husband accept it), to come over. The police arrived, we also were friends with him, too, (small country town). We all gathered at the fence dividing her property from my family's. The woman started telling lies to the officer that I never told her about the dogs and the loud barking. My friend, the real estate agent, stepped forward and said that the woman is not telling the truth because she was there when I told her and they both said it would be fine. The woman had no idea the woman was my friend and lived there, too. The officer asked me if I wanted to file charges against the woman for telling lies against my family and said that the only way I will not file charges is if the officer puts it on record that the couple agree to accept the barking dogs and if they can not then they will move. The people did move and a family who also raised greyhounds moved in and we were at peace about barking dogs. This is why I asked who lived there first, the barking dogs family or the other people. It would be stupid to buy property next to dog breeders knowing there will be barking and then have the nerve to complain about it. They should have bought property in another location.
True, but if you have that many dogs it is going to be very difficult for the dog owners because I know that with 30 greyhounds it would be impossible to put them in the house. We had a kennel and running areas attached to their kennel house. If someone lives in the city then they should put their dogs in the house to quiet them, but I am talking about 10 to 400 acres with homes out here and they are mostly greyhound and thorough bred horses, so we are considerate of each others livelihoods.

Many Americans with too much money to start with love to sue people and when they actually win a court case like this one you have to wonder if the judge was paid off to rule in their favor.

The neighbors from hell actually lived there for 5 years BEFORE they decided to become dog breeders. Why do you refer to these animals as "pets". They are being breed to be sold. They aren't "pet owners". They are running a business.
My dog barks frequently when she's outside. While it is admittedly annoying, whenever she barks, I take her inside. However, one day I was at school and my mom let my dog out. When she began barking, my mom acknowledged the noise but took a few minutes to take care of the situation. Within that short time, my crabby annoying neighbors called animal control who greeted my mother at the door. My dog now can be outside for no longer than 15 minutes at a time. My house is sour owned by neighbor dogs who bark constantly but my closest neighbors decided to take it out on my dog and my dog alone. This is a similar yet slightly more severe scenario but you don't need to sue and cost the family thousands. That's a little extreme.

What bothers me the most is that the barking was able to be controlled and all those sleepless nights and being tired at work could have been avoided. It’s rest I will never get back.

I’m in the same situation… I can hear the dog in my master bedroom at all hours of the day barking and howling and NOTHING is being done. I call animal control, NOTHING. They just tell the owner who is calling and then the owner is standing at the end of my driveway when I get home from work to harass me more and TELL me to quit calling animal control.

It should be a cultural and legal norm for dog owners to keep their dogs quiet. I don't understand why this isn't the case yet. Dogs are legally the owner's property, just like a car. So if a neighbour's car alarm goes off, it's THEIR responsibility to stop it. Let's say a car alarm goes off for 3 hours straight, you wouldn't hear them say "Well, cars are cars, their alarm goes off! That's just part of living in a neighbourhood, so deal with it." Like what? No! Same for dogs, it should be EXPECTED that the owners shut their dogs up from excessive/continuous barking, regardless if they are home or not. It's that simple. I know when my dog barks, I put a stop to it immediately because the first thing that registers in my brain is "This barking is annoying to everyone and they shouldn't have to put up with it." It's the same thing as thinking "Yeah, it's Monday night so I won't throw a party all night with loud music because that would be very disrespectful and awful for my neighbours."... It's the most BASIC form of courtesy to ever exist and people who don't care enough to understand that are just complete trash. The real problem though is that too many dog owners face zero consequences for being too lazy to keep their dogs quiet. It's like they get this right of passage because "dogs are man's best friend". There's a complete lack of jurisdiction for this extremely frustrating yet extremely common problem. There should be clear, organized consequences for dog owners who fail to keep their dogs quiet on a consistent basis. It's ridiculous how we can get fined $40 for parking 2 minutes too long in a parking spot, but causing serious stress and anxiety to neighbours for months on end is A-okay. People need CONSEQUENCES for their actions. Having a dog is a privilege, not a right. It should be the norm to require dog owners to stop excessive/continuous barking or face the consequences of tickets, fines, being evicted/having to move out or having your dog taken away from you and given to more responsible owners.

I have one sweet dog that does not bark much, my other dog barks incessantly if triggered. I have to rehome him and I hate that I have to do this but I can not get him to stop. I hope he is not put to sleep because he is a good boy otherwise. I just can’t imagine anyone else putting up with his bark for too long. I hope he doesn’t have to go to a million different homes. Hopefully he lives a good life.
@@shae1005 Oh my god, I'm sorry to hear that... I've heard that dog trainers can really help with issues like that though so that's always a possibility. There are also these gadgets that you can guy for like $30 that emit a sound that only dogs can hear whenever it detects barking/sound. Doesn't hurt them but they hate it, so eventually they associate the barking with the sound and it helps with some dogs. I truly hope things work out:(
Barking dogs ,crowing roosters etc keep the economy going . It’s not in the interest of council officers to stop the barking on their first visit or second ....then there would be no more dogs barking problems and no more rooster crowing complaints ,therefore there would be no need for so many council officers .....they are not silly to do themselves out of a job .....the system is not meant to help us ....you are wasting your time if you are counting on the council to help you . At least roosters are banned in many residential suburbs but dogs are allowed to be owned everywhere almost. Stupid dogcentric laws always lenient to dogs. All barking dogs needs to be banned from ownership just like they did to roosters.
Tibetan mastiffs are pretty quiet unless actually facing a threat (without receiving a lot training). It's not hard to bring that nature to the surface since they have been breed for a long time to protect villages. It's an expensive breed so if they can afford to have 10 of them they could easily afford training.

The problem here is that Animal Control or the Police could not resolve this in a timely manner. When you call Animal Control for a noise complaint/ noise ordinance enforcement they do absolutely nothing. That's the problem.

Hang in there friend! 3 German Shepards in storage lot 2 doors down from me. No power, 40+ stolen and unregistered cars, ducks, geese, ROOSTERS, and no one lives there to complain to. They show up for 15 minutes a day to feed the dogs. It's been 2 years and listening to these dogs cry from loneliness in temperatures down to 20 below has been excruciatingly painful.

It sounds twisted, but after listening to my neighbors dog for years it actually brings a smile to my face when I watch videos of ones that are de-vocalized. It took a lot to make me feel that way, but people just don't understand what it's like until it is a constant disruption in their life.

My sister has 42 pit bulls. I literally roll in a field with them. Probably one of the happiest times of my life.

I am 100% with the neighbors. I have a great Pyrenees myself and his barking is atrocious, it hurts my very core of my soul. I’ve tried anti-bark collars, and these escape artist man inch to remove them or chew them off. I am so utterly irked by my dogs barking it’s really hard to enjoy them. It really is a nightmare. I’m looking to rehome them into a farm somewhere.

My old neighbors had a Pyrenees; it barked nonstop all day. Eventually there were so many complaints they had to remove it's vocal chords. I never complained to anyone other than myself but I wasn't surprised to learn the whole neighborhood was peeved. Their dog was right outside MY window lol
Hate to be that person but this is the reason working breeds need a job. Just living as domesticated pets is not fulfilling enough for them unless you know what you’re doing to keep ‘em happy. If I was the judge I would order 2 months to get a trainer, not surgery. Surgery will only give the dogs more suffering, they didn't deserve to be hurt for their owner's negligence. If a dog feels the need to bark that much he is either too bored or neglected, dogs will do negative behavior to get attention if positive behavior is not working, the owner needs to find another outlet for those dogs instead of leaving them out there alone. I think the complaining neighbors are awesome, and they look like dog owners themselves, I doubt they want the dogs hurt in any way, they just want their quiet time.

Dogs barks are actually at a hz that cause humans anxiety, high blood pressure and other issues. They’re manmade mutants….yes they’re living things….but that surgery is less invasive than a spay/neuter. It’s not the same as a humans voice. I live in a neighborhood that was fairly quiet at first but then soon after I moved in people moved in with dogs and other neighbors started getting dogs. Now there are around 30 dogs just on my block that bark whenever they want to for as long as they want to. It's been around 10 years of extreme frustration and stress. Every single day there are dogs outside barking. Last night one of the dogs escaped and was standing in the street barking from around midnight to 12:30. I don't understand how people can be selfish enough to get pets and then not train them to be quiet.

I got a bark collar for her because it's just too much. I've been written up in my 55+ MHP for her as I worked 3 12hr shifts. The collar has stopped the "violations" from rolling in. I just charge it every night when we hit the hay. She only wakes me up 2 or 3 times a night.

I wish the judge just ordered the dogs to be adopted out to more responsible owners or force the owners to pay for a dog trainer to train the dogs to stop being vocal. Surgery may not silence the dogs. Some vets do not know how to properly remove the bark from a dog. So the dog will still be able to make noise. It will just sound different.

No, but there is such a thing as parents teaching their children to respect the homes of others.And if they dont, go to court. Most of the time its neglect on the parents part. Judges order debarking when all other choices have been exhausted. The judge knows that the (usually) mentally ill dog owner has no concept of their neighbor's right to quiet enjoyment of their property, so they skip all the formailities and order the dog devocalized. You can blame irresponsible, mentally unstable dog owners for this.

The judges ruling on the dog surgery to silence them is cruel!!! If anyone needs to be silenced it is the complaining neighbors. My question is, who was living there first, the dog owners or the pain in the butt neighbors? When you live in the country and people make a livelihood of breeding these dogs then if you do not like it MOVE. I hope the people do not do the surgery on their dogs. They do need to muzzle the couple in this video. BOOHOO, move if you do not like it. I am so tired of hearing people complaint about other peoples pets. To the people with the dogs you need to get a better attorney and contact the ASPCA for help; I support you and your right to your dogs and their barking. David Bradshaw My neighbors dogs barked constantly and than they would yell, call police, call animal control on two other neighbors for their dogs barking. Being the non dog owner and un-biased he was wrong, his dogs barked a good 10 hours a day (total pains in the ass). I was scared to get a gold fish because of that mo fo.
Hi David, if you moved to an area where the dogs were there first, (which is why I was curious who was there first), you can not expect the people making a living with the breeding or racing of their dogs because they bark and to give them grieve about it. My family moved to the country area first and we did this because at that time my family bred, raised, trained and raced greyhounds. They do bark especially at intervals of feeding, grooming, and training. We had 30 greyhounds, so their barking was very loud. We had a family buy the property behind our property and they had the nerve to complain about the barking. I explained to them that this is the business and there is no controlling 30 barking and exciting greyhounds. Plus, when they were looking at the property with the real estate agent I met them and introduced myself. Then I explained the schedule of the dogs, the barking, etc.. The real estate agent, who lives on the property to the left of our property and is a very good friend of mine, understood this and accepted the barking because I had warned them ahead of time and they were fine with it.
The people said they would be fine, so they bought the property and moved into it. The first evening that I was feeding the dogs and they were barking the woman called me and said in a very rude tone to shut up those mf dogs or else. Well, I told her that I had explained it to her and her husband before they bought the property, so either learn to live with it or move. She called the police and I called my neighbor, (the real estate agent who heard me explain it and the woman and her husband accept it), to come over. The police arrived, we also were friends with him, too, (small country town). We all gathered at the fence dividing her property from my family's. The woman started telling lies to the officer that I never told her about the dogs and the loud barking. My friend, the real estate agent, stepped forward and said that the woman is not telling the truth because she was there when I told her and they both said it would be fine. The woman had no idea the woman was my friend and lived there, too. The officer asked me if I wanted to file charges against the woman for telling lies against my family and said that the only way I will not file charges is if the officer puts it on record that the couple agree to accept the barking dogs and if they can not then they will move. The people did move and a family who also raised greyhounds moved in and we were at peace about barking dogs. This is why I asked who lived there first, the barking dogs family or the other people. It would be stupid to buy property next to dog breeders knowing there will be barking and then have the nerve to complain about it. They should have bought property in another location.
True, but if you have that many dogs it is going to be very difficult for the dog owners because I know that with 30 greyhounds it would be impossible to put them in the house. We had a kennel and running areas attached to their kennel house. If someone lives in the city then they should put their dogs in the house to quiet them, but I am talking about 10 to 400 acres with homes out here and they are mostly greyhound and thorough bred horses, so we are considerate of each others livelihoods.
Thank you, for understanding, David. I agree with you about the legal system. It was ridiculous to sue these people instead of sound proofing your home better. Many Americans with too much money to start with love to sue people and when they actually win a court case like this one you have to wonder if the judge was paid off to rule in their favor.

The neighbors from hell actually lived there for 5 years BEFORE they decided to become dog breeders. Why do you refer to these animals as "pets". They are being breed to be sold. They aren't "pet owners". They are running a business.
My dog barks frequently when she's outside. While it is admittedly annoying, whenever she barks, I take her inside. However, one day I was at school and my mom let my dog out. When she began barking, my mom acknowledged the noise but took a few minutes to take care of the situation. Within that short time, my crabby annoying neighbors called animal control who greeted my mother at the door. My dog now can be outside for no longer than 15 minutes at a time. My house is sour owned by neighbor dogs who bark constantly but my closest neighbors decided to take it out on my dog and my dog alone. This is a similar yet slightly more severe scenario but you don't need to sue and cost the family thousands. That's a little extreme.

Danny Chen Danny, I think you misread that comment. The lawsuit counter by the dog owners said the ridiculous couple in this video were making them bark by harassing them with high pitch sounds.

Sarahnessoyeah yah don't buy your story. They do not issue an ordinance on a first complaint. They come and talk with the owner about it over and over again until they see nothing is done. You could train your dog correctly in the future to avoid this from happening. Be responsible for your own errors instead of placing blame on others.

Actually, the Law is now that Dogs can not bark more than 6 times per hour or the owners can be fined & their dog taken away & put to sleep. Dog barking is incredibly annoying. It's the owners fault for being lazy for not properly training so they deserve to be punished.
