"Aria" by Marianne Vedral - Baritone Guitar

- I always wanted to compose an "Aria" and somehow it was inevitable that it would end up in Baroque style.
While writing I had the feeling that some motifs might already exist in some Baroque works...but I don't know...
That's why I didn't publish it with Bergmann Edition.
But if anyone is interested in this piece, the sheet music is available here:

"Maria am Gestade" is one of the oldest churches in Vienna.

Sagenhaft schön, liebe Marianne ❤! Ich kann mich meinen Vorredner-/ innen nur anschließen. Meisterhaft komponiert, ja, als ob Du eine Zeitgenossin Bach gewesen wärst, aber doch Deins. Es ist sicher oft eine Gradwanderung, nicht von irgendwoher inspiriert worden zu sein. Dear mARIAnne ;-) Vielen dank! This it amazingly beautiful! Wow! I have been waiting for an Aria by mARIAnne but this is sooooo much more than I expected! Mrs. Bach, I presume?
When you compose in the style of baroque music, it will always contain the elements of that period: imitations in the voices, sequences, tonal cadences and so on. But this doesn’t mean it is a copy. It’s like writing a pop song without using sus4 chords or tonal cadences. ;-)
So well done my dear! Great respect from Copenhagen.

Ich liebe diese durchgehende Bassfigur. Sie gibt einem so viel Ruhe. Sicher hat das auch schon Bach erkannt, unser aller Inspirator.
Aber dein Stück ist doch sehr eigenständig, mit ganz origenellen Wendungen und Harmonien. Du kannst stolz auf dich sein.
Jetzt ist es genug, ich muss weiter üben. 🤗😉

Ja, ganz einfach war es nicht, durch die Tonarten zu wandern und dann wieder zurückzukommen...das hat schon seine Zeit gebraucht, bis es stimmig wurde.

Aber das Wichtigste ist : du hast etwas zu sagen , zu erzählen, bei dir geht es nicht um Effekte oder Fingergymnastik!

Vielen lieben Dank für deinen absolut netten Kommentar 🙏 da sind mir vorerst einmal die Worte weggeblieben, bzw war ich mit Lachen beschäftigt 😂
Ich war mir nicht so sicher, ob ich mir das mit dem intuitiven Zugang auch in der Barockmusik erlauben kann, gibt es da doch ziemlich genaue (Stimmführungs)regeln.

This is a very great piece rather distinct from your usual compositions that I've been listening for several days😀
Well composed and performed with its tempo marcando il basso, melodic lines, counterpoint...
I'm sure you enjoyed a lot composing it and Wolfgang listening to it.
The baritone guitar; an excellent choice !!
About baroque music..they were all the time improvising and copying one from the other..it's completely impossible to compose anything more that no reminds anything already there !!
I like each of your compositions but this one is undoubtely one of the top !!😃

In my childhood and youth I had to go to church all the time.We had a great organist there and I was always very fascinated by the harmonies, melody and bass lines...I don't really have a knowledge about baroque music, but enjoyed composing it in an intuitiv way.

Above all, do not deprive yourself of anything in composition but on the contrary invite us more often to discover all the musical riches that could run through your thoughts.
The music is yours and I agree with what Per-Olov writes.
There is so much music written and in reality so few notes on a staff that it seems complicated, even more so in a well-defined style not to sometimes associate a little bit of heard tune.
To tell you, I go from concert to concert all the time and I am able to give a song title from the first notes... well, I often hum a song that instinctively comes to mind while listening to a new composition on guitar.
It's not plagiarism, it's just that our brains wake up between two silences :)
To go further in thought, we could say that even the silences are similar and yet, each time, they are unique because they belong to the present moment.
The deep sounds of the Baritone and the images which advance and overlap lead us to a form of withdrawal and inner peace.
It's absolutely beautiful.
Congratulations Marianne for this ARIA which, if it was personal, already no longer belongs to you to enter the world of regulars.
If tomorrow I hear a few identical notes, I'll tell you... straight away :) :)

At last get the time this weekend to view my subscriptions and see your wonderful new piece. It's a beautiful piece and fits the baritone very well. Beautiful modulation in bar 21 to 28. I don't think it's possible to write a baroque style piece and avoid all existing motifs. If done this way I really don't mind.

Also, es geht in meiner Kirche (Abendmesse) in 2 Stunden los. Ich hoffe, dass ich der Musik gerecht werde.
Ich liebe solche Stücke. Sie sind gleichzeitig Konzerstücke (also Vordergrund) sowie auch nachdenkliche Musik (Hintergrund).

Hab nur ein Teil vorgespielt (das erste Drittel), technisch nicht so schwierig. [Oops - kurze Unterbrechung - Mama (91) hat eine Scheibe Gurke fallen lassen. Die (= Scheibe) musste aufgehobe werden). Ging gut I'm Gottesdienst.

As a child in Malta my grandmother used to take me to a huge old church with all the sweet old dears praying in their rosary beads!!! Such a peaceful, spiritual place!!! This is now my favorite!!!
