All these cars can be fixed. They shouldn’t be parted out unless it’s completely rusted out or smashed up. These older Mercedes are the best cars around. I enjoyed the video.
@@smacdiesel Totally agree with you. The guy taking the video is mistaken or doesn't appreciate that any complete structurally sound Mercedes can live on. He only seems interested in the interiors and bases his assessment on the seats to categorise them as a parts car.

Unbelievable, old Mercs whereever you see. Most of them could be fixed to have a second live on the road. Especially those type 124 are worth to get another chance on the road, but the others as well, like the 201 or the 126. Me I own a 124 230E station wagon with now 380.000 km. First engine, alloy wheels, aircondition, automatic gearbox, silver body and black interior. Thanks to the good care no rust. The car is used daily and runs a lot german Autobahn sometimes with topspeed (210 km/h). The fuel consumption is about 10 l/100 km.It's the best car I have up to today.
Great restoration potential in many of them especially the W124/140 being the not so dated ones, so won't look out of place if retrofitted with full EV drive !!
I own a 300SD 1983 126 chassis. I will never sale my car, it runs and drives, no smoke with still a lot of power with 150k miles! These diesels are tanks! Many of the parts on my car came from pick your part junk yards! And online mail order! But to me when you rebuild the steering, chassis, with new tires. The car rides and handles like smooth riding machine! Nothing like crushing at 75 on the freeway with that turbo inline five cylinder giving me 25 mpg! Mercedes-Benz diesel is my favorite car, should have bought one in my teenage years!
Those must be really popular down there. They are kind of rare up here in Washington. I cannot find any at the junkyards around me. Only a few for sale on marketplace.

Didn't find one with the mythical 1M miles. My 1985 300D is at 385K miles, but the factory engine died at 330K. The yellow 300TD at 10:00 is a 1985 CA model, the only year they used that frame-mounted air cleaner. Avoids the cracked brackets of the engine-mounted ones. I retrofit my 1984 300D to that. The original Trap Oxidizer should have been changed to a catalytic converter, as a free recall. The later is shiny (below exhaust manifold). Strange that the body is rusty and the underhood aluminum corroded, so must have come to Georgia decades ago. Between Canton and Roswell makes sense since the northern suburbs of Atlanta are where rich people live. Like most dealers, the prices are high. I paid $2500 for my 1985 in 2001 from an individual, $400 for my 1984, and got a 1983 300D free (craigslist, just tow it) which I used to repair my 1985 after an accident. If CA\AZ\NV, you shouldn't find any rusty sheet-metal, though the sun takes a big toll if parked outside.
@@woodsandbarclay I got the 1983 just 6 months ago. Apparently, it had been abandoned at a paint shop and a young man bought it for the diesel engine to put in a 4WD, which is a popular. He left it with his dad to discard, who just wanted it gone. Apparently parts had been sold off when I got it since no glass, doors, or seats. Otherwise the body was beautiful with new modern paint (baby blue), but no way to restore it at that point. I stripped everything else, including cutting off the quarter panels (in case a future hit), then hauled the body shell to scrap metal. The transmission case was cracked, but I saved the innards.
