Thank you for the comments pointing out auto park is only designed to help you park in tight/difficult spaces - but keep in mind even when it did that, it hit the curb, a car wing mirror and tried to park into a lamppost!

(Curbs don't count while backing in). As you have witnessed its verrrrry slow and it gets super close before it adjusts. But it does get the job done even though you may bite your nails a bit in the process. Many happy EV miles to you and Becky. Look forward to more content. I just past 30,000 miles and I'm still having blast with each OTA update!
Even though the auto park doesn´t seem to work perfectly yet, we still have to keep in mind that we are only at the beginning of the era of self-driving cars, and to be honest I think it already is amazing what this car can do on it´s own
Meh. If you want actual information, tesla driver is a better channel. Although jack is quite funny, he clearly doesn't know how the tesla works and is giving it a bad rep for no reason. Sure, the tesla uses the ultrasonic sensors right now, it isn't the best, but he could at least of reading the manual so he would know how to use the system when he is demonstrating it in a video. for the first 5 minutes he's looking for something that right in front of him. then, he starts parking and stops the system. I hope he does some research on future videos. Becky seems to know more than the car then he does!

Tesla's Autopark is an old Daimler sensor-based system. The ultrasound detects a wide enough gap between two vehicles and just lines you up with them. It's blind to kerbs etc.
I was thinking that if Jack ever put the Lovely sunglasses back up I would buy them but then I remembered my prescriptions already turn into sunglasses outside 😭
It only parks between two cars. In lots with no cars parked, it expect you to park. Jack, you have no confidence in the cars ability and you brake. Radar allows the car to stop, pull forward and steer back in exactly equal distance between the two cars.
I used to work for Tesla and was told by the service staff that it might be caused by wrongly calibrated cameras and that customers should wing by to get them newly calibrated. However, my 2019 Mercedes A-Class has Autopark and I too always have to take over mid way of the process because it would crash even in big parking spaces. It has no cameras except for the rear one and primary uses the ultra sonic sensors.
Fun fact: The Tesla Autopark only uses other cars as a guide to fit in the space, it's not using the lines on the road to park, I think it needs a tall and wide object to park next to it. And I think it can park next to buildings, under little bridges and next to big containers. Nice video!
Tried it in the Model S, asked the Telsa rep about it. You have to pull up to the space and stop as if you were to reverse into yourself, then the auto park should show up easier/better and then park for you

When it comes to using Tesla’s Auto parking you must put on your turning signal as your going along the area you would like to parallel or perpendicularly park. Just a tip lol, also it gives it the blue “P” instead of gray.

Those parallel spots are way too big to auto park for you (it assumes you can pull forward into it) it also passes by all those "other" places because they are all free of cars. The feature works in between 2 cars. It also is a bit wacky in the UK i see...

I think it only shows up in spaces where it would actually be somewhat difficult to park at for example: a little place with 2 cars or a parallel park but if there is a bunch of empty space there is no point because there is virutally no risk doing it yourself and it is easy.
Autopark feature currently can't recognise the parking lines, so it needs to be between 2 parked cars both with reverse and parallel parking. The P will show when there's a space between 2 parked cars and wouldn't appear if not.

When you use auto-park on the Tesla you should pull very close to the cars you want to park near, you literally have the back end on the side you want to park pass within about 1 foot of the back of the vehicle in front of where you want to park. It does not look at the lines. It will adjust the trajectory.
I mean you don't really need it if there are 2 or 3 spaces next to eachother because it's easy enough to do it yourself . It's there to help you in difficult situations when it is 1 space

You need to you past the parking spot by a few meters. This allows the car to get a full view of the spot and anything else that can stop the car..
