I have shelves full of bibles, and 5 brand new ESV full size bibles beyond what I can even use, but I just got this ESV pocket new testament with psalms and proverbs and not only am I most excited to read this book and spend time in it, but it's also the first bible I am wearing/carrying, I've got it on me right now. The ESV isn't my main translation but the thing that this edition does really well is chunk up the verses into paragraphs or blocks that divide the text really neatly by their form, structure, or content. I'm actually excited to find times to read this!
That is super awesome! I agree it is one of those editions that just tends to draw you in to read. Just out of curiosity, what is your main translation?
@@TheBibleReviewer That's a great question, I think it depends on the book or the setting. I've been really enjoying Robert Alter's Hebrew Bible but it's a 1-man translation of the old testament only so that shouldn't be the only thing. At church we use ESV, NKJV, RSV, and TLV, and at home I use CSB with the family. I'm not sure there is any one main translation I turn to but I quite often am checking the septuagint and the targums and various translations all the time.
I absolutely LOVEEEE this little thing. I never owned or was interested in a New-Testament-Only (+ Psalms/Proverbs) version of the bible until this one. The format is absolutely *perfect* for reading and my mom saw it and fell in love instantly. She got herself a copy as well. Excellent paper quality, clean text with no distractions of ANY sort, it’s just an awesome reading experience. So glad you reviewed this one!!
Thank you! It is a really great well rounded New Testament! The format is awesome. I personally would have liked some minimal footnotes, but as you said it does keep the text clean. ( also I’m beginning to think you own every Bible ever made haha)

I don't own a Schuyler bible myself, but I find it humorous how often people that do are compelled to let everyone know about it in the comments..typically when it doesn't even have anything to do with the topic. 😀
I've seen and held the leather version in a bookstore. I was impressed with the paper quality, font size and gold accents, especially at this price point, so I ordered the TrueTone version. It's a joy to read!

Here in uk , these are selling out everywhere but appear for resale way more expensive on different sites . I’m blessed to have the TruTone Cherry cover at a good price. Blessings from UK 🇬🇧

I have received my copy and the text layout is wonderful. 😎 Unfortunately the build quality and the make of my copy was very disappointing and cheaply made . 😭 The spine not glued properly and the 2 ribbons are glued on top of another . Had to fix the spine and the last page from the book of proverbs , is glued to the cardboard page , small amount . 🙈😂😭 Frustrated 🙈😂but the text layout is a beautiful thing to read and I wish they would have made a red letter one as well but I guess that they cut off costs .
