I really liked that touch to. My entire life i would always do the same and see all my neighbour's doing the exact same thing periodically when they were shoveling their own driveways.

as a Candian may I suggest from experience to shovel the snow in horizontal lines, since you have to move less weight at once. (also -5C isn't that cold relative to what we normally get, however, I understand that it may get cold for you.) (If you want to know how well adjusted we are to the cold, my local area has the rule for elementary schools that if it's above -25 you must go out.)
As a Canadian We had a dog named milo and we had him on a leash for a month so he didn't run off and I went out to walk him EVERY HOUR IN A MINUS 40 COLD WARNING And yet i still only wore a rain jacket😂😂😂
Our house is pretty warm inside during the winter so I usually wear shorts to keep comfortable. So if it's just a few cm of snow and barely 0, I won't even bother putting on long pants to shovel the snow. A toque and a light jacket is more than enough to keep warm especially since it'll only take about 10 minutes to remove it all.
As a Canadian from BC I can confirm this is way accurate, I was just outside earlier at -5 temp in a t-shirt shoveling snow 😂 Damn now its almost the end of July, i can't take this heat or all the f*cking wildfires, can't wait for the cold😂
I hate wet snow when shoveling. And, snowploughs when that wet snow freezes and the boulder-size chunks are pushed to the end of the driveway that require dynamite.
Bro, YESSSS! The snow here is insane 😭 Spend all day shoveling a sixty foot driveway as it’s still snowing only to get halfway up and realizing you have to go back to the bottom as it’s gained another two inches from the sky and a foot from the street plow 😅
As a Canadian I can confirm, Until it gets down to around -10c you should be fine to wear shorts and the like. Between that and -25c maybe wear a sweater. Also theres really no need for boots if the snow doesn't get up to your knees.
As someone who was born in America, but have lived in Canada essentially my whole life. I can survive -40 temperatures with ease, and 40 degree temperatures are nothing to me.
As a Canadian, I can say that -5 is really not that cold…
-20 is when you would wear socks gloves and a jacket
-20, yes. Socks and Jacket and stuff. I dint wear gloves since I dint rlly like gloves. -20 is jacket weather.

I don't know about Eastern Canada, but here in the West, we say 'Minus' rather than 'Negative' for temperatures below the freezing point.
Where I'm at it eastern Canada, we say its "below" as in "it's 5 below". Once the snow comes, we just say the temperature because we know its below 0.
