    First time I heard of this trail, but it looks challenging for sure! Those scrambles were no joke for day 1. The resupply city scenes were very interesting. Thanks for documenting a very unique trail, Sara!

      This trail was named in the National Geographic top 20 hikes list. Many Israelis were surprised that I would come all the way from Canada to hike it. I think it will grow in popularity quickly!

    So good to see you, sorry to hear you were sick. This trail looks really tough without the exposed edges and slippery surfaces, let alone the climbing. I'm with you on down-climbing, not my favorite activity.
    Heading over to the PCTA annual celebration at noon today in Vancouver, WA. The originally scheduled event was cancelled due to a big snowstorm awhile back. Should be an interesting meeting, a couple hundred people, and the head public affairs officer for the Gorge is presenting on the fire remediation efforts and our next recovery steps for the PCT and nearby trails.
    Looks like a great trip you're on. Is it cold there? Everyone looks bundled up and the it doesn't appear to be too sunny. Enjoy!

    I thought about adding the Israel National Trail to my list, but looking at some video, just looked like something above my skill level and capabilities. All that pretty dramatic rock scrambling....just not sure I could do it. There is a camino like trail there I understand called the Jesus Trail, I don't think it is nearly as long as the National trail, have not looked into it yet. Hoping it is a different trail, and not as difficult as the National Trail.

    • @SaraDhooma
      @SaraDhooma  5 років тому +1

      The desert is the most difficult part, I think it will be easier in the North near the Jesus Trail.

    How long is the trail and how many days are you planning? So far the scenery is nice but to many damn students coming from all directions. Do you know what they are learning or is this like a P.E. class? So instead of water caches , you pay for hidden water . How?

    • @SaraDhooma
      @SaraDhooma  5 років тому +1

      I paid a guy to bury water and he sent me a map (which is just a short video clip) for where to find it. The trail is like 700 miles. My flight is April 10 (start CDT on April 19) so I’ll see how far I get. Slow going because of the water limitations and terrain.

    • @SaraDhooma

    Knew you were ill after Greece, but you sound worse than I was expecting. Props to you for battling through that *and* the jet lag. This "trail" does not fool around, does it? Most trails are described as up/down/flat. This one eliminates "flat". 😲 Hard to imagine much wildlife abounds there, even though you came across those Ibex/Chamois animals. As you hiked/climbed/scrambled along through the day, I was wondering how/where you could "take care of business"; there appeared to be no mineral soil or trees/vegetation anywhere. Well, SMH, it was obvious! 😢🤢🤮
    I have been thinking about those Israeli students, and why they were out there. #1- School field-trip for good students as reward #2- School detention trip for delinquent students as punishment 😝😂🤣 Not sure which is better option... So, now that you have made it through Day 1, are you ready for a zero??? 😜😊🤣
