    Another amazingly good, gear review! I live the way you take the time to explain things, like the midi connection you made here. That was just perfect.

    It would be nice if they had more uniformity in getting across what type of of kits there are. Like is there a full 707-type kit? A full 606-type kit? I know it has a 909 kit, but some of the videos they made also don't clarify if these are factory sounds or anthology kits. It feels like kind of buying something blindly, as the actual company itself often seems vague about the details. I also had to look up if you could use it independently from a computer and a bunch of other things that they don't explain, which they should given that it is kind of a next-gen device.

    • @SynthManiaDotCom
      @SynthManiaDotCom  4 роки тому +1

      Info on the libraries at this page www.ikmultimedia.com/products/unodrum/index.php?p=libraries . You can use the machine independently from a computer. You use a computer to load sounds and firmware in. The 606-type kit is contained in Anthology Library 5. You get all the Anthology libraries (and a few more) when you register your UNO Drum at the IK website.

    Hi. Do you think the PCM samples can make classic DMX and Linndrum style sounds?

  • @localtechnique

    Nice demo Paolo! I'm sure you know this, but for anyone watching who doesn't, you should be able to use a regular TRS cable to link the two devices via MIDI. It's tidier than using the two breakout adapters and a MIDI cable. I think IK Multimedia use 2.5mm jacks though so you'd probably have to buy one from somewhere as it's not a cable you're likely to have lying around (unlike the more usual 3.5mm).

    • @SynthManiaDotCom
      @SynthManiaDotCom  5 років тому

      Thank you and yes, the MIDI jacks are 2.5mm - I don't have any 2.5 cables myself, but I'm sure you can get them online.

    IK Multi Media fucked me hard! I know they give out gear to influencers to gain positive reviews but here is my story: I went to Namm and was impressed by there tech with the IPad/iPhone the salesman informed that the sample tank was limited for iPad but purchasing it for the MacBook I could get all the features, I ended up buying SampleTank with all the premium sounds, the entire library which at the time was very expensive, I bought the iRig pro keys and I bought the iRig pro mic too. I travel allot for long periods of time so when my computer was stolen in India and it was the better part of year before I returned home. I went to download that huge library I had paid for and I was informed it had expired! WTF! There was no mention of expiration dates when I paid for all these sounds and I could get my sounds back for an additional fee per sound library that added up half my original purchase! This is how they treat their paying customers! Not to mention since my computer bag was stolen it had the propriety iRig pro keys cables in it, to replace those two cables, a usb and a lightning cost me 80 plus shipping for those proprietary and too short overpriced cables. I am glad you are having fun with the gear they supplied to you but I urge anyone and everyone to stay away from this company that is only out to take advantage of people and treats their PAYING customers like garbage. The customer “service” I.e. financial rape and disrespect has soured anything that this company will ever try to pawn off on the public. Buyer beware, know who you are dealing with. I recommend purchasing from more reputable companies like Arturia, Korg, and Roland. Even Behringer treats their customers better and is putting out better gear,

    Question is: Does it have a clock? Playing it with internal clock is pretty useless if you want to use synth with it.

    • @SynthManiaDotCom

      "USB power has inherent ground noise, so when connecting the UNO Drum directly to your computer via USB, you may hear more noise and interference than when the synth is connected to a USB wall charger or running via batteries. With the direct computer connection, you can reduce the USB ground noise and other interference by either using a USB isolator or a custom TRS cable into a balanced input on your preamp or audio interface where the ground is not connected at the balanced input side." Their very expensive here in Aus rrp $440 average a Arturia drumbrute impact was down to $400 just a while ago and the drumbrute is only $689? The new behringer 808 rrp is $669 but is unreleased , i just dont think its value for buck idk i prefer the po12 more as a portable light drummie or volcas at $220, but we are in the year pig so prices are high . Its just not something i want , if was same price as uno synth id prob get one .

    • @Monsterhunter2069
      @Monsterhunter2069 3 роки тому

      You should try both, I think the QC on Behringer its better, I have a uno drum and It is glitchy, sometimes the sequencer stops or gets crazier, the clap pad doesnt response very well in comparision with the others, anyway it sounds quite good with Reverb, but the ground noise Man, it Is really loud, on the other hand I use to had a Behringer ms 101, love the sound of the machine, but midi sync and the ground noise annoy very much that I sold it to a friend, nowadays I am looking for a Roland tr 6s, am Akai xr20 o a Novation Circuit

    The only thing I don't like about new equipment is the absence of MIDI connections.. :(=
    But I noticed that that machine does have midi in and out via tiny midi plugs. they're using 3.5mm TRS plugs for Midi.. I like that. Peace Paolo!

    • @SynthManiaDotCom
      @SynthManiaDotCom  5 років тому

      Yes, they are 2.5mm. It's no big deal to use the provided breakout DIN cables - many manufacturers currently do this.

    • @5argetech56
      @5argetech56 5 років тому

      @@SynthManiaDotCom thanks for the answer Paolo. I kind of don't like that, 2.5 mm plugs are very fragile. I've broken so many. I wish they were 3.5. 😐

    From a user review on Thomann:
    Very noticeable background noise.
    A far too short USB cable, unusable.
    AC adapter not included.
    No information about the required ampere rating.
    Fresh batteries last only 2 hours.
    Bad metronome sound with no volume control.

      @marcmistermarc 5 років тому +4

      "Very noticeable background noise." - I believe that it's a standard problem when using USB power. I have the same issue when using an iPad. I hear that a USB isolator adaptor cures the problem but they cost £15 upwards.It's annoying because it's an issue as old as the USB spec and manufacturers are passing the problem on to the user because it saves them money to provide hardware powered this way.

    They beat Behringer to the market w/ their 808 clone. This thing is also about 300 Euro, just like the Behringer probably will be. However, no analogue outputs and it has an interface that is very hard to grasp if you ask me. If this thing was about 200 Euro's they might have had a winner. Good review by the way. To me it seems to be a bit of a Jack Of All Trades (808 and 909) but master of none.
