To me Moonie is the world's greatest drummer, & no other has come close to him. This was a brilliant tribute to him. It brought tears to my eyes. A pure genius on the drums. Thanks for sharing it.
mottthehoople684 He was the epitome of the sad clown. "Gotta laugh to keep from crying." That's why I have been fascinated by him since I was a child. He was handsome, talented, famous and kind of rich (lol, I hear he spent it faster than he made it...) women throwing them self at him...but nothing seemed to make him truly happy....so he acted like a clown to hide his sadness. Oh, I'm pretty sure he was ADHA and bipolar as well...or maybe the partying made him that way? I would have loved to have known what went on in his head...
@@Ginger7024 after the accident with his driver... Anything would have been possible, every once in a while a Ray of sunshine, talent, what ever you call it comes into our lives. The song is over... RIP KEITH MOON.
@@pilarmorin4405 I didn’t put that together...but, yes...that he carried heavy in his heart....Peter Butler...great story teller but not so great with time lines...but, it remains one of my favorite books...he also described very bipolar behavior when he was very young...manic episodes followed by times he would lock himself in his bedroom and play surfer music for days and then pop out of his room and be manic again....the bipolar lows must have been horrific measured by the apparent highs....he had no choice but to ride his emotion roller coaster...no diagnosis and rock and roll fame at such a young age to add complexity...
Quite a beautiful tribute. There's no shame in accuracy. He was the Spirit of Rock and Roll. Like Father Christmas on speed. He was a delight to the world and those who knew him. But he was a train wreck tragedy.
People come at Keith Moon just like they come at all other things that are original and not the same ol thing because they just don't understand pure genius, just like with most of the most influential people of our time... Peple will write them off sying they are crazy because they have new idea's or new style's of doing things... That WAS Keith Moon.. The most innovative and skilled drummers of all time. There wil NEVER be another.... Keith Moon
The brightest stars burn out too quickly. Keith and John were the greatest rhythm section in Rock & Roll. Heaven and Hell, Wherever they are jamming with Jimi, Janis, George, John (Lennon and Bonham) and Duane, the heavens are rocking...HARD !!!
Hard to believe he's been dead almost 37 years now. It almost feels as if it were yesterday. I got into The Who in the mid 70s so I was not lucky enough to see The Who live with Keith Moon as I was 12 years old when he died. I still love The Who today but think their best years were with Keith Moon. RIP............
never be another like him.saw him pass out playing substitute at boston garden in 75,when they returned to make up the show he came running out and jumped over his drum kit with room to spare...anyone out there want to try that?
At 1:18 t the Cow Palace , he was with some bint 5 hours prior. She thought it would be a jolly to give him in his drink without him knowing Gorilla sedatives that they inject to the poor animals prior to shipping them off to zoo's. Unknow by Keith he had no idea. Until this moment when he fell upon his drum set. What an unkind thing to do....you unknown bint rot in hell.
Look! Keith came here for a short time, right! He didn't have time to fuck about! He was here to teach and to entertain. He did both in his 32 years.....if you didn't get Keith's message "live now, live huge, fuck tomorrow!" Well, sorry but you will have to go round again! HAHAHAHAHAHA :-) Love Peace and Light!
Wow, he finally has a marker at Golders Green! When I was there in 1997, he had no real marker, you just stood at the field where his ashes were dispersed and paid your respects.
@MusicIsDeadToday .. WOW i just saw that video to the right with Keith playing with Elvis.. Elvis was just about to say who was playing bass and Keith started Wailing away on the drums, and Elvis just looked back at him and laughed and shook his head LOL.. How EPIC!!
This excellent mix is "Underture"/"Sparks"/"Amazing Journey" (from TOMMY); "Won't Get Fooled Again" (aka 'CSI Miami Theme'); "The Song Is Over" (both from WHO'S NEXT)
I always find that footage of him collapsing at the Cow Palace really distressing. It must have been annoying and worrying in equal measure for the rest of the band. It'd be nice to go back 30 odd years and try and stop him following such a destructive path in his life and then we wouldn't all miss him so damn much, eh?
Good Video, Showing both Sides is Good alos to show people what happens when you spiral out of control with recreationals, every Shooting Star Does Crash & Kieth was the Showman Entertainer Clown if you will, to keep people smiling & guessing Whats next with Him? He Was troubled bcz Recreationals Do wreak havoc to the emotional system & Kieth Just Kept on going to Not have the hang-Over after-crash. Thank you For sharing the Gorilla Tranq input, I Didn't Know that< & it cant Be proven but kieth was a "Balls to The Wall' Doer/Partier That Wouldn't Stop With downers so He Kept going until His Body Crashed on Him.... Overload Too long Does that. R.I.P Kieth Keep On Drumming In the Thunder Of the Weather...
Keith suffered from too much success at an early age, as he drank and drugged he lost control as most do. When he accidentally ran over and killed his driver I believe he lost it and fought that demon until the end. I also believe he killed himself. It's a very sad story but anyone will lose their mind with that much fuel
...sweet..beautiful and flawed ...keith moon needed a mentor..he was getting there...how he made it thru his 20's is hard to figure..but pound for pound..he played the drums the way they should be played..passionately and tastefully..I consider him #1 in rock.....
@MusicIsDeadToday .. I remember I was really excited to hear Ringo's son drum because he was taught by Keith, but he really wasn't that similar in style, although he was still good.
what song is in the beginning?!!! BTW, i love ur vid!!! it's so amazing.... sad as well, their will NEVER be another Keith Moon. Neither will there be another John Entwistle!!! (notice the NEVER!) great vid!!! =')))
oooh, could you tell me where that photo was taken with that "There is no Substitute" plaque on the brick wall? was/is that a memorial wall or something in london or wembley with other famous musicians?
this is great but I would have left out the news clip about Neil Boland there is a lot of evidence that it wasn't Keith's fault and as it haunted him his entire life it just does not belong in a tribute video. I always design a tribute with the subject mind as if HE himself was watching it. Great job otherwise.
I loved his wild drumming.Couldn't understand all those practical jokes.Maybe he was bored. He was one of the four:the Who!He surely was a driven drummer.Died way too young.
to the guy who who said about keith liking balls, i dont think this should of been flagged cos i think you referring to the interview when he's playing pinball and don;t think think you ment to be offensive
To me Moonie is the world's greatest drummer, & no other has come close to him. This was a brilliant tribute to him. It brought tears to my eyes. A pure genius on the drums. Thanks for sharing it.
I think God wanted to be a rocknroll drummer for a little while and made himself Keith Moon..And grew up, lived and died as Keith Moon...ROCK ON
" The only time Keith was serious was when he was crying." Pete Townshend..When I look at some of these pictures I see melancholy in his eyes..

Wow, he finally has a marker at Golders Green!

WOW, 30 years gone. How times does fly....
Thankyou for this ! What an amazing guy x
Something spooky. In my neighborhood there is a woman with a son about 16 yr's old who is the spitting image of Keith but he doesn't play drums.
Rest in peace Dear Boy,,,,
Great tribute. Thanks for sharing.
Manic clown prince of rock. Sleep well, beautiful boy.We all miss you. There will never be another Moon...
Thanks for the tears
Pure Genius but Never Forget mister john ENTWISTLE
2:33 Keith
R.I.P kieth you will always be the beat
@MusicIsDeadToday .. WOW i just saw that video to the right with Keith playing with Elvis.. Elvis was just about to say who was playing bass and Keith started Wailing away on the drums, and Elvis just looked back at him and laughed and shook his head LOL.. How EPIC!!
He was DEEPLY human in an evermore inhuman world
I ❤ K.M.
Great video!!!! @ Laura Bianchi: The plaque is at Golders Green Crematorium in London where his ashed were scattered in the Garden of Rememberance.
This excellent mix is "Underture"/"Sparks"/"Amazing Journey" (from TOMMY); "Won't Get Fooled Again" (aka 'CSI Miami Theme'); "The Song Is Over" (both from WHO'S NEXT)
There will never be a substitute.
This should have way more views!
Great vid and nice song at the emd; fits with the whole theme very well.
so nice !
34 years yesterday... There is no substitute !!!
thanks for that!
@MusicIsDeadToday.. at the end of the Isle of Wight DVD, when they did that cool baseline as a Tribute to Keith it almost brought tears to my eyes!!

You did a good job dear boy

905Alive I don’t know if he meant to kill himself or was waisted and accidentally overdid it because he thought he was indestructible....
happy birthday keith
@MusicIsDeadToday If u ever saw the Isle of Wight concert it shows Keith and the band in ALL their glory!!
There could never be a"Substitute"
D; so freakin sad!
So what if it seems dark to them. He definitely had a dark side and to dismiss that is to dismiss the man himself.
couldnt have said better :)

it's sparks by the who. it's all the who.
Best Toilet explosion professional that ever lived
@MusicIsDeadToday ... So true
that picture at the end of the plaque that says "Keith Moon WHO Drummer there is no substitute" where was that taken?
Maximum R and B Marquee- think, London
Nice video for a great drummer. To all of you who haven't read it, check out the biography:

como se llaman las canciones del video?
Joe Walsh was very afraid when he heard Moon liked him. Haha

@MusicIsDeadToday I truly Hope so my friend
Such a sharp, spontaneous wit Moonie was, right up there with his mate Viv Stanshall! Exhibit A:

No argument from me. But I will also add Ringo and Charlie Watts.
they are human metronomes.
