Best review of this audio player on UA-cam.
May I ask which headphones you enjoy using the most with this player? Did you notice any difference between unbalanced and balanced outputs? (3.5mm compared to 4.4mm?)
The following observations I made with the 3.5mm output only. I will have to try a 4.4mm to stereo XLR cable later, which is on order.
With studio monitors and a servo controlled subwoofer, I found the
Apodizing fast roll-off,linear phase filter - the most pleasing to my ears, but it was missing clarity and emotion.
Switching to High Gain from Low took a blanket off of the sound, increasing clarity. Still missing emotion.
Adding the 2nd Harmonic in the filters, and having volume between 100-115 out of 120 max made the M15s sing now.
I am curious if you noticed a difference in tone with volume levels with headphones.

I was going to try to improve my chain (He1000SE , m15s and Cayin C9), but I wonder if spending 2000€ would help really. Since I added the Cayin c9 it was big improvement with the M15s, it is crazy. Was thinking about the N7 but… not sure. The m15s seems very very good already
Can I use this simply with the Sennheiser HD600 headphones? Or do I need an amp on top of that?

Hi! Could you please share your opinion about my dilemma?
I wanna change my set-up from A&K SR25 and Fiio FA-9 to Fiio M15s(or iBasso DX240) and Focal Clear MG.
And at this point I don't know what change first. I cannot buy all of the stuff at one time :)
erm i think it's up to you which to buy first but if i were you i would buy the headphone first.

I think if you pair a set of headphones or IEMs that sound a little bright then you should turn on the 2nd harmonic option to tame that area....

I'm thinking of picking up one of the m15s mostly to connecting to my vehicle for music. Would this make a difference in the power and clarity of the music comparing to a phone? (Samsung s23 ultra) thanks

No one difference if it used as digital transport for car audio system. No big power nor biggest clarity at all.

Using a cable will make the difference. If you use it with BT won't make any difference.

Apart from the power output for headphone these daps are not better than a good dongle really...The sony a306 more powerful than the shanling m0?That's a surprise,did not expect that.Thanks.
Just the truth, a 50$ dongle will sound just as good, even the apple dongle does the job, the only use case for daps is if you dont want all the distractions a phone brings

@@renbanhart.s no offence, no idea what headphones you are listening, but it makes a BIG difference, good look trying to play u64 IEM, campfire, hifiman IEM with a phone dongle wahahahaa😂😂 either you are deaf or you are just beeing annoyingly ignorant refusing to accept and hear that it makes all the difference.
