    I have 3 of these motors. 2 bump start versions and all 3 have the black head with a purple protective cover.
    I also learned how to fine tune a motor thanks in part to the Hyper 8 port. I eventually used Lucky 7 engine sealant to seal the back plate and carb.

      I almost bought some of that sealant back in the day. I'm glad I never got into using sealants, I hate cleaning them off.

      @NitroTalkwithTodd that's definitely a downside. On engines like the hyper .21 it was a godsend. I also used it on my Team Associated MGT 8.0 that. 50 heli motor leaked pretty bad around the back plate.

    This was a better vid. Nice job. I have a black head hyper 21 8 port. I’m in the middle of refreshing it now. Nice talking points about o-rings. So many people under estimate their importance. Not on the hyper 21 but another carb, but not too long ago, I had a similar o-ring issue. Brand new carb and had bad 3rd needle o-rings. It would leak out on the prime, they were so bad. LoL.

      I had a hyper 21 8 port with silver head and a backplate. 😊

    I have this engine. It was given to me back in 2004 i believe. The guy gave it to me because he didnt think he could sell it. He wanted a different engine. He gave it to me with the exhaust pipe. Ive never run it. I have 2 Sportwerks Mayhems i just pulled out after 22 or 24 years.

      The carb will need a rebuild, but it is a solid engine

      @NitroTalkwithTodd That's great. Thank you very much. I figure the seals are garbage lol. I'm going to open it and take a look at the sleeve.

    Maybe good idea to review the newer Hyper .30 with COPS unique feature that many don't know about.

    Ive just picked up 2x Hobao Hyper STs, one has this hyper 21 8 port engine and i wanted to put a pull start on it, as the ones i have are bump start on a starter box only

    • @NitroTalkwithTodd
      @NitroTalkwithTodd  5 місяців тому +1

      It's certainly doable, they made a lot of hyper 21s so the parts are out there.
      But in my opinion, I would say get a starter box. The price of a starter box and the price of the parts to convert that engine are comparable. You have two truggys, so you might be headed the starter box route eventually anyway. If you do decide to convert the engine, feel free if you have any more questions. Thanks for watching

      @@NitroTalkwithTodd i have a starter box already, but was trying to eliminate having to carry it out and about, another thing to charge, and if the engine stalls you have to either carry the car back to the box, or take the box to the car. Not always convenient

    What was the alternate carb you were running, Axial what?

    • @NitroTalkwithTodd
      @NitroTalkwithTodd  8 місяців тому

      The common Axial carb(.28 .32 engines)is marked K90B. The Axial carb on the engine in this video is from the .21rr and is marked A90A. Thanks for watching

    The mid needle is really unnecessary and not a help to newbies trying to tune a carb, I've worn out one of those engines, they're pretty solid motors and hold a tune well normally.

    • @NitroTalkwithTodd
      @NitroTalkwithTodd  4 місяці тому

      I agree, adjustment of the mid needle should probably be avoided. This engine specifically is prone to air leaks at the mid needle, so I do recommend maintenance. I'm not sure if I made the point in the video, but this engine runs great with the mid needle flush, so I recommend leaving it there. Thanks for watching
