This film is documenting the contrasts between the shiny, expensive shopping mall (they now seem to be everywhere in HK ), build for Mainland tourists (surprisingly empty shops though) and the real daily life of local people. Great work, Dennis!
right, when you watch the last portion of this video, starting from 2:09:47, I am aiming to the area where now is transforming shops to serve Chinese mainlanders, when you see the so-called "drug stores"are selling milk power, diapers, medicine oils, shampoo, and makeup to "who" bringing the big and small suitcases for "shopping"
@@H.K.Archive thank you for the detailed info. I checked out the point of time you stated. It's a shame that they seem so greedy instead of showing some HK pride and responsibility for their own people. It's still making me sad to see the real, typical HK dissappear more and more
40:00 Dennis l,m assuming up to now gimbal used and maybe camera stabiliser OFF as I detected no shimmer up to now. Shoulder mount and camera stabiliser ON, Shimmer becomes apparent . I have discovered with my GoPro 7 camera stabiliser OFF and gimbal used for inside work and outside, camera stabiliser ON with option for gimbal if desired will keep jitters and Jerky pans to near zero. Just my 2 cents worth. 🤔😉 Jitter and jerky movements caused by camera constantly trying to find stabilisation in low light conditions.
the gimbal fools gopro not to have stabilization on, it is because "auto" and "off" mode only, can't manually on, so it turns out off most of the time, where shoulder mounted may cause it "on" when too shaky. as my understanding low light condition may not work for stabilization
I love watching this, the streets were more fun than the mall. Looking forward to some of the Christmas decor in the malls next month. So enjoyable! And just think this historical record will be so very valuable 5, 10, 15 years from now.
I miss my vacation here. It had been 6 years ago which was my first time visting hong kong. But i livied somewhere else. Now that my uncled moved, it was like anotber journey for me again.
HK malls are westernized. Very clean, also seen some big name brands that we have here ! I wonder why these shops are quite empty! Thanks for the tour! 👍
@ Dennis, Many shopping malls are shutting down here, because the stores are closing. Shoppers go online, they take advantage of the free shipping and handling and free return if you don’t like the item you purchased. Besides, it’s a bigger crowd...eBay, Amazon, Walmart these big companies have taken over......check this....make sure to scroll down through the page...clark.com/shopping-retail/major-retailers-closing-2018/
HK is such a small city compared to US, so that mail order is not the main stream. However, I need to buy stuffs online, i.e "China-ebay" or "China-amazon" because can't find items in real store. HK has a higher rental price, e.g. Mong Kok, Causeway Bay area, small business or non-main-stream shops can't be survived, therefore, variety choose is decreasing. Furthermore in worst, 2003 opened the door for mainlanders coming into HK, many shops convert itself to treat these visitors, correct me if I am wrong, many mainland investors see this opportunity and "steal" the store location. Moreover, the 4 biggest developers also join-in, they only rent to brand-name-shop, general public don't need an expensive bags and clothing, usually upscale shopping malls located in tourist area, not in residential area or in urban. Yuen Long is an old town in N.T, because of cross-border-bus taking people into there, I believe this high-class-mall is welcome to them, but the fact is ,majority of them aren't come to the malls, instead they are "buyers" for milk power, diaper, medicine oils, makeup etc. Why? Because people in China don't trust shops in China is selling genuine product. If this continue for next 5-10 years, Hong Kong is going down unless government do something, but not I have seen so far. So, if you see the malls is clean and looks good, all I can say is: rent too high! Salary isn't that high! K.P. will tell you how expensive they are !
I am definitely not a fan of the shoulder mount position (unless it can be corrected showing left and right side equally) of the camera because it is showing the majority of the video on the left-hand side, each time you walk past a store as if you are videoing inside the store itself. The right side receiving very little coverage.
it is because I put there manually, before youtube launched its "automatic generation system" which I believe it is a "A.I. system" at back-end, the system recognizes human voice, English mostly, then closed caption is given once the system operated, however, system is not always "on" even English speaking. I hope one day there will be more different language closed captions as long as A.I can replace human translation.
Nice insights. I miss walking behind and beside you

hongkongmap I can understand why the rent is extremely high, HK space is limited, very small & overpopulated...
Starting from the very beginning, the place to your left is where I eat dim sum every time I come to Hong kong
Great video..how about doing a video about crossing the border into Shenzhen
Steve NNNOOOO they might keep him 😱😄

That is a nice mall! Must be new. Also I like the subtitled description of where you are (even inside the mall), is that a new feature of Google maps?
you mean closed caption? it is always a youtube common feature
@@H.K.Archive usually the caption only appears when someone is speaking English. Here the caption appears without anyone talking.
