I think we were meant to assume that Nick‘s mom was there at the Christmas party and she was always in a different room when we were seeing in their house. So when Nick was in the kitchen, she was probably out in the living room talking to people and then when he’s in the living room, she was probably in the kitchen cleaning up or making something.
charlie got out of the facility just on december 17 and ep 5 is christmas time, i know ya'll love tori but she made charlie her only lifeline and charlie is in a mental health emergency where he needs to be out of that environment where his mom is acting like the victim, his grandparents are commenting about his weight, and other family mambers are bombarding him with invasive questions. charli did the right thing and as an older sister myself i do not blame him and was actually a bit annoyed at tori at that one moment
I love Tori but Charlie's mental health was more important in that moment. I think people forget how Charlie stayed in a toxic situation with Ben before or was bullied before that led to unhealthy and harmful habits which he's in therapy for now to help him with. Him staying would of just been him reverting back to past behavior and would of made things much worse. So all the people mad with Charlie about that I truly don't understand.
Yah Tori’s feeling of rejection is understandable, however, Charlie was in a triggering and toxic situation that could have resulted in a fallback to ED behaviours. Sorry, but Charlie did what he needed to do to protect himself… and when you think of all the ways he puts his needs and emotions on the back burner, to protect Nick or his friends, it’s nice to see him prioritize his own needs for once.
You skipped Charlie's christmas wishes. He asked for grandparents who don't comment on his weight. Which is the first thing they did once they came in, that he looked skinny and they thought "that place" was supposed to take care of that. And while leaving Tori behind was sad, she has made him her only person. You have to do whatever you have to prioritize your mental health. Charlie couldn't stay there.
They also missed the lovely kissing scene on Kit's bed after Charlie changed into Kit's clothes, they should probably pause the video while they are talking because they are missing so much important dialogue and visual stuff.
24:55 is so friggin cute, and then "is this sustainable? I'm tryna do my part..." "Just drink it Imogen 🙄" lol. Unless I'm mistaken, I think at least some of that was improved, which makes it even better 😂
About toplessness in the rugby change room. I was a ballet dancer and had a quite tight fitting school uniform. The entire change room of girls (Australia, 1980s) had techniques we picked up from each other how to change from one outfit to another without ever EVER having any of our entire torsos nude. You’d never even see us in underwear or a bra. We took those off from under our outer clothes, and put on our ballet gear on (or sports uniform at school) while wearing our everyday uniform or clothes on top. Don’t know what it’s like in boys change rooms, but if Charlie wanted to hide scars, there’s ways of changing that would do that. Also explains why he wore his sports cotton sweater over his sports polo short sleeved top for rugby practise in season 1. As an asthmatic every time I see a pug dog my lungs hurt in sympathy As you said, you can see from Char’s mum’s parents where she gets her lack of parenting skills (and positively harmful language even if coming from a place of love and concern) from. The Mum and Charlie himself are suffering from a lack being modeled or outright taught relationship, communication, and personal boundary skills. It obviously didn’t occur to the mum to previously set down discussion rules with Charlie for the relatives. Her parents stomp all over others boundaries as soon as they get in the door, and she doesn’t seem to know she has a right to tell them what is and is not acceptable conversation and behaviour from them. Or know how to enforce those boundaries. Aquiring people skills is an incredibly important art, and Charlie does well to remove himself from a harmful environment, but is not yet skilled enough to think of options outside rigid rules of conventional behaviour in order to include Tori’s needs as well as defending his own. For example Charlie could have invited Tori to Nick’s Family’s Christmas. Not strictly normal social behaviour in the circumstances, but perfectly acceptable. Or Charlie could have plead for Nick to come around when he could to Tori’s room where Charlie and Tori would go to hide out together. I think Alice Osman wrote the Elle radio interview storyline in response to real life pressures and situations the actor Yasmin Finney found herself in after Heartstopper blew up. Alice would have collaborated with Yasmin on it, the way she collaborated with Darcy’s actor Kizzy Edgell to get Darcy exploring non-binary looks and pro-nouns after Kizzy the person came out as male, using he/him and they/them pronouns. The meows around the cat statue were entirely improvised. Joe started and the others followed. Imogen’s ‘is the wine sustainable? I’m trying to do my part’ question also improvised, and it’s a genius character moment, harking back to her vocalising “I’m an Ally”.
Agreed, and agreed! Elle and Tao have had some great growth from season 1, all the way through to season 3. The Paris trip alone was such a pivotal journey for them, and now they've done the next step together. It's beautiful to watch 🙌
32:10 you know them boys is bricked the hell up.... 😂😂😂 It starts to fall apart after Charlie gets stuck in his head about his body image and everything (been there so I get it), but they are _so_ horny for each other the second half of this season. It's still sweet and wholesome in the way it's portrayed though, instead of feeling explicit/exploitative or just "boner boner boner, sex sex sex" (for lack of a better way to describe it LMFAO). The way it feels to be a teenager in love.... ❤ Lol
Agreed. Once those inner demons appear, it's wnjoĺto enjoy the moment. It's lovely to see how understanding Nick is, and he even said that there was a time when he wasn't ready. They're so supportive 😩😭😍 Thanks for watching 🫶
@@therainbowreels yeah, forreal. I've had those "inner demons" screw things up in the moment, and I wish I'd been with someone like Nick at those times.... I LOVE when he tries to comfort and says to Charlie "I love you. I want YOU" because it's such a simple yet effective way of portraying how much emotional attraction can play a role in how intense a sexual attraction can be. I'm all for sex positivity and have hooked with people/ had casual interactions that were a lot of fun, but sex is typically sooo much better when you're in love with or have some kind of real connection with the other person, and tbh, things don't always fully _work_ down there for me when that's not the case (if ya catch my drift), which might seem like TMI, but I think it's important for people to normalize and understand that, because I've been made to feel self-conscious or embarrassed about it in the past when things didn't go exactly as planned... Hard as a rock with boyfriends or long-term "buddies," but not so much with most hookups sometimes 🤷
I really enjoy seeing the perspective of Europeans to this amazing show. Thanks for doing this, and for having such sweet and intelligent thoughts about it! I'm likely nowhere near the first person to make this observation, but it seems to me that the two of you are like grown-up versions of Nick and Charlie - the fair-complected one with red hair, and the darker one with wavy or curly dark hair.
44:36 Yes, with Elle, she's worried that something might trigger her gender dysphoria. With Charlie, he has something closer to body dysmorphia. The anorexia and OCD make it hard for him to eat. And he's worried Nick won't find him attractive. Plus he's self-conscious about his scars.
i love your reaction and i just got a question i like to join on your patron and just like to know is it the same as you tube does it go in and out because of copie rights or can u see the hole pic just like when u watch it on netflix and also are your reactions fall uncut reaction i love to see what else u got on your patron

Oh that's for sure. We just love making fun of the "scheduling issues" 🤣🫶

Thank you 🫶 😊

That was indeed very cute 😍
It's nice that they have had some "closure" in this episode. This does indeed feel improvised now that you say it 🤣👏
I really like how Nick kisses Charlie, and that tiptoe kiss is everything. It brings the memories about me and my first boyfriend…

47:58 Stop flirting in the group chat 😂😂😂
🙈🥰
Ah no! You can’t miss Nellie! ❤ she is just too cute! 😊
Nellie is a fan favourite at this point 🥰😍
Tao’s growth since season 1 is so great. Love him…and Will Gao is incredibly sexy. ❤️

14:00 You can just BARELY hear Troye Sivan's song in the background. I think it's "Rush."
The radio host totally ambushed Elle. Hated that part! I would've told them to shut it down as soon as I saw my daughter's face.
We are quite surprised that none of her parents went in and pulled her out. But they might have been in shock. Uncomfortable scene, but well played.
