    Wow, that was a fabulously in-depth review, very comprehensive indeed. You certainly have spent a bit of time with this watch. I have been after a Casio for ages now, been a Seiko and Citizen fan for years, and was tossing up getting a Mudman - until I saw this watch. Quad sensor and so many features and functions, almost like a smart watch but better. Your review/instructional guide was top notch, and when my watch arrives I will be re-watching your video for hands on instruction. Thanks heaps for taking the time. Cheers mate.

    15:17 Hello there. I just have a question: how can I get that track with all that curves, just like your path actually was in real time? I just can't make it happen... I long press to log....and the recording starts...i make the walk where I want....but when it saves, after I long press again 5sec, in the app I only get 2 -3 random straight lines that connects the start and end point, not the actually path with curves and so on?😢😢
    I just don't know how to do it.
    Could you please teach how to do it? I'd send you a picture with the actual recordig so you can see what I mean...

      I noticed that route log is actually record GPS data of the phone. But , when your phone screen is off, Protrek apps didn’t get that GPS data. Then i make my phone screen always on, then it worked just like Avenza App or just like this Yt Channel showed.
      I think it’s because android location access is set as “using GPS - allowed only while in use.. app” not “Allowed all the time”. This setting can’t be changed because of the Protrek app don’t have “allowed all the time” location option

    Thanks for the really detailed review. I have two questions. 1. What type of battery life would you expect from a watch such as this? It does not have a solar feature. Should it have one? Does Casio have a similar model with solar charging? 2. I really like the fact that it can hook up to a smartphone and that just expands the feature set. Do you know of any other brands that are similar? Again, thanks for the review.

    Excellent review and walk through of the features on this watch. I bought one about 6 weeks ago and was looking for a review like this one prior to my purchase. I really love this watch. I wasn’t too keen on the strap when I got it. I don’t really like Casio straps in general. Fortunately this watch is easy to swap straps. FYI the lug width is 23mm. An oddball size which limits choice, but I was able to pick up a Strapcode bracelet that fits, and now this watch is so comfortable I find myself wearing it more and more. I didn’t buy it to be a daily wear watch, but I am really enjoying it, so it has made its way into the rotation alongside my much more expensive watches. Anyway, thanks for the review. Liked and subscribed.

      Big Dog Thank you very much. I’ve always had the dual screen Pathfinders and this analog is a refreshing change. Especially with the digital features. I think 23mm lugs are becoming a thing. Just say the new Tag Autavia is also 23mm.

    Great jn-depth review! You show and explain the functionality really well. One question though, can the bluetooth be completely turned off on the watch? Also, has the indicated battery life been accurate in your experience? I’ve been using the Casio SGW-500h for a few years now and it’s great but lately I’ve been looking for something similar (including the form factor without the curved sides you now see in a couple of interesting watches with similar functions) but with a step counter built in alongside the ana-digi functionality and magnetic compass.

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I always like these videos to work as a resource, and I’m glad they help. These use Bluetooth low energy, no way to turn it off, but it’s not really battery consuming either. I’ve always found Casio batteries to go much longer than advertised. BUT…..with watches with these functions, you may find the more you use the functions, the battery life could be affected.

    Hi DougFNJ, I am a UK viewer of this video which is great! Could you advise on the following please? If you replace the battery yourself, will that not possibly damage the water seal? Does the bezel move easily, or require a little effort. I get irritated moving them back in position. I think it's great that you seem to answer everyone's questions. I am torn between this watch and the Pro-Trek PRG 600-1CR. Which would you choose? I know that the PRG is solar, but a lot of functions use the screw in button. Many thanks Terry Davis.

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  2 роки тому

      Thank you Terry! I typically have jewelers change the battery so they could properly reseal it with the correct seals. You can order the seals off eBay or maybe Casio as well and keep it watertight. If you go into the water a lot with watches, its always suggested to get the water resistance checked annually. The bezel does move easy enough both directions, but I don't find myself having to adjust it often. I always personally prefer more functions, but that is very subjective to budget, and just buying what you need. I love Solar, I find my solar watches. My 10 year old solar watches still don't need battery changes.

      Hi Sophian, thank you for watching! Are you using an iPhone? The first thing that happens when I tap into all activity is to give permission to the app to access my photos. As I was actively using the activity, I took photos during the hike, they automatically attached into the points I took them. It was very streamlined. Check your app permissions, that should fix your problem. Please let us know if that works.

    Thank you for the great review and I really appreciate the effort! I would like to know one thing: I was impressed with the function where you record a A to B route and one you are at point B, the watch can reverse the route to help you navigate back to point A. Question: Does this require that the phone should be connected to the internet???? Asking this because we generally do not have cellular service on our trek routes. Would be great to see your response.
