- Imelda Bustamante and her husband have been #homeless for more than 4 years. They moved to Los Angeles from Riverside County just before the #pandemic with the promise of a #job. That job never happened. 😔 #homelessness #shorts

Drug addiction isn't just a disheveled look. Some people actually look functioning.

I work full time and am the most reliable at my place of employment but i do have a pretty serious alcohol addiction. I never go to work intoxicated but as soon as im off i just drink as much as my stomach will hold.
But i see a bunch if homeless who everyday just panhandle, drink/use, find somewhere to pass out and repeat

My hubby and I were homeless at one point and not one person would help us. We called every shelter in our city and nearby cities and every government tax payer funded place that are supposed to help people. It was in the winter in a foot of snow and we ended up sleeping in abandoned houses and places like that. It was a terrible time in our lives. The government doesn't care. They only care about helping people who are here illegally. They don't mind using our tax dollars to help people who are here illegally but not American citizens
My boyfriend was homeless when i met him at our job. He told me shelters wouldn't accept him cuz he didnt qualify since he worked. He barely started working idk how they expected him to find a place when he hadn't got his first paycheck. That was 3 years ago. Hes good now.
@@gutimar0328 Yea that's unreasonable to expect him to be able to get a place to stay before he's even received his first paycheck. Being homeless is a really tough spot to be in because it's easy to get in the position of homelessness but very hard to get out of that situation. It's one of those things where you feel like you can't win because in order to hold down a job you need a place to stay but in order to have a place to stay you need a job! But I'm glad to hear that things are good now! My mom and stepdad ended up buying a half double and I live on one side and they rent out the other side, and they don't charge me much. But if it weren't for them owning this house and giving me such a good deal, I wouldn't be able to afford to make ends meet. They bought this half double just so they could help me so if it weren't for them I don't know what we would do. Before they bought this half double me, my hubby, and our daughter were having to stay at a motel and our weekly income barely covered the weekly motel cost. I don't know how people get out of homelessness without any help, but some manage to do it. It's definitely a horrible thing to go through.

@@joesmith3590 I didn't do anything to destroy my life. People fall on hard times. We both had jobs and he got laid off and my hours got dropped down to part time and we were both actively seeking other employment, then they didn't put me on the schedule for 2 weeks, and that's when we became homeless. I know that people like you always want to blame people for their circumstances but it's not always their fault. Statistics show that most people in this country are one paycheck away from losing their home. And the whole point that I was making that you either totally missed or totally ignored is the fact that our tax dollars are being spent to pay for housing, food, medical, etc for people who are here illegally, but when an actual citizen needs help it's crickets. That's the point.

@@cesargonzalez7251 here's the problem with that. It'll take more than 2 weeks cause business is business. What I mean by that is banks will foreclose on properties, and properties will get liens for failure to pay. Those properties then go up on auction. Companies like black rock and such will then swoop in to purchase said properties. They will pay taxes and such. The rent will start low, and as more people and more business begins to move back in, rent will increase.
That's literally how it'll always go. The only change you can make for the better is less government. Less programs means less taxation. Less taxation leads to a lower cost of living.
They want to keep the rich people rich. And the poor people poor. As long as people are willing to break their backs all for minimum pay BS jobs , while the bosses/owners sit back and get millions it will always be like this.
Poor is a choice and these people chose
