BTW I've been in IT for 22 years managing networks, and some users cause issues with their computers. They always fail prematurely around them, and they always have the weird issues. One was the Radiology Manager at a medical clinic, that was fun. She told me she can't even wear a watch because the battery will die within a week. So some people _do_ cause odd issues with electronics and electricity. An odd, unexplained phenomenon worth exploring.

I can relate Styx. I was part of what was called a Rural School program in the 70's in Oz. In 6 months I learned all math from grade 3 to grade 6 level, then I was told I couldn't be taught more for 4 years. Was obvious afterward that government education was a scam. Scraped through it being as annoying as possible, knowing not what else to do.

  • @Antreus
    @Antreus 7 років тому +7

I'm a selectively right-handed person. I use my left for most things requiring "dexterity", but then had to use a mouse, scissors, can openers, etc on the right - mechanical tasks. For example, have difficult finding which side of the mat to bat on in baseball. Also similarly, I couldn't figure out which hand to throw with in baseball, and could catch a ball better with my right hand. Played a lot of soccer and loved to dance to medieval music like the saltrello..
Had the same experience in school with behavior, but with exceptional grades. I read a lot of classics from 4th to 5th grade when peers later only discovered them in high school, same boredom in class- disruptive or tardy often. Everyone thought I was weird, entertaining, eccentric.
It was like going through the eye of a needle when I had to learn latitude and longitude in the 8th grade; I had learned it on my own and won a national contest online in 5th grade, but was doomed to repeat it. I was suspended several times for behavior or dress code violations.
I struggled with learning to ride a bike, but eventually did after continued efforts and many falls. Somehow convinced myself when I was 8 years old that walking my bike on the curb made it appear to others that I was riding my bike- was always comparing myself to people 2-8 years older than myself probably due to having a psychotic older sibling. It may be because I'm left-handed (better balance being the cat I am), because while physical tasks were hard, I had a desire to prove myself accomplished in them, including my penmanship.
Fekk. I also keep a garden and grow herbs while commenting on current events, hahaha xD It's so crazy, dear doppleganger, but isn't that a terrible superstition? I too wear coats inside (my 3rd grade teacher would always ask if my coat was still on - it was!), am sensitive to cold-enjoy scalding water, and my family Vermonter. If I didn't know better, then I'd say you took all my trappings, including my long hair, narrow face, and favorite spectacle shape..
I'm more of a demented child prodigy raised religious turned technologist turned botanist turned artist turned writer turned turned philosopher turned madman turned farmer, in that order.

I have selective dexterity, not quite ambidexterity. When I was younger, I purposely practiced some things (like writing) with both hands because a classmate had broken their dominant arm - which caused them great difficulty with doing their schoolwork - and I saw this approach as a fail-safe, however impractical it may have been. But I am predominantly right-handed and always use my left hand to lock and unlock doors, played hockey left handed, use my left hand to operate/navigate my phone, and tend to pick up objects with my left hand more often than not.

I can tell you how to ride a bike
The trick is to keep pedaling until you've gained enough speed to where the bike balances itself for the most part. When you slow down, or stop you have to put one foot on the ground, and keep the other on a pedal in an upwards position, when you start riding again kick the foot on the pedal down with all the weight you have so you have enough momentum to get the other foot back on the pedal (If you choose, you can also skate the bike forward with the foot you gave on the ground a few times to achieve more momentum), then repeat
*EDIT* Also when making sharp turns on a Bicycle, you should reduce speed just like a car, and ever so slightly lean into the turn, for beginners it might also be more helpful to glide your foot on the ground in the direction your turning, in case your bike starts to tip over
Also there is definitely use to knowing how to ride a bike, If there's ever a situation where the oil stops coming in (Runs out, War, etc) Bicycles will be the only way to get around in a timely manner.

  • @jasontscott-west6037

I didn't learn how to ride a bike until I was 10. It does take a lot of self confidence and the right state of mind. What really got me going was I was surrounded by my peers who were laughing at the fact that I didn't know how to ride a bike. So I asked my friend if I could see his bike for a second and I just jumped on and took off. That's how I learned how to ride a bike.

a true crazy thing about me. When I was in elementary school I was also not mentally stimulated. many of the things you talked about I did myself. I had 3 passions in those days that really predetermined my career/careers so to speak. I was super obsessed with science like you, the entire thing, did the look at my own blood thing as well. I would do math/physics problems and literally I won state wide competitions by 6th grade in those fields, I would just make up problems and determine all the factors and the controls and well all of it, which I think is in my blood in all honesty. the incredible interest in physics led me later to become an engineer which I am today. the second I became super obsessed with astronomy/astrology/space travel in general. I would study all about space and all about the "secret" meanings of the universe. that became not a huge deal in my life, but it did somewhat influence me to attempt to become a helicopter pilot in the army. the last thing is me and a few friends would take graph paper and draw up literal battlefield plans and strategies, and compare, and sometimes re-enact the strategy. This helped greatly later on in life because I did become US intel NCO for Army, and many of the things I did as a kid made me into the person I am today by which I what stimulated me during a time in my life where the menial classwork was just that menial and time consuming for no reason, for me at least. my wife says she had to use that time to study, I asked her why did you attempt to memorize the info instead of learn it, learning is different, learning takes interest and comprehension. honestly, this is why im homeschooling my daughter, she does enough things outside of the home so she wont be socially retarded, but she is super intelligent for her age and I will not treat her as my parents did me nor the teachers or schools. they only try to place everyone at the same exact intelligence, yet this severely degrades most people's intelligence or capability of that IQ to the Majority level which in the US is like 100... someone like me who is 139 its really difficult to keep my mind on focus for something that is completely menial as 100 level IQ. those who don't understand, IQ 139 makes me in the top 3% of the entire world, and 100 although better than many parts of the world is only 20 points higher than the top level IQ for mentally retarded, 80.

I was an honor student thruout school too. I'd finish my work real fast and get into trouble out of boredom. Get up to sharpen my pencil like 15×. Got suspended for an essay on current events the whole school had to participate in. Said the essay could be on anything, news, weather, sports, comics, etc. Lucky me that day Jeffery Dahmer made front page. I was told i was the only one in the whole school that wrote about that and got a D- for it. I said, "all the more reason i shoulda gotten an A!!! Front page news and I'm the only one who touched it!" They called in my mom and claimed i got the low grade because i glorified it which is nonsense. I went to an all black school in Detroit and the administration was black too and racist af. Shit like that is why good kids say fuck school and join a street gang or become a drug dealer with aspirations of becomming a real life Scarface.

      @Smuggers. 8 років тому +5

I figured as much on the personality type, I test evenly between INTJ and INTP but your logic and thinking tend to feel very in line with what I envision as the INTJ typing.
I also had significant issues in school with mental stimulation, though it sounds like less of an issue for me than it was for you. I wish my parents and teachers had understood that I was bored of the menial classwork that I had to do in elementary and middle school and maybe had I been involved in higher level courses I would have been challenged and gotten involved instead of coasting and spending 90% of my class time drawing and imagining what I would do when I got out of school.
It might not help because it's more physical practice than a mental series of steps, but it may help if you try balancing on one leg and then pedaling the bike forward to take off.
It's easier to focus your energy on moving the bike forward and gaining momentum than it is on trying to adjust yourself and the bike horizontally for some sort of ideal balance. Once you have momentum it becomes very easy to adjust slightly when you have issues but when you're taking off at first it can be difficult. If you find yourself trying to learn to ride a bike, I hope this helps.

2 weird things about me: one I tend to tune into information on radio or TV when it's pertinent to my life. I had tuned out for a minute on THIS video and tuned back in when you started talking about the electronics thing.
They call me 'Power button' in my home (and that's the second weird thing) it's because I have a weird effect on electronics. My sister-in-law does too. Street lights regularly turn off and on for her.
Have a great day Styx; fun learning more about you.

    1. I have no sense of direction other than up and down. Left and right I understand, but sometimes I have to think: "which is my Guitar strumming hand? I can read backwards, upside down, and backwards thru the page in English or Chinese, direction doesn't matter. I travel alot and I get lost alot. 2. I remember things that happened to me when I was 2 years old. Can't remember where I put my keys, but I remember cutting my finger with a potato peeler when I was 2. 3. I was blessed to have known all 4 of my grandparents and at various times I had extended one on one conversations with each. 4. I have a fear of drowning. I learned to SCUBA dive before I learned to swim. 5. I can't hula hoop or skip rope.

That just shows that you're a renegade, rebel, anti-establishment, go left when everyone else goes right kinda guy. That's what I like about you (and myself). I am also selectively left handed in certain things, but not bows or guitars. Specifically driving and lifting heavy objects. Even though I am right handed, my left hand/arm seems to be much stronger than my right. I chalk this up to me picking up heavy things with my left arm and manipulating them with my more dextrous (lol dexter) hand instead of the sinister. ;)

Cole Hunter It's not that they smell - it's that it's possible to have an allergic reaction to them even when not ingested.
I've had an allergy to eating honeydew melon and cantaloupe since childhood, which makes the roof of my mouth itch and my tongue and lips tingle. Even being in the same room while they're being cut up is unbearable - I have to leave. Cucumber belongs to the same plant family as melons (Cucumis), so my reaction to it is the same.

I am selectively right handed. I am left handed most of the time. I write, eat, cook, drive, and anything that is small movements or doesn't take strength to do. Anything that takes any strength, I am right handed. I play ball, shoot a bow, rake, dig, and use scissors right handed. Scissors mainly cuz there were no left handed scissors till I was older. My chiropractor told me that the collapsing vertebrae in my neck probably caused me to gradually and unconsciously switch to my right hand as my left shoulder became weaker. I have since had 3 vertebrae fused in over 20 or so years. In grade school I was always left handed. I don't even know when I switched. Until I had nerve problems with my neck, I thought I was left handed. I don't know when I started using my right hand. Have your vertebrae checked if it is a strength vs small motor skills thing.

Re: Not being able to learn to ride a bike.
People need the correct amount of stimulation to learn. You can have too much. You can have too little. When I was a kid I was constantly understimulated. Let me choose the topic and I could learn anything. Or the parts that were of interest. Once, I had to learn the catachism, which interested me not at all. But, they told me I would not graduate without learning these Q & A's by heart. I had nine months. But, I made no progress untill my stress rose to the necessary level and then, by magic, I could memorize. But plenty of times in the past I could not learn while massively stressed.
I was worried about learning to ride a bike. But , I accomplished it in a day because of what I saw as a manageable amount of stress. Stix struggled with bike riding because of something he believed about bike riding. It was not vital enough to him...or it was too over-whelming.
When I was young, I had trouble learning to run. I was too uncoordinated. My heels would come up and strike me in the butt. Then I began to play football and the danger of everyone trying to crash into me was enough stimulation. Suddenly I could feel my body and I knew I had to lower my posture, bend my knees, and suddenly I could run. I was never any good at baseball or basketball, because they did not stimulate me enough to learn. Football was something else.
I also developed what I came to call my Superman complex. If I was threatened by one to three people, the adrenaline would flow enough that I was clear headed, but not panicked. Once, when 21, I was attacked by three guys and because I did not panic, I succeeded in putting all on the ground. We were all surprised.
    Re:. The electro-magnetic issues
If I am wound up enough, weakened transformers on power poles will blow. I have had an implausible number of these blow in my presence. Lesser levels of stress will have old-style light bulbs blowing in my house. Mechanical things like a car radiator will developed temporary leaks. Weakened florescent fixtures can blow. I have spoken to phychics about this and it's a recognized thing. Stephen King was not inventing this from whole cloth when he wrote CARRIE.

The best bicyclist in the world probably couldn't just sit on a bike without it tipping over. The trick to keeping a bike upright is that you have to be moving. If the bike starts to tip one way or the other you just turn ever so slightly that same way and then the centrifugal force pushes you back up. This is why you must lean into the turns also.

  • @LucisFerre1

    1. I'm ambidextrous, but normally write with my left hand. I do some things right handed, others left handed and I'm about equally strong in both arms. I still find it bewildering that virtually everyone is significantly stronger in one arm, typically the right. I broke my left elbow when I was a kid, so I wrote right handed at that time. People found this brilliant, I merely found it necessary. To this day, I have the same handwriting with either hand. For this reason I suppose, I get confused as to which way is left/right and have to stop and think about it. My short-hand now is that "Left has my watch on it".
    2. I've always been smart. I started reading at a young age, and was reading science books and adult fiction at 7 or 8yrs old. I was reading In Cold Blood and The Boston Strangler at 8yrs old. People found this noteworthy. I didn't really care about their bewilderment. I took Mensa's test when in Vegas in the Air Force. I qualified and joined, but they had a $50 anual fee in order to remain "in good standing". I never paid it, but I didn't give a shit since their SIG's (special interest groups) largely didn't interest me, and by that time, the internet and yahoo groups was all the rage and a person could interact with people from all around the world, regarding any topic, for free.
    3. I've never been religious, even though I was dragged to different churches all my life and I live in "Jesus country" middle Tennessee. I decided I was an atheist about 10 or 12yrs old. I'm still an outlier in my family in this regard. It's something that others choose to not talk about because it the subject pisses them off or makes them uncomfortable.
    4. I didn't learn to ride a bike till I was 9 or 10. I eventually figured out that you turn the wheel slightly in the direction one is slightly leaning and the bike will run under you, uprighting you again.
    5. I too was bored in school, which is where I learned the completely useless skill of balancing my chair on it's back two legs while sitting in it. I could balance this way for 20-30 minutes at a time.
    6. I have an almost preternatural sense when it comes to knowing when someone's looking at me, and I sometimes "know things for no reason" as I put it and also seem to know where some "lost" things are at when there's no way I could know. A few times, I've known the names of complete strangers for no apparent reason. I've told 3 different girls/women in my lives that they're pregnant when they didn't already know themselves yet. And I've told 3 different women "you're a witch, aren't you" when they were hiding it. 2 on the internet and one in person. The one in person was afraid and really spooked (Jesus country, remember?), but I swore to her that I wouldn't rat her out. All this is rather odd when I think about it because I've always been non-religious and very atheistic and scientific minded. I just typically don't think about whatever conflict these two facets of my life presents.
    7. I'm a "night-owl" and function better at night. I can sleep day or night. My body does't care which. I've seen others tortured when they have to work nightshift because they can't sleep during the day. This is alien to me.
    8. I saw a ghost on a train in Bangkok a few years ago. I suppose she must have been a ghost because she was there one minute and gone the next. The train was empty otherwise, as it was past the curfew during the last military coup d'etat. I was alone one minute, and an old Asian lady was on the train with me the next, and then I was alone again. This is between stops of course. But the weird thing is, she looked like a solid normal person, not like smoke or a shadow or a partial apparition. I could have been hallucinating, but nothing else at all was out of the ordinary and I felt normal and perfectly lucid. I still can't explain it. To this day, this is the oddest thing that's ever happened to me, and that's in a strong field of weird things.

    1. I don't have the allergy issue, but I don't like cucumbers either
    2. I've had that same weird thing with street lights happened to me a number of times over my life although it was more the street lamps.... The sidewalk lights. Often enough that I found myself watching lights to see if it would happen without even realizing that I was watching for it subconsciously.
    3. Significantly lesser extent of behavioral problems than you describe, but I still had them. Same remarks. Good grades...the work was fucking mind-numbingly easy.. my issues didn't get as bad as you described though because they figured out what they didn't figure out with you and they simply gave me more difficult work to do to keep me busy.
    4. Bikes. If your feet are on the pedals the bike falls over if you're not moving. It doesn't even matter if the bike is leaning back and forth rapidly while you pedal, so long as the wheel is straight and your torso is upright and balanced above where the wheels are touching the ground. There's no crazy weird balance trick to learn for simple riding. Your physical emotions aren't exactly the same as if you're standing on a steep hill, you just don't have as many places to put your feet. You turn by leaning, not with the steering handle. The only purpose of the steering handle is to slightly adjust the pitch of the wheel when you're turning so the wheel rolls the right way, with the exception that you turn the bike by the handle when you're going so slow that honestly you're barely moving. YOU are actually what makes the bike turn, otherwise. 99% of your effort riding a bike is pedaling and holding the handlebars straight in front of you.
. My name is also Tarl.
