I would have loved to see that back in the day. What amazes me is that most of the drivers hated these locomotives because they were apparently so uncomfortable to travel in
I noticed the 38s came in with their pantos up and left with their pantos down.... So there might be a cable issue somewhere from Pretoria towards Germiston?
I was wondering if someone would notice.Nah,there were no cable issues, but the crossovers from Union to Germiston aren't electrified, meaning only diesel-powered trains can switch tracks there. So,the 38s would have had to lower their pantos eventually
They were work horses back in the day, but apparently, the drivers found them uncomfortable to drive in diesel mode. Wonder if that's changed with Rovos

Thanks marval. Good to see how these private operators looks after their rolling stock and locomotives
You're welcome, I agree they're well-maintained. I'm glad they've the 38s a second chance at life
Can’t believe these were fast container express freight from Cape Town before the introduction of the Class 14e.

I'm surprised PRASA didn't buy these
