The desert just gets me man. From getting lost on my property to find wood to build with to coming across a coffee table AND to top it off getting gifted those stunning wood + leather chairs which inspired this entire shade room. I was in the ER yesterday and couldn't comment but Rachel, I'm so proud of you for getting to where you are today. As a long-time watcher and subscriber, seeing you get so far and flourishing is incredible. You did yo thang, Miss. It's such a beautiful, serene "destination" on your own property. It looks dreamy when you show the views of the horizon framed by the "windows" without that ol' lattice. Yet, I imagine if you lie on the daybed - the room becomes a beautiful cocoon - And everything else disappears.

Well hello darling! By the way we love you too! I have been watching you for quite a while and it is truly making my heart so happy and glad for you. I've seen you do several homes and do it with really expensive decor and furniture and rugs and everything else, but it was always for somebody else's home. It is so amazing to finally be able to see you do this for nobody but yourself, your home and your life! I'm one of your older viewers, just turned 51 so I'm not that old... But I am so freaking happy and proud of you I have a daughter about your age who is out of country has been since she was 18 and she's now 33. So I don't get to see her life she's in the military has been her whole life. But to watch you do you and do what you do so well and know that it's all for you! And for your girls and for friends and for people who just plain love you, just brings tears to my eyes with joy and happiness! I'm also one of them that believes in you being yourself so please anytime you need to talk to us sit down and do so and let us know what's going on with you so we can be there for you. Not just the building designing whatever, this is an experience for you and it's an experience for your life, happiness, sanity and the love of yourself! So I'm down to hear anything you need to say and I'll still be here afterwards! Sorry this is so long I have to speak it... The room looks amazing absolutely amazing! I totally agree with taking that trellis down off the window areas. Wow, the bench! I didn’t see Rachel's visions...frankly I doubted her for a moment. WOW! That's what I call pure talent! And to be able to put everything together with recycled pieces is just brilliant!
I suffer from depression really bad, so when she says she's having a bad day ,I really feel for her. Cause then you don't necessarily feel like doing something even if it usually makes you feel good

I like how respectful you are to the original owners. I watch a lot of DIY stuff and sometimes people who renovate are very free with words like "disgusting" and it always bums me out. Like, there's a good chance that the original owner was proud of that particular paint color or design choice. I get kind of secondhand hurt feelings when the renovator denigrates someone else's work.
Love the shade room makeover. Rustic isn't my favorite aesthetic and I'm more of a forest than a desert person, but I want to hang out here. It feels serene, homey, and playful at the same time. Love the vanity in the bus and the bed frame you made in the last episode, as well. And the bench! :)

Omg this is gorgeous . Maybe you could do screen roller blinds that you can anchor down or roll up when you want . If you go a dark color , you can see through them better. I am loving this series . ❤️❤️❤️

Also, you are such a gem for keeping a majority of the structure/base/foundation on every project you dive into on your property . . . I know I had said in another video about things being "rundown", it really isn't, I used the wrong word and I apologize for that . . . Everything is aged and has so much character . . . I lived there for more than twenty years, it’s got charm but it’s hidden. You have to go looking for it, everyday a treasure hunt. From the sand verbena that blooms in the bare patches during spring, to the amazing sunrises. Breathtaking. What I love most is hearing your excitement and watching everything you’re doing. Rachel embracing who she is!! Be true to yourself first. Oh heck you could paint a rug too!

OMG. Another fantastic makeover. Love how the shade room turned out; it's awesome how the elements you created/used are perfect in this situation...the vibe makes sense. Too often, people use elements that totally make sense in their natural setting, and try to make them "trendy", and use them where it doesn't make sense (or they overload a room with too many of those elements). It's done with farmhouse, beachy, industrial, boho, and many culturally influenced styles. People end up with houses that look staged, like an Epcot display.
I am loving this direction this home/land makeover is going.
