- Muskaan is 22 years old and got admitted to Harvard under the 1-year program in Masters in Psychology after which she started a fundraiser on Ketto promoted by Humans of Bombay across their social pages. The girl needed a total of Rs 73 lakhs out of which, 15 lakhs were loaned by Harvard itself after which, she started 2 fundraisers one each on Milaap and Ketto for INR 25 lakh and INR 23.5 lakh respectively. She has been receiving a lot of backlash for asking for money in form of donations and many more discrepancies in her application. Let's dig and check whether it's actually a genuine case of a possible scam. Let's go!

I personally have went through the admission process of Harvard.
If you opt for a financial aid while applying, there is an extensive documentation that is required to prove your family income, so as the Harvard authorities can provide you with any financial aid needed for you to attend the college.
And it's clearly stated in their brochure that applying for a financial aid doesn't affects your admission decision in any way.
So something is definitely fishy with this girl here. Even if we take all the points that were mentioned in this video, she must've declared her mother's income and assets in the financial aid document.
So it's pretty obvious that she didn't get the financial aid because Harvard decided, based on the income and assets, that she can afford that tution fees.
Basically if you are getting admission at Harvard, they make sure you can afford it.
There have been number of students from India who get full ride for their study period at Harvard and MIT based on their declaration in financial aid application.
This is very important statement 👏
Yeah 🙃
And based on their merit even, harvard or any ivy league colleges have their own scholarships for meritorious students across the world though its very competitive but still proves who is worth it and which she is not! Also, to get an admission or to book a seat is easy as they just a small amount however to get a visa you have to show the amount anyway which she definitely showed else how she got the visa, air tickets confirmed, this is very very alarming situation now the way people using fundraising platforms and other social media platforms, pathetic
Last week, one boy got admission who's father was a rishaw driver. And here we have such people who are financially well off and raising funds.
@deNc Ipek then she has every right to tell her story and try to get the money she needs. I mean you just mentioned an exceptional case of ayush kumar and trying to make me understand through that, means definitely there are people who believes and will contribute to her aid who can relate to her situation or may be even visa department also understood isn't it?

Edit: the sob story that she is using is much more infuriating cause I have adhd, social anxiety and clinical depression and one of the subjects that I am interested in is psychology but I’m working hard to get there and she just wants sympathy of people. I have more family members in Germany and abroad than my own country and my father used to live there as well. And my country is more or less corrupt so in order to get a job here people have to give bribes so instead of giving money as bribe I would like to use them for better education and all. There are more reasons but my comment would be too long so hope you understand. What I meant by my last sentence is that I am trying to study abroad and will do if I can do it with my own or my family’s money but would never want to go abroad if I have to beg to others for money that too almost 50 lakhs. I would never want a luxury of studying abroad to be from others hard earned money. Fundraisers have been taking people for a ride ever since they came on social media. Anyone can start a fundraiser for just about anything. We need to understand the difference between our needs and our wants. Why would we donate to a person who wants to leave the country and study outside? What is the guarantee that she wouldn’t take up a high paying job in the US itself once she is done with her course? Companies like Ketto very well know how to make money by selling emotions. Sad but true. I would urge viewers to condemn and raise their voices whenever they see unnecessary fund raisers like these. Utter nonsense.
Thank you for raising this point. There is a difference between asking donation for need and asking donation for luxury!! Have faced this issue with my relatives having financial problems asking for help to support their luxuries like going on a trip or studying at a private university charging a huge fees. This manipulation happens even outside such sites and it’s important to understand where one needs to donate
The problem is that if there is someone seriously in need....then people will not come forward to help others

Please note : am not judging here someone whose rich or poor but their should be a sign of genuineness & urge for education.

As you said, this is a luxury!!
India is the birth land of yoga and meditation something which other countries use for counseling!! We should focus on the need.
I am also studying master in psychology and let me tell you one thing clearly. If you choose to study in different country you need to practice there only. The main reason is that the whole structure of these courses are based on the country mental health condition. For example black racism is its peek in USA but doesn't mean this skin color issue is not part of other countries but the weightage of this issue is different in each country actually. Now since psychology is the education of human mind but its also a different in every country. India has a very different culture while Japan would be having a totally different mental issues. So the end results are she is going to settle there or the education she received are totally useless actually.

I know out of India(in Us/Uk/germany) eduacation is way better than here but students after graduation in India just think master's in foreign as a luxury and not an opportunity.
Like look at avanti nagral she studied from harvard and now she is a youtuber/singer🤣🤣🤣

Great perspective and great issue to talk about! 👏
I hate it when people use so called "depression" and being bullied to manipulate others feelings and make it the whole crux of their personality. Everyone get depressed, everyone gets bullied at some point, it's just rite of passage in life. If she wants to know what real depression is, spend a day with relatives of patients who are terminally ill, or spend a day in a household where the family has to work 18 hours a day just for a daily meal. You can visit an orphanage and find children without any family, still being hopeful and happy together. Can't believe the audacity of such people, depression, my ass.
I remember I saw this reel on Instagram. people in the comments were smart and hilarious ngl... I'm 21 and I too have high hopes to study at the University of Arizona but I cannot just make a sad helpless reel and tell people to make donations .but the thing is as far as I know banks do provide loans (full financial loans) to universities like Harvard .. this just doesn't fit in.. and the fact that people actually donated is so dumb. this need to be in light thankyou so much for this
Thanks for making a video on this topic
I saw her video too few days back and felt sympathetic towards her but after seeing your I realised how they use our emotions and seriously I stopped watching these reality shows too where every next second you'll emotional and guilty like what we are doing with our lives and same thing is happening in social media .... There some genuine stories too but because of such people they are been neglected 🙌 we as community have to make sure before donating if the case is geniune or not do they really need our help 🙌❣️❣️❣️
Thats why someone said emotional intelligence is more important than IQ. Golemann wrote a book on it which makes you understand the significance of self examining the emotional biases within us.
Kudos to you sir!
Thanks sir for the information of some important things
Glad that I found this channel😇
That means I need to qualify any exam like IELTS and get a admission letter from any good clg and ur good to go for fund raise 😂
Maine 25 lakh loan le rakha for my current course in Canada... 2 part time jobs krta huin... Work my ass off... But kahin paise nahi maanga kissi platform pe
Sir apka content bhut alag aur accha hota hai matlab bheer se hatke 😀❤️ appreciate your dedication ❤️🙏🏻 keep growing 💓 you have our full support
Thanks for putting this video 😁 yahi khayalaat mere dimag mein aaye the pehli baar jab video dekha 🤣🤣🤣
Totally agree with you.. your each and every point is valid.. humare parents ne itni mehnat krke.. kitne sare sacrifices krke humari education krayi hai..nobody should give money to this greedy girl..
Reality check- She did got around 14lakhs rs in Keto & more via Humans of Bombay, Strange right. 🤯
Also HOB said that they will refund the money if any Donor wants to retract that.
Dear donors I have my maid who is a poor, single mother, working hard , her daughter is very inteligent , she is in 11th std & wants to go to IIT & I wanted to help her maa, plz donate to them.
But you know what they will never take that, I even asked her (daughter) but she dont want money , she just asked me some 2nd hand books & my notes. This is what a genuine hardworking person looks like, not people who r begging with Harvard admission letter & who do not want to take loans & do small jobs.
There are multiple people, kids, poor in our country who r dying coz of dreadly diseases. people please wake up n donate to their need not to such fancy desires of people.
Honestly I think most of the teenagers & adults face depression atleast once in a life & lots of inteligent middle class students are there who dont even fill out such fancy admission forms coz they even cant afford that, but they r not begging like this.
So stop donating to such scammers👎
So to reiterate, we should Spend or as we say Donate with a concious ? Brands/participants !! Thanks 😊 ❤ 👌✌️
bro................. i seriously bless you for your work and BUSTING THESE KIND OF SCAMS IN A TODAYS WORLD
Strange... How HOB showed her story. I used to follow HOB but m very disappointed this time.

Milap took mandatory tip on donation amount... It's not hands of donar to refuse the tip..... That's the source of income for them
Great video, correctly explained.
Informative video sir..🙏
BS, I went to state school and took an SBI loan, walked 3 miles for a 6$ an hour job for 4 hours and then took a bus to class. Stayed with 5 others in a two bedroom apt. PLS don't give a rupee for this, you want education you figure out how to pay and repay it. Not crowdfund

Being an army brat I had to go through a lot. I have changed around 3-4 schools by now and shifting to a new city, town was never accessible. Yes, indeed making friends was a bit hard but never impossible and now it has become a habit and I am more adaptable to my environment . Maybe it differs from person to person but I believe if an individual realize and accept things as they are and focus on what they can achieve right now or later and take the best opportunity out of where they are then things could be really different.
(I just felt like ranting )
Same hare bro, by now I have moved to more then 7 city's and 6 states and still continuing..... My father's next posting is in 8 months and I'll move to new city& State in 1 year, and honestly saying, I just love it,
I just watched this reel an hour ago and was totally confused how this was allowed and that too on ketto

The sense of worth that comes from your own struggle is way above than these chandas . I m preparing for cat saving money from last 2 years with a job going to fund my complete mba by myself with the help of edu loan and my own savings without asking for a penny from my own parents wish me luck😊

I'm also trying for Harvard ( in general Ivy League ), the thing is that these universities provide financial aid also there are a lot scholarships offered to students on national and international level other than that u can take Student Loan or do part time job to support ur expenses !
Mostly agreed. However getting a on campus part time job isn't always guaranteed. It's like almost 95 percent ppl get it. So probability is very high. Just not guaranteed
@@tusharpatil1707 yes I know but Harvard allows its students to do part time job off campus so one can easily get job
@@rakeshparmar9646 let me correct you. U cannot work off campus unless and until it is under CPT and approved by the university for the same and is specifically related to ur area of study. Any unapproved off campus work is strictly illegal and will result in deportation if caught.

Even I belong to a lower middle class family I was unable to crack neet 3 times. I was depressed a lot and I think many students suffer this in case of any competitive exam but I kept working hard and cracked the exam in 4rth attempt. Even I can have a fundraiser for MBBS from private colleges where the fees is approx. 1cr. Everybody goes through a depressing phase in his/her life. That's where our mental strength is tested and moreover the girl in the video has a govt. gob doing mother. In my opinion if she could clear India's competitive exam and study psychology in India's prestigious college then also she can Persue her dream. It's not that only Harvard can Persie her dream. I think she has a inferior feeling about India.
A great video and an eye opener for others. If this is legitimate then I should raise a fund to buy house in Mumbai. 🙂🙂🙂

Need vs Greed
We can raise enough resources for someone needs but not greeds…
If we entertain greeds then those who are in need will pay.
Agree with your arguments, even the platform should be responsible for these kind irregularities. Where people do not have the money for health care these kind people misuses the system for his personal benefits.
I've literally gone through the same thing with my father being transferred and sometimes taking a new job, resulting in us moving to different states multiple times, further resulting in me not having friends and being depressed and socially anxious with covid making it all come back. Now that i'm better than before, I think it's time I create a fund raiser. 😂

Bohot mehenat karni padti hai. Lekin ye to mujhe bhi doglapan lag raha hai. Doesn’t look need based.
I didn't expect this from a page like Humans of Bombay.
Basically there was no need of raising of these funds or donation because her mother has a good government job and she can get a good amount of education loan from many places .So what is the point of raising donation ??
When u apply for visa u need to show the funds that include ur remaining fees + living expenses for entire year n the main thing is that she already got their visa n travelling on this 20 of july .so my question is that from where she got that money to show funds in bank for their visa if she already hv that much money in bank thn she still raising funds from various platforms.
