2:10 I just teared up a little. America is considered more inclusive and welcoming than Japan is, but not once has someone told me that being mixed is something to be proud of. Never in my life. Nobody has a soul that pure to say this to someone, especially a young man. That really shook me up.
I mean why would you need to be told that in America? Sorry if I’m being insensitive but the person told him that in Japan because he thought otherwise due to being ‘estranged’ for his color. Being mixed in America is damn near celebrated so people aren’t necessarily going to feel the need to validate that for you even more

Woah... This clip definitely gives a SLAM DUNK vibe... the basketball gymnasium... the seasoned middle school basketball coach is kinda like coach Anzai... the basketball enthusiast and sports shop owner is kinda like the female version of the one in anime... and of course Rui Hachimura is like the real life and more versatile version of Akagi Takenori... amazingly surreal!
@@TroutTruck do you not watch the NBA? There are plenty of players that can’t ball. There are some that are great at just one thing, then there are solid all around BALLERS. He’s in that category.
yo thank you, NBA for making this video!! Now I'm more proud of him and Japan! Also, I appreciate that two NBA teams came over to Japan and played the game, which amazed Japanese NBA fans!!!

His coach really pointed out that being mixed is sumn you should be proud of and he’s a real g for that. Sticking out like a sore thumb in Japan for being “different” can be quite daunting. Love you Rui 🩷🇯🇵

Great video about who seems like a humble and most definitely talented basketball player. I hope Rui keeps thriving and can one day be a superstar in the league. Also hoping that he keeps being the humble and peace-loving person that he is, as shown in the video, and not get tangled into any weird situations or change his character because of living in America.

Compared to Harrison Barnes and Kawhi Leonard coming into the league, I really hope Rui to really break out. He's got the whole nation of Japan on his back. He got the tools to be a great player, maybe an All-Star level at least once.
This is so crazy. I am so happy the NBA dove into Hachimura’s backstory. I would love to see more.
