Great video! Thanks for including the charging logistics and the minor anxieties at Circle K at 15:55. Not being an EV owner (yet), these are the types of things that are good to know pre-purchase. Keep up the good work and thanks again!
I always look at the charging time in these tests, and 19 minutes slower than the Mach E and 17 minutes slower than the Model Y isn’t that bad. In real life, you’d probably want to stop at least once in each direction anyway. Chances are you won’t even notice, unless you’re really in a hurry. And I really think the XC40 makes up for it in other areas. 🔥 If you’re not after a particularly big car, but still a real SUV. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait for your next videos. Those wheels on the e-tron GT look humongous though.. 😬
I think you need to repeat this test. The new software 1.7 for XC 40 supposedly gets more range, US EPA went up from 208 to 223 miles, and faster charging.
Kris, 👍 great content .. It is always fun to watch Norway roads and scenery thank you!.... For me the first leg of your trip from 100% to 1% tells me allot about the car .. 👍 BTW in your new test format can you please think of adding True Real world time .. the actual time it takes without any correction or stopping the timer etc.. yes rank remain base on corrected time for whatever the reason traffic, stop lights etc.. and yes we all know when you do a test with traffic it will be slower, but to be honest because you are doing a real world test base of that day/time road condition it’s good to know what it would have really been, just an idea..
Great video, wow the XC40 is so slow but if i would get an EV today i would still pick the XC40 above all other SUV ones and even Polestar 2 ;-D 50 min extra on a vacation trip means nothing to me as i'm not the stressed out type of guy :)
Shure about the tires? 19” on the MY21 came with Continental EcoContact 6 normally and the the 20” with Pirelli P-Zero. MY22 always comes with Pirelli Scorpion SF2 All-season.
Hi Kris. Love your thoroughness in your videos. Must say that your videos convinced us, that it had to be the Volvo. I have one question though. You living in Norway, have the Google Automotive learned Norwegian yet? We are still waiting for Danish and as long it won't talk Danish, it is nothing special.
@@xm4kl because the XC40 is one of the few cars that run android automotive, and I'm curious to know what that implies. I suspect this is the reason the sunroofs button is sensitive, for example; so that it can also be triggered from other sources than the button itself.
@@felixsanhueza No. The Google Assistant controls climate and infotainment and links in with internet enabled home devices but all other car systems are walled off. So I can tell it to lock the back door at my house, but I can’t tell it to lower the windows on my car. If you have kids old enough to speak you’ll definitely appreciate this. 😉
When you navigate it to the circle k did you put it into your Google maps as an EV charge location or just as a gas station? Reading the Manual, it seems to state that the car will not properly precondition the battery for charging unless you put the waypoint as an EV charging station into Google maps. So I'm curious how you put it in which may be addresses how slow it was charging at the second stop not including all the people.?
I’ve had the P8 for 6 months now, and it’s undoubtedly an amazing car. Did 3000km across Norway this summer and enjoyed every meter. If you’re all about metrics and isolating performance like these tests, there’s probably better EVs out there, but the drive is far better than several of the cars we tried. Average consumption is fairly low, although it is thirsty in 100+km/t, haven’t had to deal with range anxiety ever as there’s always several opportunities within the range the car has to get juiced, and charges by the time I get a snack and stretch my legs, so in a real life situation it’s more than good enough for my use. Cannot speak for the Mustang, I dislike the interior so much that I stopped considering it once I saw the inside.
@@runeversveen9598 True but only if you put it into the GPS as a charge point. Otherwise it doesn't preheat it from what I read in the manual. You actually have to select a waypoint that is a charge point and the car has to know that it's driving to a EV charge point and then it starts to preheat it. At least that's what's in the manual.

Superb video !! Can't wait to watch those tests with your E-Tron GT !!
Greetings Kris :)
Nice Vid again Kris.. Thanks for re-doing the XC40..

.28 drag coefficient for the Volvo hence a contributing factor with consumption, btw well done again Kris
Only 3 free at Ionity.. That is same amount of all working Ionity chargers in Finland!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s funny because it’s true 😂
If you continue like this, I will need a "range ninja" polo aswell as the 0% soc hoodie. We need some classy alternatives for business trips

Good to show navigation how good/bad it calculates distance 👍
Hello Kris can you please publish your test results in google doc sheet like Bjørn? That will be so helpfull.
I like That when you talk English, you pronounce Norwegian name in Norwegian accent. When Bjørn say Bergen ,it sound like Børgen 😀

It looks like high price on Ionity chargers keeps the units usage not so busy vs other .

How does the XC40 feel on the motorway? Is it a smooth ride?
How many miles

Did you check the new 300kw charcher at bamble? Those ones split the charge so you maybe could have got full speed
Considering leasing this...
Very nice video. I am going to buy the XC 40 or Mustang. What would you buy Kris?

Are you going to test the P6 also?
Remember you can use the windshield washer to clean the whole car for free 😉
Nice video
Is this the '22 model?

Does the Volvo preheat the battery
With the newest software, it does.
