@@playmsbkgood thing they don't let you buff most unique weapons actually, slapping scholar's or frozen armament in the darkmoon greatsword could be considered a war crime In my humble opinion every unique weapon that doens't have elemental damage or a self buff should be able to receive weapon buffs And you can buff infused weapons actually, just as long as they are keen, heavy or quality
@@bagredecartola1289 yeah but then you are just slapping elemental damage into a weapon with physical damage which will make it so it'll have go through multiple defenses which is not good. whereas in dark souls 2 you could have had a weapon infused elementally and then slap a buff that has the same element (sunlight blade for lightning or dark weapon for dark) and it'll make like the most broken builds in the universe used to be so fun.
Still kinda dissapointed that no Ashes of War were made for the catalysts. Steady Chant and Unfaltering Prayer made casting so much more interesting than just flat number bonuses.
Youwy, u forgot to mention Staff of the Great Beyond at all, which functions as both a seal and a catalist. Even if u didn't want to rank it among seals, i think it deserves an honorable mention.
Obviously the gravel stone seal should've scaled with DEX like the beastclaw one did for STR; but the biggest issue I have with bows and catalysts is honestly still how restrictive we are on infusing since Dark Souls 3. Dark Souls 2's freedom to double down on scalings was pretty fun; and I definitely enjoy it more than powerstancing two catalysts for a flat damage bonus.
It's a percentage based bonus actually And i mean yeah the ability of doubling down on scalings on ds2 was pretty funny to mess around up until the dlc came in and broke your caster's kneecaps
Well, the issue is, Dex also increases casting speed. It'd be kinda hard to provide a balanced Dex/Faith scaling and not turn Dex/Faith builds into hyper-speed casting machines with high damage as well.
I personally consider the the Golden Order Seal to be the best full playthrough seal due to being easy to upgrade and being boosted by both the +10 int and faith crystal tears which lets you hit the first softcap at 30/30 very early. Also one note for all hybrid seals, they scale best between 20 and 30 so optimally you want to get your stats to 30 and then raise the best one to 43 which is the hardcap on current patch.
The fact that there aren't any faith arcane weapons is such a missed opportunity. Imagine getting a greatsword called "Bayle's Talon" that was his broken wing, and it has fire scaling with faith and lighting scaling with arcane as its damage types. Its ash of war could be similar to aspect of the crucible wings, but instead you get flame pillars similar to knights lightning spear that surround you and increase the number if charged. Would've been a DREAM weapon.
i wish the fire knight seal looked like messmerflame in your hand, i just dont like how almost every seal has a white to yellow glow. i almost exclusively use the dragon communion seal because it looks so cool. i like the way seals look more than staffs so itd be nice if we had more colors of seals
I really wish the scaling of the Clawmark seal didn't softcap at a measly 43 Strength and Faith. That's just knee-capping it from having any real use if you invest more into it, since you are gonna get way more damage by just running the Erdtree Seal and offhanding a Cinquedea, letting you use Quickstep while casting.
My first playthrough was faith/arcane and that's when I discovered that Dragon Communion Seal just is incredible, it looks great, weighs 0, is the best easily for Blue Dancer - I love light rolling - not to mention nice for build variety and so it's been my go to ever since. Though I have to say one of the funniest, and most cumbersome builds possible, is to pair it with an Albinauric staff (either oh swap or a caster build like that) and a status/element weapon swap. An UI nightmare beyond the usual spell swapping that still somehow works on paper, I don't think you can have more functioning variety in the same build.
Im so happy the clawmark seal exists, just pumped the faith on my 80 strength build to 40 and threw on the blessed blue dew talisman so now i can cast buffs for free and hit like a truck with pest spears and stones. Theres never been a better game for strength/faith
As a Int + Fai main, Golden Order Seal is my favorite seal, because it also boosts my favorite Incantations. I usually switch between it and Prince of Death Staff to use Death Sorceries, and play with Light + Death.
Thank you, that’s pretty interesting. I’ve seen plenty of Elden Ring playthroughs using Sacred Seals, but I haven’t played the game myself yet. I’m thinking about trying the Boosteroid cloud service since I noticed it’s the only one that has this game. What do you think, is it worth trying?
according to youtube youwy was my most watched youtube channel and i watch 40x more than the average viewer i just listen to all the yap sessions how could i not
I have a high level character that's using a dex/int build with some faith investment for the utility incantations and the incant scaling on the Frenzied Flame seal is higher than my Golden Order or Erdtree seals. (60 dex, 80 int, 40 faith)
Crazy how the serpent hunter gets a b in strength scaling with no requirement and no smithing investment but the highest the frenzy seal gets is a b at max level
I think you misunderstood how the frenzied flame seal is supposed to be scaled with. Yes the scaling aint that great when you level ONLY ONE stat(faith preferably) but its a seal for ALL stats(except arcane) so a build with : 65 faith 50 int 50 strength 50 dex Is actually a pretty good seal(second best in the game) But the dragon communion seal is just better than all those other seals imo
So, bad at math - is it better to dual-wield two of the same catalyst for damaging spells, or just use the boosting seal offhand and a higher scaling seal to cast with?
You said ng+ you can use two gravelstone seals. Instand of one and another seal with better scalings. But if the incant scaling from the other seal is more than 15% higher than gravel seal isnt it better to keep the difrent seals?
Dmg incantations scaling with faith just pisses me off, even with 99 in inteligence and faith and using the seal that buffs golden order incantations, its still weaker than using erdtree seal
How do you get so much damage with incantations? Like i have 80 intelligence and 80 faith with the Golden Order seal, I've use howl of Shabriri, golden vow, and yet I'm still getting 791 damage in the dlc with MAXED scadutree fragments Edit: I'm using Unendurable Frenzy against Midra, who has 40% fire resistant, but that shouldn't matter because of my buffs and lvl
Hate how most of the seals that give a special boost to a class of spells suffer from their spell scaling as a result. Poor balancing honestly. Golden order and dragon communion seal are the exception (and godslayer to an extent) but those you need to upgrade two stats which can be a bit of a problem in ng.
It took me a while to get used to the idea that the damage of spells rely on the seal and not the faith/int stat. It’s still annoying that you have to dump stats into faith to match the requirement if you’re going to use a seal/build that doesn’t focus on faith. For example I really want to use an arcane build with the flower gavel and lightning spells. But even if I’m using the dragon communion seal the lightning spells will use my arcane stat but I still need to dump some faith to meet the requirement for the lightning spells. At least the knight lightning spear doesn’t require too much faith requirement.

@Goku-zu3rk you could spin it and say that smithing weapons can slot on lots more builds cause they'll be infusible. But most of the time it's more of a hassle
Because they're an absolute hassle to get. A somber weapon needs you to pick up just 1 of each and you're good. Regular smithing stone weapons require 12 of each (plus the ancient) so that's 97 individual smithing stones you need to pick up to get a weapon maxed. It just takes so much longer by comparison.
@darthplagueis13 at that point when you unlock the last somber bell bearing, you already have all normal bearings too. Idk where the problem is. Rushing weapons to the max for maximum damage by instantly upgrading once you have a stone is a questionable way to play. In the end it doesn't make a difference.
Being able to infuse your catalyst in ds2 was fire
The way ds2 handled weapon buff spells was the best in the series imo. The fact you can't buff infused or special weapons is just counterintuitive.
