The way Sue Barker was treated by the Beeb was appalling. They also managed to both destroy A Question of Sport and lessen Wimbledon at the same time by getting rid of her. A "lose-lose" situation.
Sue Barker was a good Wimbledon presenter because tennis was her subject, she genuinely knows the in's & out's of the game which unlike Claire Balding, she was qualified for the role. Sue, the tennis, sport, connoisseur, is very much missed.

I met Sue after her ohe woman show and she was delightful. I told her she'd been shafted and she burst out laughing and didn't disagree. She said the Beeb refused to discuss their plans for QoS and ultimately told the trio they wouldn't be renewing their contracts. What a dreadful way to treat anyone, let alone a national treasure.
Paddy ruined Top Gear and Question of Sport, he's a prat.. He'd needs to stay where he was before, pointless dating games. I refuse to watch anything he's presenting.

Sue Barker one of the very best tennis commentators in the country. There's not many that has her quality commentary abilities.

Loved watching question of Sport. tried to watch it with the new team, but really not the same. I am slowly watching less and less BBC. Sports coverage , call the Midwife and Strictly and thats my limit tbh.I dont go to BBc for the news thats for sure

Yep - almost as bad as GB News' sacking of Calvin Robinson for no reason whatsoever.
Wimbledon would be better hosted by Tim Henman, with his tennis connections and convivial interviewing and presenting style. But, oh no, he's male, isn't he, so that seems an unlikely scenario for the current BBC.
Not only is he male, he doesn't tick any other woke boxes.
Can't have a straight, white, middle-aged man who knows his subject inside out and conveys his knowledge very well on TV.
Unfortunately he has the personality of a block of wood.
When I was a child in the 1970s there were a lot of middle-aged presenters such as Michael Barratt and Raymond Baxter, not to mention commentators such as John Arlott who were incredibly centring in society and made the world around us seem grounded and secure, even in those turbulent times. The middle-aged and elderly do that. Our parents and grandparents give us solidarity and so do good media communicators. The BBC has lost that.

I'm well into my 70's - Watched QOS from the START! - Loved It - When Sue Barker came along it got even BETTER and remained a 'Must-Watch' whenever it was ON! .... Could NOT! believe it when she and the lads were SACKED!! So Unceremoniously - NEVER watched an episode SINCE - Especially as they handed it to Paddy McGuinness who's like James - Pass Me the Sick-Bag - Corden .... To make it WORSE!! ... BBC have now given McGuinness a Prime Sunday Slot to make Sundays 'un-listenable now! ... BBCTV & BBCradio have taken over the job as 'National Depressant!' what with ALL of the Diversity and Wokeism BURNING through EVERYTHING we're offered these days ..... Never watched A Question of Sport after Sue Matt and Phil left. Wimbledon is not the same either. How many years do we have to tolerate third rate progammes and repeats? Fortunately I don't have to pay at my age. Those who do have a case to put to our National channel.

Ageism is endemic throughout the UK, for a whole host of reasons. As one other example take a look at just how few older, highly experienced, teachers remain in schools. It's illegal, but unlike racism the government and courts deliberately turn a blind eye to this crime which is happening on such a large scale it's impossible to miss.

Ageism aside, it is common knowldege sporting stars often fail to accept or recognise when their career is over, finished. The same human failing applies to television presenters who are humungously overpaid - six if not seven figure salaries - in relation to their dubious talent. These self-obsessed people often need to be pushed , because they are never going to retire gracefully.
The general public has no idea how disproportionately wealthy these people often are. There is no need to feel sorry for them!

In her one woman show she said that she enjoyed dating Cliff but he broke it off. His reasons were that his lifestyle as a huge star wouldn't be compatible with a long term relationship and it wouldn't be fair on her. He got 'one of his people' to tell her, which is disappointing.
Barker had a bloody good innings and was well paid. It's not wrong of the Beeb to want to freshen up the analysis show with a new presenter. There's plenty of younger talent out there that deserves a chance. Nothing worse than someone that has been well treated, paid handsomely, moaning when their time has passed. I'd get rid of Balding too. And McEnroe and all the old timers from the 1970s/80s. And I say that as a 1970s old timer myself!

i was never a fan of sue barker personally and she like most of the other sacked people went along with the woke rubbish they've been pushing for the last 30 years or so, unfortunately it doesn't cut any ice with the fanatics who now control that dreadful channel, her treatment was obviously terrible but what else can we expect now? question of sport was great in its heyday but had gone woke long before barker's axing, incidentally the best wimbledon presenter was the late, great harry carpenter

rubbish - QoS was watched by millions and the audience fell away and it was axed at the end of the first show.
