Hey man, I've never seen any of your other videos, but just sitting hear listening to you reminisce about times long gone by gave me a sense of calm that I don't get to experience too often anymore. I know I'm just a dude on the internet, but thanks for this.
Thanks for watching and sharing! The idea of this channel is to give people (and me) a chill place to go to feel nostalgia. Over the last like 10-15 years, pokemon has given me that sense of calmness and acceptance that time moves on and that things wont go back to how they will be. I wanted to try and share these intense feelings I have and create something others can relate to or understand. It might sound like im over analyzing it, but its true. We might just be dudes on the internet and we all got our own lives going on but we can come together for a few hours each month and share a common interest/feeling about something special.
I was 9 when I got my LeafGreen. Can't remember the exact date, but I know I got my copy around the launch. Seeing R/B with a new coat of paint was awesome. I had a couple of friends who also had their own version, so trading and battling was more fun than the previous games with more people to play with. I've accepted that modern Pokemon isn't really for me anymore, but I'll also be excited to sit down and play some classic Pokemon, like especially the GBA games.
I wish I could comment this privately but I just want to tell you thank you so much for this video. My grandparents both passed away this year and I have been diving deep into pokemon for nostalgic therapy and your memories are very symmetrical with mine especially the Christmas story and dad wanting you to charge up the batteries all the way. It really hits hard. Growing up really sucks but it's nice to know we're not alone. Thank you for sharing your memories. ❤
Sorry to hear about your grandparents. It will eventually happen to all of us so we gota make the best of each day. I am glad you shared your comment publicly. I think a lot of people can relate and have similar feelings as you so you are def not alone. I bet a lot of people with similar feelings are in this comments section. Growing up does suck at times but its inevitable. Just have to appreciate the past and also live in the moment because one day we will probably miss these times too! dont forget the Dr Seuss quote! "Dont cry because its over, smile because it happened."
waiitt.... i SWEAR when i looked this up like a few months ago it said the 7th. And now when i look it up it says the 9th??? I am so confused. I tripled checked to before I rendered and uploaded the video. Thanks for letting me know tho!
I recollected these games about a year ago. Didn't have any of my original games. Just a few days ago I completed my starter hunts in both of them, shiny squirtle for LG and Charmander for FR. Felt surreal getting them in the nick of time before the anniversary, and also within a day and half of each other. Anyway, your videos are a vibe and I chill to them while hunting.
it is absolutely crazy to me that it's been 20 years already. I remember myself being at home with a friend and us playing fr&lg for the first time, using the wireless connector to do a battle. it's so clear in my head. I put so many hours into these games, leveling my whole team to level 100 and trying to finish the pokedex as much as possible. man was I bummed out when I found out I couldn't ever finish it, even with all the trading I've been doing with my friends. but I can't think of a single game that has kept me entertained for such a long time.
Been on the same FR save for atleast 16 of the 18 years ive had it. 354 hours, shiny hunting the ghastly i had as a kid somehow as its the only shiny ive ever had other than the red gyarados in gen 2, getting my blastoise to level 100, and completing the pokedex one day. In it for the long haul and ive enjoyed every minute of it 🤟🏻
Heck yeah man, another good video! Can’t believe it’s been 20 years… Just got done doing my re-playthru and got the 3 shinys I was after (charizard, mewtwo, and dragonite). Not sure what I want to do next, maybe try for a shiny giratina in platinum or diamond 🤔. Anyways…. Keep up the content!
Daaaamn how long did it take you??? I'm too chicken to try yet hahaha but I alwyas wanted to go for shiny Charizard, Dragonite and Rayquaza. (Although that last one is from my Emerald cartridge hehe)
@@robertwolfgan I actually have 4 shiny Rayquazas, a shiny Groudon, Kyogre, Mewtwo, Charizard, and now Dragonite. The gen 1 Pokemon were caught soft-resetting and the gen 3s I did runaways. All together probably took around 2 years. Oh, and get this my groudon had Pokerus when I caught it. Should’ve bought a lottery ticket that day. I had honestly forgotten about the virus since it had been so long since I’d even seen it. Had to actually look it up when I got notified by the nurse in the P.C 😅
the funniest memory i have of FrLg was when i got Leaf green as a kid i thought the wireless trade cable was venusaur themed but when i got fire red later i wondered why the wireless trade cable didn't look like charizard lol
My sister pretty much owned EVERY single Handheld Mainline game since the first gen (Red, Blue, Yellow) back in the 1990s....She still buys Pokemon games, but she's completed each game ever since, including Colosseum. But for me, Hey You, Pikachu, Pokemon Stadium 1+2, and my favorite, Pokemon Channel, will always be my favorites of all time. 2003 was a special year for gaming for me, so many Nintendo first party games coming out, it was the best time for a 6th gen player, and I've yet to see video games hit that same peak/same feeling/same quality that games from the early 2000s once did. For me, video game movies of my own would have been time capsules for me as a way to show what I used to act compared to what I was in the mid 2010s, and now in the mid 2020s. I'm getting to the point where I will be just as old as the launch of the PS1 and Saturn in America, Panzer Dragoon, Toy Story, and of course, Pokemon, two months later after I was born in December 1995. Next year will be pretty close to Pokemon's 30th anniversary....It's wild to think that time when our parents were growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, and many of us growing up in the 1990s and 2000s, and I don't know how many would feel if the internet, or youtube wouldn't exist....And considering February 2005 will be UA-cam's 20th anniversary....Gosh, it feels like a long time ago when I first entered public elementary school in 3rd grade, but at that point in 2004/2005, I quietly left Pokemon in favor of other franchises like SAW, Hostel Parts 1 and 2, Black Water, and many other horror movies, and eventually in 2007/2008, going on Retrojunk to discover franchises from the 1980s long before nostalgia for it came in the 2010s and 2020s. I'm glad that my siblings and I still own the original consoles to this very day. We don't use them that much as we used to, but we still have them, including the games. But again, wait until the franchise turns 50 years old (much like the 1980s franchises will be in the next decade), and we'll be wondering where the heck time went by. I do hope someday that the same pokemon we have in our games, could also live with us in real life. In a way that doesn't hurt us or damage the houses, properties, etc. but rather, be friends with us and interact/be friends with those you went on adventures with, but now brought to real life....Without using the internet or updating your application, just to have them be with you as company when you're all alone and such (I could only dream about it, but as a child, I knew in 2004/2005, that's what I truly wanted, but it never occurred....Oh well). Happy 20 years FireRed and Leafgreen, here's to 30 years+ of fun gameplay and memories of older pokemon games, as well as the 20th anniversary of Pikmin 2 and Pokemon Colosseum.
My favorite memory involving Pokémon happened on my 10th birthday. I remember really wanting a Pokémon game as a kid back in the day but during that time we didn’t have a whole lot of money. My older brother ended up getting his very first job when he was 16 and little did I know he had been saving up money from every paycheck for my birthday and he ended up getting me a red Gameboy Advance SP alongside Pokémon Fire Red from GameStop (this was in 2009 so about 5 years after these games first released and Platinum was the newest Pokémon game at the time) but little me didn’t care about that and it was the best birthday I ever had as a kid. I remember being so happy about finally getting my very first Pokémon game and I stayed up all night playing it. I wish I still had that stuff today but unfortunately that GameBoy and my games were stolen from me and I never got them back but I did eventually replace my old GameBoy Advance SP with another red one and still have that one to this day
Such great memories. I got the pokemon center charizard gba sp and fire red which started off my pokemon obsession. I still have my original game and it’s save file. As well as the gba sp. Only thing different is I changed the screen to an ags 101
Gold was my first, then I went back to Blue. I know exactly what you mean about the not realising we could find out information on the Internet back then lol. I did acquire an official guide for Gold at some point.
You're awesome for that hahaha yeah I remember back in the day we would go for the kid at school that got his mom to buy him a Club Nintendo magazine and hope for some cool info to drop from our games, specially Pokémon. And computers were just for homework hahaha nobody and I mean NOBODY back when I was a kid used internet for anything, everything we knew or found out was always from other kids that heard it from another kid, and I still remember that cool feeling of some higher level of trust when this info came from "an older brother" or someone like that, we would all just gasp and say "OHHH THEN ITS GOTTA BE TRUE!" hahaha...aahh...good times.
@@robertwolfgan Oh yeah you really had to trust others if you wanted something like Scizor! How sketchy does it sound? Trade me your rare and cool Scyther holding a rare item and it will evolve and I'll trade it back lol.

its honestly just a cheap hard case you can get on amazon. Its nothing special but it LOOKs special. Ha! I can do a video or something on it. I sized the foam myself which isnt difficult but it easy to mess up
