    Nice to see the new videos bud! Had my snowchecked 18' Assault now for over a month and I am extremely impressed with it. It has the 2" track and gripper skis. I am really blown away by what this thing is capable of. The engine seems a bit more snappy than my 16' SKS and this thing is a blast to ride.

      drew3406 that's awesome to hear! I heard the 18 engines had been reworked by polaris so it very well might be!! The grippers seem to be a popular choice good call on those 👍hope you keep loving the sled. I know i love mine

    juss a heads up .i live in northbay ontario canada,3 hours north of Toronto ,studs are the only way to go up here as these trails get icy with all the swamps and lakes we have ,no need for 2 inch paddles you'll be vibrating your sled apart,,figure of speech of course. we have a good base and all our trails are hard packed mostly so you need studs anyways to help keep your machine cool.

      Joe Neault good to know. I'd like to do a little on trail riding in your neck of the woods as well as find a place to ride off trail in Canada down the road too. Here in new york any off trail riding is illegal without land owners permission

    Another great video as always. Hopefully Old Forge gets hit with more snow, I was going to head up to Tug hill where most of the snow is but weekend plans made me stay home, hopefully I'll see you up there sometime this season.

    if there is oil in the gas thats your first problem....Ctec2s do NOT require oil in the fuel during break in....Second pushing the throttle is only going to make it worse because its efi it will cause faults in the computer.

    • @Revrider550
      @Revrider550  6 років тому +1

      gangsterboat69 I'm not sure it smoked like crazy since pick up so i assumed like other new sleds I've owned there was oil in the gas. Ive read its optional with the ctec 2 to premix the first tank so maybe the dealer wasnt aware it didnt need it. I didn't expect giving gas to help start it I was just trying to give it some gas when it did turn over to try to coax it into staying running. Not ideal I know but nothing else would start it and I did stop doing it after a while. Maybe it was just bad gas I'm not sure. But as you can see once we filled it it ran after a few more pulls and started fine from that point on.

    • @gangsterboat69
      @gangsterboat69 6 років тому +3

      im guessing oil was put in and likely to much caused a issue...the computer knows its in break in and meters the oil to aid in that. Rode with lots of 6000s when they were new and none of our dealers put oil in them. Likely fouled the plugs momentarily

    • @Revrider550
      @Revrider550  6 років тому +1

      gangsterboat69 yeah it sucks I feel like i let my cat fans down but I accept at least partial responsibility for it. I should've filled it and probably asked the dealer if they premixed but ya like to think you can trust the dealer whether that's the case or not

      Chalk it up to a great learning experience. At least it broke down in front of the pump. And when you dont have to suffer the ride of shame (Tow Rope) it's a good day.

    Great video. When I got my 2005 Arctic cat F7 Firecat the dealer had it mixed with gas and oil for a full tank ratio but had a half tank of gas in it so I was told to fill it all the way for first ride and ride it to at least a quarter tank before adding more gas or I would dilute the oil gas ratio. Then when I got my 2010 Arctic Cat F8 it came from a different dealer with half a tank of gas and oil mixed in and the guy told me the oil ratio was for half a tank and not to add any gas to just drive it from half a tank to a quarter tank. Interesting. Then this year I got a 2018 Polaris 800 XCR Switchback and up until this year on the Polaris 800 the first tank of gas is mixed with oil but for 2018 the 800 Polaris engine now has the computer decide how rich to run and is set to run richer during break in period. Which is nice because originally my dealer was gonna give me the sled with half a tank of gas with oil mixed in which is annoying because on the first ride if you’re going to go for a long ways you might want a full tank of gas and it would be unknown if I would be diluting the oil ratio or not. He even called up to Polaris to confirm not to mix gas and oil in the tank this year on the 800 motor and Polaris told my dealer do not because now for 2018 the sled automatically knows to run richer during break in period. On any sled arctic cat or Polaris during break in it will always be more thirsty on gas and oil and you’re not supposed to do more than half throttle the first 30 miles as that is true with any belt for proper break-in of the belt. I’m assuming your sled probably just ran out of gas at the right place at the right time at the right gas station. I would also recommend only using premium 91 or 93 and of course only arctic cat oil. Also every arctic cat I has always comes with crappy carbides and even the Polaris does with only 4 inch ones. I always switch every carbide I have to 6 inch triple point bergstrom skeg carbides and they make the sled steer awesome so you don’t end up in the trees. He has a website I think bergstrom skegs.com and they are made for your specific sled for the different brands.

    • @Revrider550
      @Revrider550  6 років тому +1

      Snowlover yeah it's definitely a mixed bag with premixed oil or not. It's odd because the sled was showing 1-2 bars of fuel depending on parked vs hitting bumps but I think with it being old gas possibly premixed the computer just didn't know what to do with it. Unfortunately some dealers are very detailed upon delivery and others leave things out. I got a good run down of the sled itself but very little talk of break in. At the end of the day it's a lesson learned and like you said it worked out that it happened where it did

    • @Trad-Am
      @Trad-Am 6 років тому +1

      Your most important thing on break in. Is to not run at a steady rpm for any ling 2 period of time. You need to vary the rpm during break in.

  • @gyice
    @gyice 6 років тому

    Make sure you give some feedback to the dealer that's a little redic. that they can't figure out a better break in Ratio for Cat (or just buy a Skidoo in the first place). As much as I'm not a Cat person I really would like to see them do well with their two new C2 engines, their 4 strokes are Yammies so their Bullet proof, they have a chance to finally turn a corner and become the quality vehicle provider they once were but little things like this will easily Dog them perception wise.

I'll have to look into that track I feel like it's my best course of action for when I do plan to ride off trail. The 1.3 just didn't get it done the couple times I got into any sort of deeper snow. I haven't noticed darting being too bad but it is slightly more tippy in the corners from the added bite. Although I think that's just me riding lazy because with the stockers the sled pushed so much I never had to lean into corners.

      Blastcal I'm not sure old forge allows that. They might but in general a lot of people from new jersey ride in old forge and they still have to purchase trail passes from what I'm aware of. I could be wrong I'd just make sure as the fine is $300 per sled. If that is the case good for you guys that's a solid savings!

    Adjust your GoPro UP buddy. Viewing 10' of ground in front of your Ski isnt exactly fun to watch. What are YOU seeing??? Cause WE cant see it. Thx

      If you take a look at any of my other videos you'll see this was a one off situation. Sadly every day of filming cannot be perfect but thanks for the feedback! I know looking at the ground sucks and I try not to let it happen. Loose mounts suck.

    If ya can't start your own sled, ya don't need the RR. Guy should be on a Z370. And what does hitting the throttle on an week except cause more problems? Learn ur sleds.

    • @Revrider550
      @Revrider550  6 років тому

      Jason Jaeger shoot man can I hire you to start it?

    • @jasonjaeger4042
      @jasonjaeger4042 6 років тому

      Revrider550 Yeah but I charge $5 an hour. Was actually in the middle of typing "Read this dude's other comments and he made a few good points and knows what he did wrong. And I meant the other guy doesn't need the race replica if he can't start it, but it not being his sled from my understanding, who knows.

    • @Revrider550
      @Revrider550  6 років тому

      Jason Jaeger it's fine man. It was just a joke. Ive heard it a lot at thos point so i only have so many responses. My dad doesn't know much about sleds and once it wouldn't start I just tried anything to get it to start. I know it's DSI so the throttle doesn't help but I was hoping if i gave it throttle it would keep running. Not ideal I know but I didn't have many other options

    • @Revrider550
      @Revrider550  6 років тому

      Scott Romero theres really no way of knowing how the trails are until you're out there. People were saying it was great others said it was rough. We rode like a total of 30 miles.

      Lawrence MacDonald the cat is perfect for what I bought it for. A backup sled that's something different from my assault. I can appreciate what you're saying but paying double to get another polaris or a doo was not my goal.

      I know guys that accumulate over 40 different sleds from all brands new and old. Everything has problems. Last weekend in St Germain 3 guys were bitching about their skidoos that are all within 4 years old. Beautiful to look at, umpteen problems they've been having and they all take great care of their sleds. Nothing is bulletproof. Maintenance is almost everything but shit happens.
