Nice to see the new videos bud! Had my snowchecked 18' Assault now for over a month and I am extremely impressed with it. It has the 2" track and gripper skis. I am really blown away by what this thing is capable of. The engine seems a bit more snappy than my 16' SKS and this thing is a blast to ride.
drew3406 that's awesome to hear! I heard the 18 engines had been reworked by polaris so it very well might be!! The grippers seem to be a popular choice good call on those 👍hope you keep loving the sled. I know i love mine
juss a heads up .i live in northbay ontario canada,3 hours north of Toronto ,studs are the only way to go up here as these trails get icy with all the swamps and lakes we have ,no need for 2 inch paddles you'll be vibrating your sled apart,,figure of speech of course. we have a good base and all our trails are hard packed mostly so you need studs anyways to help keep your machine cool.
Joe Neault good to know. I'd like to do a little on trail riding in your neck of the woods as well as find a place to ride off trail in Canada down the road too. Here in new york any off trail riding is illegal without land owners permission
Another great video as always. Hopefully Old Forge gets hit with more snow, I was going to head up to Tug hill where most of the snow is but weekend plans made me stay home, hopefully I'll see you up there sometime this season.
Rekted M8 agreed it could use some more for sure but it looks to be getting it as we speak 👍. The hill looked awesome wish we had gone there instead but oh well. Look forward to meeting you ride safe!
if there is oil in the gas thats your first problem....Ctec2s do NOT require oil in the fuel during break in....Second pushing the throttle is only going to make it worse because its efi it will cause faults in the computer.
gangsterboat69 I'm not sure it smoked like crazy since pick up so i assumed like other new sleds I've owned there was oil in the gas. Ive read its optional with the ctec 2 to premix the first tank so maybe the dealer wasnt aware it didnt need it. I didn't expect giving gas to help start it I was just trying to give it some gas when it did turn over to try to coax it into staying running. Not ideal I know but nothing else would start it and I did stop doing it after a while. Maybe it was just bad gas I'm not sure. But as you can see once we filled it it ran after a few more pulls and started fine from that point on.
im guessing oil was put in and likely to much caused a issue...the computer knows its in break in and meters the oil to aid in that. Rode with lots of 6000s when they were new and none of our dealers put oil in them. Likely fouled the plugs momentarily
gangsterboat69 yeah it sucks I feel like i let my cat fans down but I accept at least partial responsibility for it. I should've filled it and probably asked the dealer if they premixed but ya like to think you can trust the dealer whether that's the case or not
Chalk it up to a great learning experience. At least it broke down in front of the pump. And when you dont have to suffer the ride of shame (Tow Rope) it's a good day.
Streeters Garage that's for sure. It was very dumb of me not to fill it but you get excited about the first ride and cut corners. Next thing you know they come back to bite you.
Colby Gorman Thanks! Yeah the new sled kept me very busy with getting ready for this season so unfortunately I couldn't post the last couple weeks but ill be way more regular from here on out!
Colby Gorman that means a lot thank you. I put a lot of time into my videos taking 3 hours of riding footage breaking it down adding music etc etc takes time but it's awesome to hear it doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks for the motivational words I'll keep them coming for sure!!
We'll meet up sometime. We left just as you were getting there I guess. I may be going up midweek after Christmas. Probably five guys. Should be a great ride if they get the snow. The temps will be great. Great vid. I wish I could vlog while riding but can't with the Ski-Doo Modular.
Revrider550 totally! I'm riding a renegade rn but seeing you got that beautiful long track I'd suggest doing some research about Cochrane Ontario. Best on, off trail in Ontario
Great video. When I got my 2005 Arctic cat F7 Firecat the dealer had it mixed with gas and oil for a full tank ratio but had a half tank of gas in it so I was told to fill it all the way for first ride and ride it to at least a quarter tank before adding more gas or I would dilute the oil gas ratio. Then when I got my 2010 Arctic Cat F8 it came from a different dealer with half a tank of gas and oil mixed in and the guy told me the oil ratio was for half a tank and not to add any gas to just drive it from half a tank to a quarter tank. Interesting. Then this year I got a 2018 Polaris 800 XCR Switchback and up until this year on the Polaris 800 the first tank of gas is mixed with oil but for 2018 the 800 Polaris engine now has the computer decide how rich to run and is set to run richer during break in period. Which is nice because originally my dealer was gonna give me the sled with half a tank of gas with oil mixed in which is annoying because on the first ride if you’re going to go for a long ways you might want a full tank of gas and it would be unknown if I would be diluting the oil ratio or not. He even called up to Polaris to confirm not to mix gas and oil in the tank this year on the 800 motor and Polaris told my dealer do not because now for 2018 the sled automatically knows to run richer during break in period. On any sled arctic cat or Polaris during break in it will always be more thirsty on gas and oil and you’re not supposed to do more than half throttle the first 30 miles as that is true with any belt for proper break-in of the belt. I’m assuming your sled probably just ran out of gas at the right place at the right time at the right gas station. I would also recommend only using premium 91 or 93 and of course only arctic cat oil. Also every arctic cat I has always comes with crappy carbides and even the Polaris does with only 4 inch ones. I always switch every carbide I have to 6 inch triple point bergstrom skeg carbides and they make the sled steer awesome so you don’t end up in the trees. He has a website I think bergstrom skegs.com and they are made for your specific sled for the different brands.
Snowlover yeah it's definitely a mixed bag with premixed oil or not. It's odd because the sled was showing 1-2 bars of fuel depending on parked vs hitting bumps but I think with it being old gas possibly premixed the computer just didn't know what to do with it. Unfortunately some dealers are very detailed upon delivery and others leave things out. I got a good run down of the sled itself but very little talk of break in. At the end of the day it's a lesson learned and like you said it worked out that it happened where it did
Make sure you give some feedback to the dealer that's a little redic. that they can't figure out a better break in Ratio for Cat (or just buy a Skidoo in the first place). As much as I'm not a Cat person I really would like to see them do well with their two new C2 engines, their 4 strokes are Yammies so their Bullet proof, they have a chance to finally turn a corner and become the quality vehicle provider they once were but little things like this will easily Dog them perception wise.
You should take yourself a trip here out west. I promise once you get to ride in mountain backcountry. You'll be planning vacations out west every year. There's lots of guys from east coast and Midwest. That trailer to here in Wa. BC. And Idaho. I see em every year.
Yeah it wasn't the best conditions. Think we rode a total of 30 miles. It's hard to tell how it will be until we're up there. Some people say it's amazing others say it's awful its definitely a mixed bag
I keep my tabs and plate and paper reg. In my jacket pocket in a Ziploc. Unless a ranger gives me a hard time and makes me put em on. I finally had to put em on my 14 pro rmk last Year no tickets though.
Hey I got up there a lot in the winters, I live in Fishkill NY and Im going to Dons this October to get a 800 Polaris Rush Pro s, it would be cool to ride with you man... I normally just ride with my parents which isnt all fun all the time... we have a cabin on Old Indian Trail...
Joseph Minet nice congrats on the new sled! We will be up there for sure if you want to message me and try to set something up as far as riding together shoot me a message on Facebook it's just revrider550 and it's the best way to get a hold of me!
Hey man love the channel! I think it would be cool if you tried mounting your GoPro from your visor. The camera would be upside down but you can fix that in the settings. Sometimes I feel like the camera points at the ground too much. Keep up the good work.
Alexander J. Marino yeah my mount was not good for this one. I had my summer mount with me but I have a separate one for my snowmobile helmet that will be much better than this. I was defintely bummed when insane how my footage came out but tried to make the beat of it
My Fly Carbon Jacket has a cell phone pocket inside the left breast of jacket. Even has a port to feed your headphone cord out. 2.00" challenger is a good powder performing track on the 144. I have had a couple of them. That is the track that is on my wifes RMK 600 144.
gobigparts nice the jacket is always a good spot to keep i just worry ill forget its in there and leave it with my sleds or something and have to go back for it. I'll have to look into that track I feel like it's my best course of action for when I do plan to ride off trail. The 1.3 just didn't get it done the couple times I got into any sort of deeper snow. Just liked to spin a lot.
Seem Legit love them. They're aggressive but that's what I want. I want my sled to go exactly where I tell it to no pushing. I haven't noticed darting being too bad but it is slightly more tippy in the corners from the added bite. Although I think that's just me riding lazy because with the stockers the sled pushed so much I never had to lean into corners.
gobigparts yeah a lot of people have said good things about the grippers I was able to work a pretty good deal on these though and I've really wanted to try c&a's for a while. I've gone different routes in the past and always regretted it afterwards so it felt like it was just about time to try them
I think it was just low on gas. It was a leftover so not sure how long the gas it had was in there. We added fuel and it never did it again. Sorry I wasnt more help
Chuck Beef we actually got 2 and a half feet over the last two days so next ride should be awesome! Dang I can't blame you there. I'm sure I'd be doing the same in that situation
xxstrokerxx I find the 600 has a lot of power down low but kind of falls flat around 70 mph. Great for running trails but of you hit the lakes 800s will leave it in the dust. Corner to corner though it does very well. Clutching seems spot on for that type of riding
Ryan Hartigan I have a sony AS100V action cam. It had a much much better image stabilization than the go pro. I have a go pro as well but rarely use it
Had the 1.3 on this sled. I studded it for some added traction and was super happy with it on trail. I have the 1.6 now and its really the perfect middle of the road track. Highly recommend it
its not the brand of sledd they all give you grief doo has recalls polaris has too even yamaha quits sometimes i have had all 4 brands and they seem the same to me i buy what ever is on sale ??
Matt Crosby yeah unfortunately you do need a trail pass but that's how the town pays for their 24 hour grooming so if you do go most of the time the trails will be great. They do usually do a free weekend. Last year it took place during Feb 3rd-Feb 5th. I can't seem to find any info on when it will take place this year however.
Blastcal I'm not sure old forge allows that. They might but in general a lot of people from new jersey ride in old forge and they still have to purchase trail passes from what I'm aware of. I could be wrong I'd just make sure as the fine is $300 per sled. If that is the case good for you guys that's a solid savings!
Dylan Wilson will do! It'll be for sale this fall. Find me on Facebook or Instagram and message me that your interested. It's the best way to get a hold of me. Both are revrider550
If you take a look at any of my other videos you'll see this was a one off situation. Sadly every day of filming cannot be perfect but thanks for the feedback! I know looking at the ground sucks and I try not to let it happen. Loose mounts suck.
If ya can't start your own sled, ya don't need the RR. Guy should be on a Z370. And what does hitting the throttle on an week except cause more problems? Learn ur sleds.
Revrider550 Yeah but I charge $5 an hour. Was actually in the middle of typing "Read this dude's other comments and he made a few good points and knows what he did wrong. And I meant the other guy doesn't need the race replica if he can't start it, but it not being his sled from my understanding, who knows.
Jason Jaeger it's fine man. It was just a joke. Ive heard it a lot at thos point so i only have so many responses. My dad doesn't know much about sleds and once it wouldn't start I just tried anything to get it to start. I know it's DSI so the throttle doesn't help but I was hoping if i gave it throttle it would keep running. Not ideal I know but I didn't have many other options
Revrider550 Damn, didn't know it was your dad man, I apologize for that. I feel like shit now. Have a good new year and my resolution is gonna be to turn the volume up while watching videos.
Scott Romero theres really no way of knowing how the trails are until you're out there. People were saying it was great others said it was rough. We rode like a total of 30 miles.
Sledders R Us thanks! Yeah I was so bummed when I saw the footage. Tried to point my head up as best I could while riding but there was only so much I could do. Yeah you got!
Lawrence MacDonald the cat is perfect for what I bought it for. A backup sled that's something different from my assault. I can appreciate what you're saying but paying double to get another polaris or a doo was not my goal.
I know guys that accumulate over 40 different sleds from all brands new and old. Everything has problems. Last weekend in St Germain 3 guys were bitching about their skidoos that are all within 4 years old. Beautiful to look at, umpteen problems they've been having and they all take great care of their sleds. Nothing is bulletproof. Maintenance is almost everything but shit happens.
Nice to see the new videos bud! Had my snowchecked 18' Assault now for over a month and I am extremely impressed with it. It has the 2" track and gripper skis. I am really blown away by what this thing is capable of. The engine seems a bit more snappy than my 16' SKS and this thing is a blast to ride.

the hill was amazingly flat yesterday from camden up to Copenhagen
Great video! We will be there on Thursday. They got 5" of new snow today.
as soon as I saw the covered bridge I knew it was Old Forge but couldn't remember the name of the pizza place. good video.
Congrats on the new machine. Nice looking sled.
Probably just over heating, not enough snow to keep it cool
Omg😍 have search for channel like this for too long and finally find it😍
Hysteric that's awesome glad you found it! Where did you hear about it?
Revrider550 it was in my rekomendation
Hysteric well awesome I'm glad you were able to track it down again!

Glad to see you're posting and out riding again!
Colby Gorman Thanks! Yeah the new sled kept me very busy with getting ready for this season so unfortunately I couldn't post the last couple weeks but ill be way more regular from here on out!
Nice! You're probably the only snowmovlogger that has decent editing skills, so your videos are very entertaining. Keep them coming!
Colby Gorman that means a lot thank you. I put a lot of time into my videos taking 3 hours of riding footage breaking it down adding music etc etc takes time but it's awesome to hear it doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks for the motivational words I'll keep them coming for sure!!
Awesome! Glad I could help!!
When the snow is good there is no better place to trail ride. That dealership is cool too. Its a neat place to stop.
Dale Plant I agree it's a town that completely caters to snowmobiling, pretty awesome environment when conditions are good
Cant ride the trails yet in quebec! Either way, Im always out of the trails with my rmk assault ! Haha . Happy sleding and great vid!
bilabong149 thanks! The rmk assaults awesome! Enjoy your season!!
As soon as I saw the bridge I knew it was old forge. I ride up there all the time. I have a camp right on 4th lake
knk171 haha you know it, lucky you! That's definitely a huge goal of mine consider me jealous.
We'll meet up sometime. We left just as you were getting there I guess. I may be going up midweek after Christmas. Probably five guys. Should be a great ride if they get the snow. The temps will be great. Great vid. I wish I could vlog while riding but can't with the Ski-Doo Modular.
We'd love to see you up here eh! You should come up north for sure this year
Matthew Eliot i'd definitely love to! I just have to do some research and see what's involved in the borded crossing.
Revrider550 totally! I'm riding a renegade rn but seeing you got that beautiful long track I'd suggest doing some research about Cochrane Ontario. Best on, off trail in Ontario
Videos are awesome man love them, going up this Tue and leaving Monday. Hopefully will see you up there.
Gavin Roberti thanks man! Nice weather forecast is looking better and better. Should be some good riding!!
Great video. Your most important thing on break in. Is to not run at a steady rpm for any ling 2 period of time. You need to vary the rpm during break in.
Make sure you give some feedback to the dealer that's a little redic. that they can't figure out a better break in Ratio for Cat (or just buy a Skidoo in the first place). New subsriber by the way from last year
50-1 ratio of catnip in the first tank for break in will really wake it up.
Damn you guys are basically rollin on snowy rocks
Yeah it wasn't the best conditions. Think we rode a total of 30 miles. It's hard to tell how it will be until we're up there. Some people say it's amazing others say it's awful its definitely a mixed bag
Get rid of EFI and get carbs, with an EFI ,you can't plug it into a tree to get it going. carbs you can use duck tape... nice video.
These new sleds don't cut it for me, they gotta pre 1972 for the fun factor.
I keep my tabs and plate and paper reg. In my jacket pocket in a Ziploc. Unless a ranger gives me a hard time and makes me put em on. I finally had to put em on my 14 pro rmk last Year no tickets though.
Another thing is always take the belt off before pushing a sled around!
I just missed you in Old Forge. I was up riding from 12/18 to 12/20.
snowrunner212 nice! You probably got some decent trails. As you can see by this time they were pretty chewed up
It was ok but quite a few rocks. I'm heading back up next after New Years. Conditions look great now!
That's why I get electric start could have a hart attack trying to pull start but I'm not a young man ,LOL
On a typical day how long does it take to ride form the town of old forge to Turin?
Hey man love the channel! I think it would be cool if you tried mounting your GoPro from your visor. The camera would be upside down but you can fix that in the settings. Sometimes I feel like the camera points at the ground too much. Keep up the good work.
Alexander J. Marino yeah my mount was not good for this one. I had my summer mount with me but I have a separate one for my snowmobile helmet that will be much better than this. I was defintely bummed when insane how my footage came out but tried to make the beat of it
We all run sopro mounts That attach to your chin bar.
maybe it doesn't like being used on roads a cadillac could be driving down.
breathe and squeeze dang! I thought RR stood for road ready.....
Yeah not my kind of riding...u could glide down those trails on a 1975 jag..
Might as well drive around in a car, bush whacking and cutting your own trails through the woods is how I grew up on those old one lungers.
Dam this is sick up in old forge I love it up their I have a cabin in the Koa
Ryan Smith nice chances are I've probably seen you around. Much approved choice is sled 👍👍
Thank you, maybe we will have to ride some time
I like the snowmobile dream snowmobile
My Fly Carbon Jacket has a cell phone pocket inside the left breast of jacket. Even has a port to feed your headphone cord out. 2.00" challenger is a good powder performing track on the 144. I have had a couple of them. That is the track that is on my wifes RMK 600 144.
gobigparts nice the jacket is always a good spot to keep i just worry ill forget its in there and leave it with my sleds or something and have to go back for it. Just liked to spin a lot.
There’s like no snow 😂😂
Like the C&A skis? Got a set coming in to put on my 18 xrs gade.
On that sled I would have choose Mohawks or Grippers for sure.
gobigparts Went with C&A XPT with 9” shapers... she shouldn’t have a problem turning now. Find out soon.
I was talking about the assault. Those should work well on the gade.
gobigparts yeah a lot of people have said good things about the grippers I was able to work a pretty good deal on these though and I've really wanted to try c&a's for a while. I've gone different routes in the past and always regretted it afterwards so it felt like it was just about time to try them
OMG! Having EXACT SAME ISSUE with my 16' ZR6000! What did you do to fix? I'm pulling my hair out here!
I think it was just low on gas. It was a leftover so not sure how long the gas it had was in there. We added fuel and it never did it again. Sorry I wasnt more help
Revrider550 mine seems to do it regardless of fuel level or age. Do you use any fuel additive? If so, what?
Where were u riding?
when you try and start it just give it gas
As soon as I read the comments I knew it was old forge
Dude I live right in Turin I'm 30 min away from oldforg
You need to pray to the snow gods. We have the snow but its -33c today so i am not going riding lol.
Chuck Beef we actually got 2 and a half feet over the last two days so next ride should be awesome! Dang I can't blame you there. I'm sure I'd be doing the same in that situation
How does the 600 compare to the 800 just picked up a 600 and wondering if it will be enough
xxstrokerxx I find the 600 has a lot of power down low but kind of falls flat around 70 mph. Great for running trails but of you hit the lakes 800s will leave it in the dust. Corner to corner though it does very well. Clutching seems spot on for that type of riding
Why do you use 91 gasoline. We here in Finland use 98 on sleds.
jarkko puhakka the highest grade here in new york is 93 and most places only carry up to 91 so unfortunately that's the maximum availible to us.
OK. Have you heard about Lynks snowmobiles. Those are made here in Finland by BRP. Go to check them out, those are pretty cool.
Where are you snowmobiling in New York? I couldn't quite read the registration sticker.
Sean Higgins we ride in old forge new york 90% if the time and that's where this is. Occasionally ride tug hill and South of Syracuse new york
Revrider550 - Nice. Thanks for the response!
True enough
what go pro mount do you use for your snowmobile helmet?
Ryan Hartigan I have a sony AS100V action cam. It had a much much better image stabilization than the go pro. I have a go pro as well but rarely use it
Sorry did see you said mount. I just use the stick on helmet mounts. I use a flat one.
Damn cats always trouble lol just kidding.
What track do you have? 2"lug or 1.35"
Had the 1.3 on this sled. I studded it for some added traction and was super happy with it on trail. I have the 1.6 now and its really the perfect middle of the road track. Highly recommend it
its not the brand of sledd they all give you grief doo has recalls polaris has too even yamaha quits sometimes i have had all 4 brands and they seem the same to me i buy what ever is on sale ??
sheddski I could not agree more. They all have plusses and minuses . At the end of the day all that matters is your out there riding!
Always wanted to ride the trails up there, I heard that you needed a special permit to ride there, is that true? I mainly ride on the Helena trails!
I appreciate the information, maybe I'll see you up there sometime this winter, also great video...keep up the good work!
I live in Pa.And registered my sled in Ny state so I don’t have to pay for the permits
I’m going to tug hill this Weekend . I’ll take my chances
Shitty conditions there. Nothing offends your ears more than that sound of skegs on gravel! Like fingernails on a chalkboard.
2 cycle engines what a pain
Brian tel haha they can be a struggle at times for sure.
Hey if you are going to snow check a new 850 let me know if you wanna sell that 800 assault i wanna buy it!! i live in upstate NY as well!
Dylan Wilson will do! It'll be for sale this fall. Find me on Facebook or Instagram and message me that your interested. It's the best way to get a hold of me. Both are revrider550
Pushing a brand new Cat pretty typical.
Not the Cat's fault. Gotta check the gas tank before you take a ride!
Ran it dry...i fill up at every stop.
I also have a artic cat zr 4000 rr
Adjust your GoPro UP buddy. Viewing 10' of ground in front of your Ski isnt exactly fun to watch. What are YOU seeing??? Cause WE cant see it. Thx
If you take a look at any of my other videos you'll see this was a one off situation. Sadly every day of filming cannot be perfect but thanks for the feedback! I know looking at the ground sucks and I try not to let it happen. Loose mounts suck.
song?
Kartyman550 dj quads- wonderful world
they dont call them shitty kitties for no reason......
Ditch pickle
Is that in Minnesota?
Henry Rides no this is old forge new york actually
If ya can't start your own sled, ya don't need the RR. Guy should be on a Z370. And what does hitting the throttle on an week except cause more problems? Learn ur sleds.
Jason Jaeger shoot man can I hire you to start it?
Jason Jaeger no worries man, same to you and no hard feelings. Many others have said much much worse haha the perks of UA-cam.
I Dont see what’s fun with this...
⛽️😡👍
Why would you ride trails that look like that.nothing like destroying your skis, carbides and slides
Scott Romero theres really no way of knowing how the trails are until you're out there. People were saying it was great others said it was rough. We rode like a total of 30 miles.
Please tilt your camera up more.
Sledders R Us will do. I had the wrong set of mounts unfortunately so I had no way to adjust it. Filmed again Sunday and it has been fixed 👍
Revrider550 other than that! Excellent job! Just like a motovlog. Care to send me a DM on Instagram? @Sledders_R_Us
Sledders R Us thanks! Yeah I was so bummed when I saw the footage. Tried to point my head up as best I could while riding but there was only so much I could do. Yeah you got!
hello
What the fuck 😲
tilt your camera up a bit please :)
SmarT Odd will be fixed for the next video dont worry!
I think I messaged you before,
Hey I ride up there we should meet up
Zach Hufcut Outdoors nice! I'll be up there this weekend if you're around shoot me another comment on here and we can try to coordinate
Do your homework skidoo and poo own the market had all sleds and the cat is nice but the other two are better sleds.
Lawrence MacDonald the cat is perfect for what I bought it for. A backup sled that's something different from my assault. I can appreciate what you're saying but paying double to get another polaris or a doo was not my goal.
mic in the helmet is horible
Lane Jennings plenty of other videos out there without them 👍
In 6bubu
Arctic crap
Buy a doo problem solved
Lawrence MacDonald fuck the doo. Problem solved
Lawrence MacDonald I agree, hate to be a brand basher, but cats are junk. Total garbage.
Sorry couldn’t finish watching it sounds as if your mic is in your mouth
