I have just got myself the travel mug i have not yet tested it out the main reason i chose the travel mug 2 is because i spend a lot of time at work and when i get a cup of coffee at work i don’t normally have time to finish it so it would normally be cold before i get back to it and carrying a cup around with me is hard so this will be more beneficial to me as it will keep it worm and it means i can carry it with me. The other reason is when I’m off work it will mean i can call into my local coffee shop on a morning get my coffee in the travel mug and it will keep it at my desired temperature as sometimes depending on who is preparing the coffee doesn’t always get the temperature right
A very solid review and recommendation on the Ember Mugs. I was strongly considering purchasing an Ember Travel Mug so I can take my Pour-Overs to work but for $200 and a potential additonal $40 for a charger I’d rather just stick with my $12 Columbia Cup. I held off for years, because I always thought it was so bougie. 😂 But coffee is an essential part of my day, for real. I finally caved in last year and have not regretted it one bit. I’d say 80% of my drinks are just hot black Americans. I find that milk-based drinks don’t work well. Maybe because I keep it too hot. Not sure.
This is a thorough review and mirrors my experience with the 14 oz ember mug2. I like my beverages hot and now keep a near-perfect hot tea by my side... with re-pours all-day when needed. I'm satisfied with the well engineered build quality too. The smart features makes it easier to set up a temperature value setting of 145F vs 138F for instance. And the drinker is not tied in to predefined values which is nice. My one complaint is that if my mug2 isn't sitting on the charger the battery does not "last up to 80 minutes". That must be at the lower temperature settings (not 145F as I prefer) and in a warmer environment. But perhaps I'll cover the top to help keep the heat in. In the meantime, I've ordered a second charger to keep downstairs, away from my office upstairs. And I've also purchased 3 more mug2's as very nice gifts. But reading the comments for those who don't see the value for a $100+ cup, I get it. This isn't for everyone. - Thank you Xris. I only wish that I had seen your review months ago. Cheers! I've purchased three Ember travel mugs. One for work, one for home and one for my wife. I love them. Unfortunately after 4-5 years the batteries are dying so I'll probably be repurchasing again soon. I love them. The money isn't a problem for us but I can totally understand it being a luxury item vs. a necessity.
I love my ember² but after a recent firmware update I am no longer able to remain connected to the mug with my android phone. Customer support were super unhelpful, so now my mug is a standalone device, which is very disappointing for such an expensive product.
I have the big ember mug. Apart from the app experience it's all good. But those last sips are very hot sometimes. But that's way better than cold sips ^^ Would buy the thermos one in an instant if it had USB-C and and lid with aluminum/hard rubber construction. Also kinda wished you could press a touch button and make it cool the drinks instead like with those USB cooler/heaters from a few decades ago that you just sat down any mug or can on ^^
Noooo so disappointing that the charger isn't USB-C. I was almost ready to buy one but there really is no way that I'll get another proprietary charging brick in 2022.
You are the 3rd person I saw talk about this Ember Travel Mug² and I have seen underneath the lid there is a chip in the actual product in all the reviews I have seen. I took mine back twice and have seen this chip in both Ember Travel Mug²... That's not right... Someone should say something for such an expensive mug, it should be a completely non-chipped Mug. God bless.
I think he meant that you need to fill it up almost all the way to get the full volume of the mug. The 14oz mug, when filled with 14oz will not have much room in the cup.
I have one. Not worth it. After about 30 cups or so, the coating started to come off on the bottom. I always hand washed it with a sponge, never a scouring pad. I never use a spoon with my coffee. Besides that, I found that I just didn't use it often. I used it as much as I did b/c I figured at the price point I would use it and get used to it. I never really liked it very much.
It's a ripoff. I have a collection of failed heating coasters. Lots of money and planned obsolescence. Don't buy one. I went back to my insulated mug. Keeps my coffee hot for a lot longer at a fraction of the cost. My mug is so old I can't remember when I bought it.
Buyers beware if using Android. The app that actually does all the work (setting temp etc) has MASSIVE connection issues you have to work around. Borderline unusable, definitely tedious to use. -December 2022
Eh….I just need a mug or a cup. It doesn’t need to be “smart”. I don’t need my coffee to stay hot, I actually enjoy the change in flavor as it cools. Can’t we just have good quality products that aren’t tied to the internet or whatever? Just a regular nicely made mug or whatever. Hard pass on these.

Absolutely insane video quality Xris, great review!
Concise, intelligent, and beautifully edited 🙏🏽

Thanks .Love your review before i buy one .

They do sell a lid that assists with that
Thank you so much for recommendation
I've really enjoyed my ember travel mug. After 5 years battery life has diminished so it's probably time to buy a new one.
damn that production quality tho
Odd question, but what font did you use for the thumbnail? It’s great!
i think its called titania
@@itsxris thank you! And informative video as always :)

How does it compare with the VSITOO S3 ?
6:01 You can buy 3rd party chargers with a slimmer form made for car charging
From where? I can't seem to find a single one anywhere
does the stainless mug battery last longer because stainless holds heat better?
Love your watch BTW. Looks like a Panerai.
Uh when do you tell us about the Arco, that I spotted? (Still waiting for mine :( )
soon!

Mine lasted almost a year before i accidently put it in the microwave...
Someone help me understand, so you must fill the mug all the way up in order for it to work?
No. Why would you think you need to fill it all the way?
I think he meant that you need to fill it up almost all the way to get the full volume of the mug. The 14oz mug, when filled with 14oz will not have much room in the cup.
After having to replace the charging coaster twice within the first year, I do not recommend the Ember mug. Customer service was of no help.
Wish I drank anything slow enough to justify a heated 14 oz mug
Whatever you do, don't buy this mug. The charger/coaster would stop functioning after a few months and getting help from Ember is impossible.

I bought a Yeti mug for $30 and it keeps my coffee hot for hours. Just sayin.
That dont matter some people would rather have it at the perfect temp and not too hot for too long or luke warm by the time they want it
No it does not 😊

Or just make it have an on off button! I don't want to have to update my freaking mug
to each their own, but for those that do want a product like this - I'm glad it exists
it has an off button :) its the center underneath the mug within the metal rings (3:30)
U dont need internet for it or a app at least for the travle mug
You don’t have to connect it to the internet or your phone.
Unnecessary
Wants vs. needs. Do I NEED my beverage to stay at the perfect temperature? NO. Do I LOVE having my beverage stay at the perfect temperature. YES!
