I remember when my father passed, I had a voice message from him left about 2 days before his death. I didn't take his call that day, was busy so I ignored it...and now he is gone. Life is a harsh teacher. Your dad was well aware of your love for him. I got a kick out of his appearances this year in your videos. Bless him now. That Elf foundation is my Holy Grail product! I was able to stop buying my high end foundation and just use this one.However, I am 56 and there isn't much oil left on my face LOL! BUT, I haven't found a primer that I like... so this is great information for me.
Zabrena, you know that your community is sending you lots of prayers and well wishes. I hope it is a celebration about your father's life.
Grieving isn't easy, But, the wonderful counselor I used had the best description. When you lose a loved one, it feels like you have a huge "gash" on your body. It is physically painful. But as time passes, this wound will heal, but there will always be a bruise left behind. At some point, that bruise will cause you pain because of a memory, a TV show, a commercial etc. Your Dad's love will remain with you and you get to pass it on to your children. Be kind to yourself while you grieve.

I'm 54 and am dry too.but I do have large pores.i have the NYX Angel Vail primer and I love it out of all other primers.

Sorry about your dad. I’m very thankful you’re still doing UA-cam through this because you have kept me alive and going many times through the death of my family members. My nephew is who 2 months old needs a second brain surgery it feels like a constant battle of obstacles. I just sincerely pray for you and your family and like I tell myself keep moving forward.

I went threw it four years ago the first week I gave my self a week in bed crying.Now it's when I see something that reminds me of him.Try to think of all the joy your father brought into your life! I got a sample of hourglass when I was foundation shopping at Sephora and loved it. But I couldn't purchase at the time. I bought the NYX one instead and am pretty happy with it.

That mini size of the Hourglass primer you used is only $19. The full-size is $54. I have tried both NYX & Hourglass, and while they are similar, I find the Hourglass one has more of a blurring effect to my skin.

Jenn B Yeah, that's what I've heard most people say. The Hourglass is more blurring.
More blurring, but still not worth the price tag in my opinion (and I'm in Canada, so it actually costs even more). So I just use it on special occasions, and use the NYX the rest of the time, lol
I don't have oily skin, but I always watch when you test out primers or foundations, cuz if something is strong enough to make your makeup last all day without getting oily, then I know it will last long on me. Or even if like in this case, it gets a little oily on you, I still know it will work great for my skin and last a long time since it did help at least a little bit for you. I've been purchasing stuff based on your reviews like this and so far I haven't been disappointed. ^_^
NYX gets better and better, and I keep buying their products. I have the Angel Veil primer and three other brands, but I keep reaching for the NYX Angel Veil. It is perfect for my very oily skin. Glad to see your comparison reviews on drugstore products. Really helps me make good choices on my budgeting.

That was sweet, Luanne, and so beautifully written. It is difficult to put into words what my heart feels, but you said it perfectly. My mother passed 16 years ago, and my father 3 years ago, and I can't say that time has made it easier, but you saying we learn to live differently without them very well sums up what life is like now. Luanne Santos I agree with you. We do learn to cope without them and live differently. I lost my dad to aml leukemia March of 2012. I miss him so very much. It’s been 6 years and time has not made it easier on me. The feelings of loss feel so raw at times. I see him so much in my 17 yr old son, the way he looks and his kind heart. We then lost my sister to years of alcoholism in July 2016. I find comfort knowing that they are together. I know in my heart that they are watching over us and giving us strength to move forward here until we meet again. What I would give to be able to pick up the phone and hear their voices. There is no time limit on grief.
You said it perfectly I lost my grandma 5 years ago August will be 6 I still cry for her when something reminds me of her or I get sad I was 7 months pregnant when she passed and she died in front of me we were very close I'm her first grandchild. The first year was the hardest especially family events/holidays. It's still not the same without her but you learn how to carry on. Everyone dies at one point you just have to keep pushing. They will always be in your heart and you will always have the memories. One thing I love to remember is even though I can't see her I know she is with me
Luanne, so sorry for your loss. Please take care, and to the rest of the ladies - I lost my mom at 7 years old. I lost my dad a year later. I was put into an orphanage - adopted out. Long story short I have had to bury two sets of parents, my biological parents, then my adopting parents.
No, it doesn't get easier, but I have learned to give God thanks for having given me a second set of parents. Somehow, God has lessened my pain. God bless all of you.

I mix the elf foundation with my It cosmetics cc cream and it stays about 10 hours. You are right about makeup. Not everyone will have the same results . I appreciate videos of affordable dupes. For people on a budget it’s nice to know we have options. BTW the carli by bel palette is a must have for me ever since you first introduced it last year. You always create the most beautiful looks. Zabrena! UPDATE!!!! Due to your video on concealers I got samples of Bare Minerals Well Rested and the Bare Minerals Bisque Concealer. Well FINALLY this 52 yr old can wear concealer without all the cakey gross situation I’ve been having! I just can’t get regular concealers to look smooth or normal under my eyes. I’ve tried soooo many and was at the end of my rope. Then you mentioned this and I thought I’d try. I use just a small amount of Bisque to cover darkness in inner rye corner and eye bags then a bit of We’ll Rested to brighten! And it’s a MIRACLE! It looks covered but not cakey and looks seemless under my eyes.

I’m oily and I love the Angel Veil....I’m on my 3rd bottle now! I find it does so well with my oily T zone and my foundation lasts all day! Ive heard from others that it’s a dupe for the Hourglass, now you’ve confirmed it! Thanks so much! Sorry about your daddy. 😞

So sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sure you mentioned it in an earlier video that I missed because my mom passed away and then I had her memorial and had to be out of town for both. I saw your video of moving your dad closer to your home, so I know how close you were with him. My mother's passing was unexpected, so we were/are grieving simultaneously. Since I know how hard my mom's death has been on me, I known what you're going through. People tell me it gets better with time, but I can't confirm or deny, yet. Hugs!

I’ve got both of these and had the Hourglass one first and found it good on my oily skin. The only thing I’d say with the NYX one is its superficially like Hourglass but doesn’t hold oil back as long and is certainly more moisturising but it’s way cheaper!

I did really liked the nyx angel veil primer, it held my makeup for so long, I am currently using the elf hydration face primer which I love too; I will pray for you and your family as you will be at your dad's memorial and may god give you strength my lovely Zabrena❤🌹
I have used both of these primers for weeks each. They perform the same. I saw no difference except for the price. I use the NYX one now because it costs less. I got the hourglass one in a subscription box. Thanks for all you do love your videos!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Interesting to see this comparison. For me, the tint on the Nyx is very strong and pale pink to me. It also tends to react a bit weird and balls up and seperates with my oily combo skin and my favorite foundations, whereas I love how the extended staying power of the hourglass which doesn’t leave as much of a cast on me

I'm so sorry to here about your dad! Praying strength and comfort over you and your family! I just got back from a funeral this morning (Friday) and this was one of the first videos I watched. Thank you for this because I just ran out of primer (The high spredability fluid primer from The Ordinary) that was my new favorite but I don't wanna have to wait for it to get here so I've been wanting one I can find in stores that's good! I have dry skin so I think this would work well for me! :) Again I'm so sorry for your loss and praying that God continues to give you strength!

I have been using the NYX Angel Veil for about a month. I have extremely oily skin, and it does help my foundation wear longer and smoother. I've never tried the Hourglass, but I did buy the NYX bc I heard it was a dupe. Thanks for the video. My thoughts are with you.
I’ve used the Mineral Veil for years loving it esp as it bumps up a little SPF with its 15 I received the NYX veil as a sample when it first came out and despised it as it’s totally different for me. It clumped over dry patches I didn’t even know I had. There was no pore blurring after a couple hours. It didn’t have that lovely elegant feel that the Hourglass does to me. And the tinted moisturizer I used on top of it was just a nasty mess after a few hours. So I threw it out and still keep the Hourglass in my rotation all these years later. But I realize my dry skin has needs totally different than other skin types so it’s wonderful it works for others!
Please do a wear test on the Hard Candy primers! Thanks for a great comparison test as usual!! May God continue to comfort and strengthen you daily. Lost my mom back in October.

Not primer related, but oily skin related. The only thing has kept my oils at bay would be the Tarte Shape Tape concealer when I use it to highlight the center of my face pretty much most of the tzone, I am never oily when I use it!
