And yes, if the rest of the galaxy is like this we're probably better off instituting a no contact under any circumstances policy. And building even bigger fleets and armies. Because I suspect these xenos are so dense they won't take the hint.
So I'll take a drop for every hour shе'll never dance Hidе a piece in every city she'll never see I know that this won't make it better But I don't want to live without her So the last drop, the last drop is for me
You do not mess with the children. I think humanity chose isolation because they were scared of their own response to the deliberate torture of children. And the remainder of the galaxy should be thankful.
I found this to be quite entertaining... and I just happen to have a pipe wrench right here, feels like I may be needing it for the foreseeable future as things stand.
This is how you get the Warhammer 40K Universe. One thing new people to the franchise and lore don't realize is humanity is Xenophobic because this is the kinda BS they encountered when entering the wider galaxy. They had their Star Trek peace and high tech prosperity phase but hostile aliens and AI uprisings turned them into tech fearing xenophobes we know and love today. ;)
Love this Story. I didn't find it Dark at all. As the Klingon would say" Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold." There is nothing in that story, I wouldn't do if it was my Children.
There is a reason for war crime prohibitions. It is to try to keep this part of us from awakening. Break the rules, especially with children, and you learn the side of us we hide from ourselves.
Very Dark. Good, but... Look, I love the story until the Aliens flat out don't know about immature humans. Would have been better if they were insects, or some race who has many many children and a huge mortality rate, so they didn't CARE about children. Not getting "civilians", I can see in some contexts. Or one or two heartless races. Not 17, who know neither Civilians nor Children. The story fails at the final hurdle for me. :( Narration, as always, great.
Oh, I can see 17 such races. Or more. There is no reason to expect other species to share human sensibilities or moral qualms. Besides, I can point to several points in human history where conquering armies saw the people they were conquering as animals. If we did this to ourselves because of national, or racial prejudices, why would we think a totally alien species would be better? Besides, everything this elf said was attempts to deflect blame, guilt trip, or justify himself with the "Everyone else does it too so I'm not guilty". It doesn't mean what he's saying is how he really sees things. He probably got his jollies off torturing the women and children. He seems like the type. So he's just trying to BS his way out. Look at how Romans saw everyone else in the world as illiterate, brainless barbarians that needed to be beaten into submission and given the "benefits" of Roman law. Only people they half respected were the Greeks. And when the Greeks were having their little conquest spree they had the same feeling of being innately superior. And the Greeks and Romans were the same species they were conquering. Throw in old empires that have no respect or concern for "barbarian" races and a totally different species and I can absolutely see 17 such empires. Easily.
Yesterday there was a story whose moral was "Never mess with a momma bear." Today we see what happens when you mess with papa bear.
Yep, and pappa bear is bigger, stronger, and more adept at carnage. (we've been killing for a very very very long time)
@@Wastelandman7000my thoughts exactly
This wasn't a papa bear. This was the entire wolf population. We can be very effective when you get enough wolves together.
And yes, if the rest of the galaxy is like this we're probably better off instituting a no contact under any circumstances policy.
And building even bigger fleets and armies. Because I suspect these xenos are so dense they won't take the hint.
OOOOOooo i was in a VERY odd mood when i scribbled this one.
i have no idea what i was up to before but GOD i was pissed off. but anyway
So I'll take a drop for every hour shе'll never dance
Hidе a piece in every city she'll never see
I know that this won't make it better
But I don't want to live without her
So the last drop, the last drop is for me
If you're the author, good story. Art isn't necessarily pretty. That applies to writing too. Thank you for sharing. It was powerful.
@@TheIclandicVikingThat's beautiful in a terrible sort of way.
I do enjoy your tales @valtie2589.

Bravo Sir Encore and well done to the writer!
Squirrel,You said dark. you delivered holy shite
And the F.A.F.O Award of the century goes to.....

They were introduced to the concept of Scorched Earth.
Scorched Earth? No. You can recover from Scorched Earth. Vaporized Earth on the other hand...
Start of story me: oh, its one about human war brutality.
End of story mr: oh, its a nice little story of genocide avenging a child.
I found this to be quite entertaining... and I just happen to have a pipe wrench right here, feels like I may be needing it for the foreseeable future as things stand.

For the Algorithm, for the Author(s), for the Disembodied Voice!
Excellent story.

Or worse. I know myself, I'm capable of worse under those circumstances.
Much longer slower and it would last weeks
Seems like a reasonable reaction, maybe a little on the light side. Hfy!
Yeah, he didn't set him on fire. Must have been a serious temptation.
He really had a lot of restraint. With the Inquisition and all to draw ideas from, he went to the pipe. Amateurs.
When one needs to make an example ... Do as the humans would do.
Sounds about right
dont mess with kids .
Thanks for the warning. I won't listen, but I'll comment: for the algorithm!
At last, no more Geneva.
It’s a checklist. Consider them all…checked.
You torture our young, the Geneva checklist is too mild.
Not a bad story but I'd only give it about a 2 out of 10 on the Darkness scale.
When all you have left is rage
The Admiral got off easy.
Great story, thanks
Retribution comes in many forms
Here! Here! More like this please?
A dark forest future.
wowowowowom wowow good one.

Great story
The Reddit link still leads to the previous story
should be corrected
I enjoyed that 1 a lot as a single dad!
dark
I would have done far worse
No one likes Elves, seems fair
Not so dark. Understandable.
Suffer not the xenos.
I really don't understand why the warning on this story . Humans do much worse things to each other every single day .
Life's grim and ugly most of the time. People that grew up after the internet went public can't handle that.
I’m glad the warning was there. My son and I listen to these stories together.
the intimacy and graphic descriptions
You got all ages on here. That and some are too sentimental and;or soft to hear such a tale.
@Wastelandman7000 supposed to be all ages over 13
