  • Nestled in the heart of the Coastal Redwood National Park, Crescent City is the crown jewel of the North Coast of California. This video gives a small glimpse of the pristine and vibrant natural rain-forest ecosystems of this well-kept secret in the Magical Land of Giant Beaches, Ancient Forests, and Tsunami Waves! Enjoy the music of Hans Zimmer entitled "First Step" from the soundtrack of Interstellar.

My birthplace and home for the first 15 years of my life. I was born there 100 years after my gt gt grandfather settled there in 1853. A beautiful but perpetually troubled place since the arrival of the pioneers.

Its simple, Only a mere 2% of this magnificent historically unmatched Forrest remains. As incredibly large and wonderful as these are they are a very rare breed because of the MASSIVE logging that took place well before Americas west was civilized and continued well into the 1900's this decimating this spiritual & scared place we call Northern California. The true Land before time as these Trees most of which were standing thousands of years before Christ walked the earth. Fort Bragg was established entirely to protect these trees form the French and others who were stealing these resources.

It's sin and ignorance not pioneers. Pioneering is good Acts 1:8

Missing my childhood home. I grew up living under these Giants living for a time in Stout Grove, then later for my high school years, on the North Bank of the Smith River waiting for the bus at the base of one of these magnificent Redwoods. In my junior year I was with a friend on Whalers Island when a small earthquake hit and was grateful to make it back to the beach! I live in the mountains of Montana now but my heart will always be along the beautiful beaches of Crescent Harbor and the Smith River.

Don't you wish that you would have realized the special nature of these magnificent species when you were a child. This is my spiritual home and I go there often. Lucky you.

The gothic light house at night, trees, elk on beach , native massacre history, river salmon, tsunami etc would make for a great movie backdrop🤔

I love this place. I have been there 3 times and I am just awestruck at the natural beauty, and I LOVE the buoy that sounds very often. Locals don't even notice it, but I do, and it is comforting and so appropriate.

I don’t understand why more people don’t move here. IMO it has everything. It is remote though. I’m guessing most folks here want it that way.

I loved living in crescent city. But my job sucked and other jobs are scarce. Had to leave. I see the population has declined by a lot. Maybe for similar reasons.
