i just slotted out the stalks and put the cruise control stalks back in so no need to remove air bag or steering wheel
That was probably on the Gen 3 not gen 4? Gen 3 stalks are in two separate halves

Enable what? If you have a mk4 and have installed the same style stalks then there is no enabling required - it's plug and play
