The pain people go through to make us “normal” is horrendous. Then a few exceptional people are celebrated when they achieve something noteworthy and there’s a brief discussion about how so many more people would achieve great things with the right environment and accessibility. Then cost is mentioned (and often ‘but this will unfairly benefit more able people’ so very little happens and life goes back to ‘the normals’ competing or celebrating with each other and leaving the change to be made in individual lives by extraordinary people like Sam’s mother. And Sam. I hope the people who the world needs to read this book will, but doubt it (unless they have a disabling accident, incident or illness). If there’s an audio edition I’ll buy it. ✊🏼❤️🕊⚖️
