When I was young I had purchased front spindles and disc brakes from a man parting out a '69 Cougar with a steel sun roof. Turned out to be a Dan Gurney special that he refused to sell whole. The engine was already gone but the body was solid and the interior was there. It saddened me to take the parts off the car but I wanted disc brakes for the front my '68 Torino GT fastback. Two of my friends had '69 mustang fastbacks, one was a Mach 1. Easily the meanest the mustang ever looked. They are so damn hard to find with out spending a fortune today.
Me too. The 70 BOSS 302 is my favorite Mustang ever built I think. There were better straight line performers out there, but the BOSS 302 was the total package
WOW!...A 69 Mach 1 with a Steel Sunroof from the Factory!...I had a 69 Mach 1 but was unaware that a Steal Sunroof was an Option!...I was wondering was it a Crank Style or was it Electric Powered? I wonder were they any 69 Shelby's with a Steel Sunroof from the Ford Factory?...I saw a 68 Shelby GT500 with a Experimental Steel Sunroof Given away in a Contest! The 69/70 Shelby Mustang's were my favorite Mustang's when I was in High School and I wouldn't mind Building a Tribute Shelby Mustang with a Electric Powered "Moonroof" in mind!...I am Just Saying!...God Bless America! 😊
69 Mustang Mach 1 is by far one of the top 6 BEST LOOKING MUSCLE cars of all time. The design of it exterior and interior is decades ahead of its time, never mind for 69. Right up there with 69 Charger R/T , 69 Camaro Z-28, 70 GTX, 70 Chevelle SS and of course CUDA
9940 Mach 1's with the 390 4 speed? According to Kevin Marti's book "Mustang, by the numbers' 3391 fast backs with the wide ratio 4 speed/390 and 881 with the close ratio 4 speed 390 combo. Also per the person who found and sold this Mach 1 to the brothers this car has a Shelby connection, and that got the Sun roof for the buyer. Part of why Brad paid up when he bought this car from us is the history! It should all be in your file. This car belonged to Carroll Shelby's Mothers doctor. She pulled some stings and the doctor and his pal flew from Seattle to SoCal to pick them up in person, meet Carroll and drive them home. When I purchased the car in 2006 I was told it was Carrolls heart surgeon who had the car built but when I tracked down the original owner that was not the case... That is in fact an ASC / Golde sunroof as seen in a Cougar (smaller sliding panel) but the doctor did not want a Cougar on even a Shelby, it HAD to be a 69 MACH. Carroll did not take it personally and since his mother never leaned on her son for anything automotive, of course he had to do it. The doctor always regretted not opting for the 428 CJ.
Plus just to let you know the Mustang is a Compact "pony car" not a muscle car. Muscle cars are mid-size to full size cars like the Ford Torino or Ford Galaxie
I owned a 69Mach 1, same color Gulfstram Aqua,351 2 barrel,4speed with a Hurst shifter,and a hood mounted tach,got married a child on the way,sold it for $6,800.00 best car I ever owned.
Was the 390 available with ram air? There was a ram air set up available for the standard hood scoop. I owned a 1969 Mustang GT that had the hood factory cut for the standard scoop ram air, but the special air cleaner assembly was not on the vehicle when I purchased it. I know the 428 CJ was available with the standard scoop and ram air. I purchased my first Mustang in 1976, it was a 1969 GT. The rarest Mustang I could have bought ( for under 1K) was a 1969 Mustang GT convertible 428 CJ drag pack, 3:91 with automatic trans. Made a really dumb mistake and missed out on a 1969 Mach I 428 CJ drag pack 4 speed, 4:30 for $700. These were just used cars when I first owned them, had not become classics yet. Unfortunately, I can not afford to buy what I used to own. I have owned many 1969-'70 Mustangs. I really liked those cars back in the day...
I don't know. Where I come from it rains lots. Sun roofs leek. I think I would go with the shaker hood and Cobra engine. But it's a nice looking car. Thanks for putting it out there. Look forward to next week.
How did Ford put a 2 barrel carb on this Mach 1 when there was a 390 cu. in. block in the car? My brother had a '69 Mach1 351 Cleveland V8, and it was installed with a 4 barrel carb standard.
Shame your rear quarter windows are glued shut due to a manufacturing flaw on the 69 fastback. Mate u should of bought the 69 COUPE which not only do the rear windows go down but they’re ALSO pillarlless!
I have to applaud Ford for the variety of ways you could oufit some of their cars such as these Mustangs.
Turn signal indicator on the hood - I love that kind of stuff. I wish todays manufacturers would be as innovative when it comes to new ideas.
Me too.
that is an amazing colour for a mustang!
This channel is very informative - great job!

Always liked the 69-70 Mustang body style the best. 67-68 is a close second
that blue color makes the Mach 1 look very Boss - 429 like. me like!
Your gorgeous.
+Steven Sanchez thank you ! ;)
I'm drooling!! So gorgeous!!
I use to own a 71' mach 1 351 cleveland 4spd. That's a beautiful 69'. Would love to have a 70' boss 302.

It was not an option unless you were tight with Carroll. This is the only known car commissioned by Carroll's mother.
Not factory installed. It was installed AFTER the car was built.

The brothers have to many cars, they should let me have one for my birthday lol.
Pretty loaded car!
The car John Wick drove.Fucking masterpiece.God I love mustangs. They have the best lines of the muscle car era.
Didn't John Wick drove a 1969 Boss 429?
John Wick drove a Boss 429

@@theone5716 no he didn't, it was a 69 mach 1. No boss 429 came with a auto.
@@jeremythompson9122 Look at the shifter in his car, ratchet shift auto. No boss came with a auto.

Yes, you could get the 390 with the shaker, but it is very rare.

actually this design is much like you see in modern cars and were not that bad...
Nice really nice
I cant believe the clock works! First time i saw that...ever!
We put in a quartz and this was the first time it had a battery in stalled in quite awhile.
Scott Minter from Prosser, Wash has a the identical car. WITH sunroof and tiltaway steering
In essence the sunroof was an interior/exterior option!
Nice!
I wish you had shown how the sun roof operated.
So delicate and impossible to find parts for you do it sparingly...
@@donrush5690 I understand. Thank you for the reply.
I got a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 *M*Code with a Sunroof... Need to know it if it's factory

Not sure if I understand your question, but this particular car had a 4 barrel in a. 390 S - code . 320 horse
Frustrating, you still can't get a factory sunroof on a Mustang.
They "knew the owner would be active" then shows fold down seats. 🤣
I’ve seen a sunroof on a cougar, but not a mustang.
I'm no ford expert but I always thought the magnum wheels was a 70 option?
We put the wheels on for eyeball, the original 14x6 wheels are safely tucked away.

I have a 69 mach 1...the windows turn out so you can funnel air in
They were never glued shut.
Sunroof not installed at the factory does NOT make it a factory installed sunroof. NO mustangs in 69 or 70 came with a sunroof. NONE!
mach 71 make them die for me also great cars
Not to different than the boss
