It makes me so happy to finally stumble across someone who mentions Clank! and loves it as much as I do!!
My personal favourite DBs:
1) Rune Age with its expansion... 6 asymmetric factions, different modes Inc. PvP, coop, semicoop, solo. Amazing combat system. Really thematic (unlike many DBs)
2) Tyrants of the Underdark
3) Quest for El Dorado... race game with blocking and bottlenecks (hence interactive)
Have you played Acrtic Scavengers? Its unique (and I don't use that word lightly) twist is that you use your unactivated cards to then contend with other players for the best resource cards (not available for purchase).
Great picks!!
We love Clank too! DCDBG also gets played quite a bit in our house too. So much variety with all the different exps :) My Top 10 would have included Keep the Heroes Out. Great fun :)
Haven’t try that one but heard good things. I will have to check it out 😀
I also love Clank
May be jou i’ve to try the tyrants of the underdark.
Thx
I agree with everything except list ruins of agnark. The deck building is sooo tacked on. Most cards I get are only used once maybe twice. It was an afterthought.
Nice list, agree with most of it. I'm interested in The Hunger now, is it interactive? Not a fan of games with little interaction
The interactive parts of The Hunger are not really explicit. For example, when you land on the same space as another player, you can push that player away 1 space. This can be vital for reaching the castle on time. Also, reaching certain locations (like the Eternal Rose and the castle) give a bigger reward to the player that reaches it first. And hunting humans is also first-come-first-serve, which makes you think about positioning, since this determines turn order each round.
I've heard that there is more interaction in the expansion, but I have only played the base game so can't say for sure.
Star Realms is my no1. Then Dune and Arnak.
Star realms almost made the cut it is a great game
Lost ruins of ... agnok? Huh?
No, he said "Agnar". LOL.
@@nicholasschneider6655He says Agnar early in the segment and Agnok at the end.
@@chuckm1961 Agnarok ....Lost Ruins of Ragnarok
Lost Ruins of Eggnog!
Star realms wasn't on this list? That game is by far one of the best deck building games of all time. What the heck lol
I think he just prefers the more "boardgamey" deckbuilders. I personally love games like Star Realms, Ascension and Shards of Infinity as well, but they are almost a different genre.
The board is an illusion. Star Realms could have a board... but you don't REALLY need it. Conceptually, a board is kinda pointless for a deckbuilder.@@Gemwielders
@@rebelresource Well, it depends. In a game like Tyrants of the Underdark the board is not completely irrellevant. And even if it is just there "illusionary", you still have to set it up, have the space and so on. It alters the experience significantly.
What if the same game could be played without the board and it did not alter the experience?? That just seems like a better game on the face of it.@@Gemwielders
I’d suggest Tyrants of the Underdark, Quest for El Dorado, and Valley of the Kings too.
Those sound great thanks
Also, there is Xenon Profiteer. Nice deckbuiling - Engine building :)
Just want to say.... Where is El Dorado?
Agnar
What is the game over YOUR right shoulder ???
Clank is definitely fantastic and Dune Imperium is also amazing. I love both of those games, especially Catacombs and Acquisitions Inc. when it comes to Clank. Honestly, I feel like Dominion is overrated. I definitely liked it way back in the day when it first came out, but I think it has lost its luster and there are tons of other games out there that are way better to the point that I find Dominion to be boring. I personally love the game Summer Camp when it comes to a deck builder. I was totally surprised by this one as it seems like a cheap junk game from Walmart but it is actually really good! There is a ton of replay ability and you can change the feel of it based on the different activities you choose. Use Games and Friendship and it is very interactive. Use Arts and Crafts and Adventure and it becomes much more technical. Plus I feel like you can play with hard core gamers or non-gamers alike and have a great time!
Dont Trust any deckbuildinglist without ascension 😂
Hit the Cultist!!!
Well maybe I AM a little away but the Game that is named endless winter WHY is not here?
I mention why in the first 30 seconds
The choice of cards is too small to be a decent deck builder, plus Endless Winter feels disjointed, each expansion feels like playing several separate mini-games all at once and then scored together ... it s literally like playing Monopoly, Ludo, and chess in the same thematic design, and then scoring them together ... I sold my copy!
There are no Tyrants of the Underdark in the top. You don't like Tyrants?
Never played it, but sounds like something I would enjoy 👍
Tyrants is great!
@@judgemario Yes, Tyrants is one of my favourite games.
Dune and Arnak are bad deck builders with great theme 🤷♂️
I much prefer Dominion with a low theme but a great engine.
No Quest for el Dorado? This is disappointing :(
Where is smash up
Uhm ..
Marvel champions, LOTR lcg and Arkham lcg all missing? What is this, a twisted timeline?
You don't deckbuild as part of the gameplay in those. I love them too, but he's focusing on games where deckbuilding doesn't happen before play starts.
