I think he did a fantastic job with this solo variant. Does a great job giving you the feel of the full game without too much overhead to manage for the bot. The colored version of the player mat looks super sharp as well. Yeah it’s a lot like Star Realms but it does have enough different and new to stand on its own for me. Loving the game and the solo mode a lot right now!
This is probably my favorite deckbuilder, which is my favorite genre, after Ascension Tactics. But this one is so super playable and easy to get to the table, it almost competes for the #1 spot. We play the Jabba variant (either solo or co op) and really like how easy it is to run. The AI doesn’t really feel like playing vs another player, but it still feels like the full experience of playing the game. Great game, great playthrough!
The mechanic of defeating opposing faction cards in the galaxy row was first implemented in the Power Rangers the deckbuilding game. Nevertheless, the game is fantastic! Thanks for sharing the variant.
Hey Mike! I was thinking of picking this up but hesitated because it lacked a native solo mode then I found this fan made variant and was curious how this stacks up against Star Realms Frontiers solo mode in your opinion.
Hm... so... that's a tough one. I like that this is more like fighting against a "real player", whereas Star Realm Frontiers is more "flip a card and some stuff happens". But on the other hand, I tend to like the deckbuilding in Star Realms a bit more, since you can cull a lot and your cards combo together more. In Star Wars your deck can get huge and you don't have that same sense.
I don’t see in the rules that you don’t get the resources and abilities of the capital ship in the turn when you play it. Is that specific to this solo variant?
Dang it, you are right!!! I was hyper-focused on the start of turn step where you collect capital ship resources, but I ignored the fact that you are still playing the card and so of course you should get its resources. I’ll add a note to the video soon…
I’m on the list for the official solo/coop mode for the expansion coming later this year, so I think I’m going to wait for that to do coverage. I’ve played it competitively though and I think it’s great!
Interesting variant! I still have mine in shrink (as I hoped to play with a friend one day haha). This solo variant seems good to have some quick plays. I am curious on any other solo options that you liked? Or was this the most appropriate one for you?
I didn’t play any of the others on BGG, just read through them. Most tried to play through a turn for the enemy in a more traditional way, which I imagine would work fine
Thanks for the playthrough and highlighting a solo variant for this game! I had Shards of Infinity and moved on from that one. After many plays, solo started to feel stale and lackluster. Of Star Realms Frontier and Stars Wars Deck Building Game, which one would you prefer more for solo play?
Honestly, I’d say neither of them. If you are looking for pure solo or coop play, I recommend other options - ua-cam.com/video/sv0MUFcpoQY/v-deo.html But if I have to choose… it’s still tough. Frontiers has more variety in boss modes, but I like the extra mechanics added in Star Wars
You're right! I didn't notice that before. Thematically that makes sense, though I don't know if it's worth having a rules exception like that just for theme :)
great video ... altugh .. really sorry to possibly burst your bubble - the very last turn that empire attacks you , i think if you would account for the base power "each TROOPER" gaining +1 attack ... you'd be dead
this game would be good as an APP but I not going to pay the price they want for a physical copy, only way to play in the box is against another human which will be a lot easier as an APP plus could play against AI
So… you’re just against physics competitive board games in general then? 😅 Because you could say the same thing about any competitive board game without a solo mode. “It would be easier to play this online with other people”.
Thank you so much for giving my variant a try, and I'm happy you enjoyed it! You did an amazing job explaining it!
Awesome job on the design of this one. I had a blast :)
This is such a good AI.
Thanks m8! We need more smart guys like you :)
Oh wow, my starwars destiny idol! Designing all the best starwars AIs ❤

Agreed, great game and great solo variant

Great game, great playthrough!
I’ll have to give the Jabba one a try. Didn’t realize it had coop! My son is SO into this game right now. It’s been a blast to play a bunch with him
Giving this a try today! Thanks for this video overview.
Hope you have a blast!
Been itching for this! Great video as always
I have been waiting for you to do this one.
On 18:36 the Imperium would have gained 2 force, 1 from the track, 1 from exiling the outer rim pilot.
Thanks for the Video - this is a fun way to play.
The mechanic of defeating opposing faction cards in the galaxy row was first implemented in the Power Rangers the deckbuilding game. Nevertheless, the game is fantastic! Thanks for sharing the variant.
Thanks for the clarification! I never played that one

What happens to enemy capital ships between turns? Exile, or do they stay until they get blown up?
They stay around until they are destroyed, then they are exiled

Great video, hopefully you can upload one of the solo variant of War of the ring the card game, greetings!

If assaulting the enemy leader does damage carry over or do you have to do it all at once?
I think all at once

Capital ships can not be used to attack cards in the galaxy row. So star destroyer attacking Chewbacca would not have been a legal play.
You're right! I didn't notice that before. Thematically that makes sense, though I don't know if it's worth having a rules exception like that just for theme :)
Where can I get the sheet that tracks the progress?
The link to everything you need is in both the video description and the pinned comment
Why did they send you a copy to do a solo varient videl. Id think they would want you to play the base game
Since we are a solo and coop-only channel, that’s all we can do :)
Good exposure = good business.
The game is fantastic both ways.
great video ... altugh .. really sorry to possibly burst your bubble - the very last turn that empire attacks you , i think if you would account for the base power "each TROOPER" gaining +1 attack ... you'd be dead
Perhaps! No worries though. On to the next game 😅

@@OneStopCoopShop I don't consider this a board game though, it is a card game different to me at least
Your preferences, your call! :)
