@user-hm5zb1qn6g LOL! It would be a factory for printing money!!! 😅💰🚀☘ Resale value for all PSA slabs has dropped over the past couple years too, so unless you get a PSA 10 back, chances of reselling for any profit is next to impossible. 🙄🤑😳
I have looked and researched off and on literally for years for a straightforward breakdown of what's involved dealing directly with PSA from Canada (also in Vancouver here). Not crazy about paying for a middleman service, even if they can spot issues I might decide not to send a card in for, but there's already enough opportunity for mix-ups as it is, and I don't trust some local middlemen not to swap my cards for theirs in the process. And a realistic picture of other costs, taxes, billing... this should be a readily available resource online. There's enough here to make its own website. Thanks for sharing!
@harrumphy Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment! I really appreciate it!🙏😀 I remember searching through forums and other places online to gather info on the best ways to ship from Canada. And I don't want to talk too negatively about the "middle-man services" as I've never used them, but there were a handful of stories that popped up during the boom in the 2020s. Here's a link from the PSA site about a story of a large Submitter going bankrupt: www.psacard.com/articles/articleview/10594/official-statement-regarding-marx-cards So being in charge of my own cards makes me feel the most secure. I do think the worst is behind us. Thanks for sharing and best of luck with your PSA Grades!!! 😀☘🔥
Valuable info here. I’ve sent 2 orders to PSA in the past couple of years using a 3rd party service. They handle everything I just need to fill out a basic form and ship to them and it’s usually only an extra 2-4 dollars per card in grading fees, they also offer a pre-screening service if you don’t trust your own grading eye. . I only felt comfortable because I had been following the guys on YT and they have one of the most reputable shops in the USA and the owner is a great guy and has been around the biz for several decades. A rare gem in today’s world. Based on my experience I would trust them with just about anything, but would consider handing any really valuable cards over to PSA myself at a card site where they have a booth like the National…would make for an awesome trip too. I am not affiliated with them or anything, but if you of your readers are interested in who it is just ask.
@matts.6558 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! 👍🙏 And yes please share which 3rd Party Service you've used. Hopefully, others reading the comment section can get more info so they can make the best decision for themselves on how best to send their cards in for grading. 😀💪
@@hockeycardsincanada Well again thank you for putting this content out there. Of course. I just didn't put the name out there at first to appear like I was falsely promoting someone or something (I cringe every time I read those comments). its GotBaseballCards in Georgia owned by Joe Davis, great guys and can only speak to the experience I've had with them and in my opinion, you can trust them, been around for too long to risk their reputation over a some switch outs.
@matts.6558 Oh yes, I've heard of GotBaseballCards and have seen some videos of Joe. He seems like one of the "good guys" out there with being in the biz since the 1990s. Thanks! I appreciate you sharing helpful info and knowledge! 😀
Fantastic video! Gives me courage to try submitting to PSA for the first time! Thanks for explaining the inbound customs costs too - this is all the info I need in one spot!
@Supakoopaparatroopa Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! You got this! 💪 Feel free to drop a question if you get stuck and I'll do my best to help you. I've answered a few questions, so you might have an answer in the comment section too.😀🔥👍
@Jordan458_ Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! Glad the vid is helpful. If you have any questions, drop em here and I'll do my best to answer. Good luck with your PSA order! 😀💪🔥
@OctopusTone Yes, hard to understand why Canada Post can't offer higher insurance. That's one of the main reasons why I sent my recent Bedard YGs on its own to get graded. Good luck with your PSA submission! 😃☘🔥👍
@Luke Braddford Awesome! I'm glad my video helped. If you get stuck along the way, leave a question and I'll try my best to answer and help you out. Good luck with your future submission! 🔥💪
Thanks for the informative video! For my first ever PSA submission, I'll be submitting 2 cards that are each over $1000 insurance limit through Canada Post. A bit nervous but hoping for the best!
@@hockeycardsincanada Thanks, just sent my shipment today but will see what happens! One thing I was curious on for next time is whether I should declare my values as $0 if we use the Repair & Return option but for now, I listed the actual values of the cards 🤔
@quincyho8713 For Declared Value, I believe making it close to the actual value helps if there's ever a need for an insurance claim to be opened. There's a bit about Declared Value from PSA Canada site: psacanada.ca/faq/ Having a lower value listed won't save any money on Duties/Taxes, because you'll be charged based on what PSA charges you for grading (not based on value of cards) ... though I've heard higher declared values might draw the attention of postal worker thieves. Not trying to scare you, just highlighting all the angles and the importance of insurance. But hope your package has arrived safely! 😀🙏💪
@@hockeycardsincanada Awesome thanks for the tips and sharing that useful link! I was originally thinking of under-declaring my goods but I listed my card values the same way you showed in your video (same declared values as PSA submission forms) since it ultimately needs to go through US Customs. And I presume it's technically lying if Customs look at your Submission Forms and the values are different. My package is still stuck in transit while at a hub facility (awaiting US Customs for 24 hours) but hopefully it will be safely delivered. 🙏🙂
@quincyho8713 I've had a submission stuck in customs for a few days, so don't stress too much (though hard not to right?!?)... plus I've sold cards to buyers in the US, and I've had a number of packages get held up as there must be millions and millions of packages that hit those facilities each week. After it arrives to PSA, it may take another day or 2 for it to get into the system, so that takes a bit of time too. Though they may be less busy these days. Hope it all arrives quickly for you!
@SlimyDen Good luck! I'm glad my video could help non-hockey card collectors too 😀👍 Thanks for taking the time to leave the comment too. If you have any questions, I'll try to help. Here's hoping you get lots of PSA 10s!!! 😀☘🏆🔥🤑
@K W Thanks for watching! 🙏 I think it totally depends if you collect graded cards or not. If you do, it might be worth exploring this option. I enjoy the whole process of it all... so it that's interesting, give it a shot. It's pretty easy once you do it once... it all kinda makes sense afterward. However, if it seems too stressful to send your cards in the mail. I wouldn't bother. I'm a firm believer in just do stuff and collect things that make you happy! 😀👍But if you have a question, drop it in the comments and I always do my best to answer everyone!
For the customs form I always select repair and return, and for the contents I put "small photographs". I feel like put anything sportscard related on the package makes it more likely for it to get stolen or messed with. I have never had anything go missing or any problems with customs *knock on wood 😃
@Adam Crawford Thanks for sharing! I like your reasoning behind this. Anything to bring less heat and attention to Postal Thieves is probably a very good thing. Appreciate your comments! 😀💪
Great video!! But for some reason when I am on the "Shipping and Billing" section, it does not let me add my canadian credit cards? Its only asking for a US address whenever I try to add a new payment method.. Let me know if there is a fix to this!
@_lammerz Hmmm... that's odd. On my end with my free Canada Post account, I am able to update my CC info by editing "My Profile" on the top right corner on my PC. Seems weird that it would assume you're in the US. I suggest trying to book another shipment and see if that changes anything. Also, if you create a Free account, you don't have to put in new info each time. It stores stuff including the PSA Address. Good luck!
@bobby dice Ya... It all worked out in the end. My insurance kicked in, plus eBay reversed the charges. But it took several months and I had to prove a lot of stuff by sending screenshots etc. Gigantic headache for sure and super stressful. Makes me content to sell on the eBay platform and pay whatever fees they charge, and nervous to sell via IG or FB groups where there's zero protection from getting scammed.
Very informative video. Thanks for the step-by-step instructions on how to send from Canada. Good to know about the max insurance value....wondering what the insurance max is with PSAs Fed Ex option?
@Fraser Mulholland Thanks for the positive words! I remember shipping with FedEx and getting $500 and $1,000 for insurance. Another time, I actually forgot to check before paying online... and when I tried ask someone at the drop off, they couldn't tell me. And I couldn't get anyone on the phone to tell me either... I was told that the lower-priced shipments get shipped with "FedEx Ground" which is actually a subcontracted courier, so not handled by FedEx after drop-off. Which is why FedEx reps couldn't find out anything about my package insurance. A bit stressful, so I started looking at other options. Lol long-winded answer 😅 So not saying that FedEx isn't a good option, but I had a few issues. Though, partly my own fault too.
@dwaynemarsh4094 Yes you can add more using FedEx. It's been a little while since I've gone with FedEx, but I may go go with then again sometime soon because I'm considering sending in some cards that will be more than the $1K Canada Post limit.
Great detailed video. ✊… One of my concerns was how to properly fill out the customs form. Because it’s not a gift, sale or sample…. I now know to use “other”. A quick question is to know if it’s necessary to fill out every specific card in your order ? Or could you use the description “sports cards for grading” and the number of cards included. Instead of listing every specific card and individual value… Just a thought. Thanks for the helpful video. ✌️
@tsorokopas Thanks for the positive words! 💪😀 For the Customs part, I have always taken the time to add each individual card. If you have lots of duplicates, you might save a few mins by saying you have 2, or 3 etc. But my thoughts are that I don't want any hassles on the Customs side of things. So I try to do everything in my power to make things as easy as possible for a Customs Agent. So spending extra time on this step seems worth it. I'm glad my video was helpful. Good luck with your grades! 😀🏆🚀☘🔥
Thanks for the info! One thing that was missing (or maybe I missed it) is how to properly prepare your card for shipping. I believe you shouldn’t send cards in a top loader, so what is that PSA sleeve you’re putting the cards in and where did you find them?
Hey, awesome video, great detailed explanations. Curious, how was the box packaged with the label though? Full details taped to the top of the box, including the details of the declared value?
@CardsMtl91 I put the Customs Forms and Shipping Label all inside the sticky label holder that you get from Canada Post which you stick to the outside of the box so it's easy to see/read (next time you're at the Post Office ask for extras to keep on standby). Depending on how many cards you have in the order, the info may all fit onto 1 single piece of paper with the Shipping Label. But if you have 40+ cards on the list, the Customs Form will be on a separate piece of paper. Remember to sign the Customs Form too. 🖊 Hope that makes sense 😀👍Good luck with your grades!🙏🚀🔥
So your in B.C. Ever checked on flight cost to L.A. (PSA is in Newport beach, CA) Probably just as pricy as mailing with insurance but you could hand deliver it yourself and get a trip out of it. Just sayin, especially carrying the McDavid on your person for the trip. I flew from Vancouver to LA last minute booking ,return for 300 cdn. Might be cheaper bro. Thanks for video, helps a lot.
@witsend177 Great point! 👏✈ I bet for a more high-end collector this could be a great idea. For me, I don't have enough high-end stuff to send and I tend to buy graded slabs if I do purchase. But I like your thinking. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! Good luck with your next order! 💪🔥
That happened to me too. I sold a card over ebay and sent it untracked. Sure enough the person says they never got it. Decent chance they were lying but I couldn't prove it. - $150 and a lesson for me
@wabdih Damn. That sucks to hear. 😢The hobby is full of great and honest collectors, but unfortunately there are some bad apples in the bunch too. Sorry to hear your story but thanks for sharing. 🙏💪
Great video! Very informative. Quick question though, I didnt get a customs form generated. Will that be an issue? I followdd your steps exactly. Was just wondering if that makes a difference
@ICG1of1 Hi! Thanks for watching! If you go to 14:08 in the video, I fill out the Customs info on the Canada Post website (this is where I detail each card I'm sending). Then if you got to 14:47 in the video, you'll see the example of a Customs Form that gets stuffed in with the Shipping Label. So I print out the Shipping Label, and also the Customs Form Perhaps you printed both out and actually did send a Customs Form? Or left a page in the printer? Please feel free to update. I hope it all goes well for you. 👍
Thanks for the quick response! I double checked, and filled everything out correctly. As you said, everything from the customs section is in the Shipping Label. For whatever reason, the only page that generated at the end was the shipping label. My thinking is perhaps the customs invoice is generated when you have a long list of items that can't fit on the shipping label? My order is only two cards (both slab crossovers). One last question: the instructions at the bottom of the shipping label mention a plastic envelope that you should put your shipping label into? Do you ever use one, or do you just attach it right into your box?
@ICG1of1 That makes sense to me. Your two cards were probably listed on the shipping label. I believe it's like that when I've sold single cards on eBay. For the plastic envelope, that's just the thing you get from Canada Post which holds the label and has a sticky side that sticks to your package. I always ask for extras so for my eBay sales, I can pack it all at home.
great video, helped alot! might be a stupid question but the customs form.. do i have to stick that inside the package or place on the outside along w the label? never ship anything to the states so just want to be sure, thanks!
@slippyhits9488 Yes, you'll want to put the customs slip in with the shipping label. If you ask at any Canada Post spot, they should have "label sticky bags" that you stick to your package. I always grab a bunch so I can prep at home. Then put the label and customs form all into this "transparent sticky bag". The Shipping label and address etc should be facing outwards where a Postal person can see. But then inside the customs form goes in behind, where the Customs people can look inside this bag and see the items on the list. Just FYI: Depending on how small your order is, the Customs Form and Shipping Label can be on the same piece of paper. Though if you're sending a Bulk Order, you may have more than one page. And remember to SIGN the Customs Form. 😀👍 For my first couple shipments, I walked to my local Canada Post spot and just double-checked with someone there to make sure I'm following all the proper steps. But once you do it a couple times, it will seem super simple. 💪😀 Good luck with your grades!🔥
@KMAN_CORNER Sorry late reply... I've never worked with an LCS to get stuff graded with PSA. But I've heard some stories in the US where an LCS goes bankrupt and there's a bunch of issues getting cards back etc.😱 I'm sure most LCS operators have the best intentions, but for me, I feel most comfy when I'm in control. But thanks for sharing! I like hearing about the other options we have to work with! 😀🙏💪🔥
Awesome video! Thanks so much. Quick question, so if i have cards that I want to submit that need to have different service levels because of value (less than 500, and 1500) i can put them in the same box? It just needs separate forms to go along with it? Thanks again!
@antonpuentevella4514 Yes you should be able to send it all at once. Just remember to follow the directions on filling out the proper forms for sending in multiple orders. One thing that might happen is that you have to pay return shipping for both of your orders. I had to do that when I sent in 20 regular cards and then 2 larger sized 1981 Oilers postcards. I shipped them all at once to PSA for one single cost via Canada Post, but I had to pay 2x FedEx bills to get them returned to me. Hopefully yours can be all returned to you in one shipment/cost, but just a heads up.
hey boss, awesome vid! I was curious on how to use the alternative shipping. I have a submission with 130 cards and this psa insurance is mad expensive. 162 usd.
@Alberto Woah 130 cards! That's exciting! Are you talking about using Canada Post as the alternative? With Canada Post, you can buy up to $1,000 of liability insurance for around $20 or so. But that seems to be the max. That's the only way I know how and next time I am considering splitting up my shipments and pay for two (or more) and get $2K (or more) of insurance. Hope this helps. Lemme know if you have more questions. Good luck! Exciting Stuff! 😀💪🔥 Another option could be to just book a different shipment and maybe send in less cards? Just send 50-75 of the best/faves etc and maybe $1K insurance covers and you don't pay as much? I sent 40 cards recently and I thought that order was huge and pricey to do. Anyways, just a thought.
@@hockeycardsincanada thanks for the reply! and i was talking about the return shipping methods. The psa insured shipping and then theres the alternate return shipping that requires a fedex account number or something. I rather purchase the amount of insurance i want than to pay an additional 1.25usd a card. Ps- this is 100% my biggest sub haha yet. all my other submissions are like 30 cards
@Alberto I opened up a FedEx account and shipped to PSA a couple times, but I never chose that option for return. I've always had PSA take care of it, so I don't know the cost, but I assume you'd be able to tailor it to fit your needs. It's super easy to open an account and free to do, so I'd suggest opening and see what the costs are. FYI, when I shipped with my FedEx account, I learned that when you choose the cheapest option, it ships with FedEx "GROUND" which is actually a company contracted by FedEx. I actually tried to contact FedEx to find out what insurance I had chosen (because I forgot what I had picked when I created the shipment online), I found that the person at the FedEx office couldn't tell me and they also couldn't find out that info when I called. So just be mindful if it's your first time shipping with them. The cheapest option might not be the best. Good luck to you!!! 😀🔥
@@hockeycardsincanada oh boy i used fedex ground for my biggest psa submission haha. 4k insurance tho. lets hope it makes it! goodluck with your grades too!
Hey, and thanks 4 the video. Have you had any issue with customs charging you on the declared value instead of the grading fees? Also, fellow Lower Mainlander here
@dc8376 Hey Neighbour! 👋 Thanks for watching,! And no, I have not had an issue with being charged extra. 😀👍 When my cards are returned to me by PSA, I choose for them to ship via their FedEx account (rather than set up return shipping with my personal FedEx account). I think this helps because PSA fills out the customs info so it's clear that I am not purchasing these cards, and instead, I should just be charged for their grading service. I've also read in forums that if you were to be charged on the declared value, there are ways to dispute this. But hopefully this doesn't happen. Good luck with your PSA order! 😀💪🔥🐐
@IKhanicCollector PSA charged about $46 USD and they use FedEx for this. The return is very fast. After knowing that my grades are ready, the package arrives at my door (signature required) in about 2 days.
Do tell about what happened to signed for, but LOST? Matthew Young Guns? Who was at fault? Did eBay 'coverage' kick in cause you did everything right???!?!
@Tom Wodavi It was a long process, but yes, eventually eBay stepped up and helped out. Not sure if all transactions work out like this. I'm sure they don't. But I think paying the extra for tracking info, plus keeping all correspondence on the eBay messaging platform helped. Makes me very cautious to ever sell or purchase on IG or thru FB groups.
@jeffpinder7552 Sorry, but I don't have any great tips for high-end cards. I've been nervous to send my Crosby & McDavid YGs. 😬 If you live near any of the bigger card shows that PSA is at, that might be the best way to ensure it doesn't get lost with a courier. You can at least give it directly to PSA and reduce all the extra "shipping and handling." It might even be worthwhile flying to an event just to be sure since they are Gretzky Rookies (which is super awesome by the way).🔥💪🏆🐐👏
Great video man, one thing i would like to know is do you pay the GST upon you receive the psa package back? i am new in Canada so haven't done it before, thanks !
@licyan Yup. I paid $24.50 in GST/PST for return costs in the video. Which is based on the $150 cost to grade the cards. If you scroll in the video to around 16:30 you can see the invoice that FedEx sends. Welcome to Canada and Good Luck with your PSA Shipment! If you have any more questions, just drop a comment and I'll respond as quick as I can 😀
@Adrian Bot Thanks for the positive words! 🙏😀 For shipping supplies, I don't ship a ton (PSA or eBay sales), so I just bought some padded waterproof bubble mailers, and a Do Not Bend sticker roll from Amazon. Then I reuse as much bubble wrap and cardboard etc that I get from purchases.
@Adrian Bot For boxes, I also just reuse cardboard boxes. I save a handful of "nice" ones that don't have too much sticky crap etc on them. With some packing tape, the boxes are as good as new! 😜I also cut down these boxes and use them to protect the slabs I sell on eBay. So for all of this, I try to balance ultimate protection for whatever I ship... but gather whatever I can to make it work for free and to be able to reuse things.
@tim9747 I haven't tried the Halifax PSA Service, so I don't have an opinion. For me personally, I like being in charge of my cards until I send them to PSA... but I can see why people use the Halifax Service. I think it might save a few dollars since you don't have to sign up for the membership which is more than $100 CAD I think. Another option is to bring your cards to one of the shows where PSA is in attendance. Your cards still might go through the PSA Canada systems, but that might be something for you to look into. Good luck with your order! I try to answer all questions on here, so hit me up if you have any more. 😎👋
@user-no1lx6ut5p I was only charged based on the cost to grade the cards, not the value of my cards. Near the end of the video I cover a bit about this and show an example of what I did have to pay.
@travisdecheno5670 Yes, but maybe that part of the video is a bit confusing. There's a Canada Post store inside the London Drugs near my home and that's the closest place for me to drop my package.
Thank you so much for this informative video !! I have 1 pokemon card in NM condition that I believe could be PSA 10. - if I choose the super express service (4999$ max value - 300$ price) and PSA grade my card to PSA 9... what happen after that? because the gap between a PSA 10 to PSA 9 can sometimes be a couple hundred $ difference. Should I choose a lower declare value and if PSA think my card deserve a PSA 10, they will surcharge me? I used PSA once in my life like 10 years ago... when price were WAYYYY lower lol. Thanks :)
@DzecooPs3 Thanks for your kind words! 🙏If it were me, I would go with the lower-priced option. I think as long as you're not taking advantage of the system, they shouldn't upcharge you. I would just be prepared for a possible extra charge. Good luck with your submission! I hope it's a PSA 10!!! 🔥🔥🔥
@@hockeycardsincanada If I have 2 small orders (4 cards + 2 cards on different service) can I still shipped them together ? I just need to stick both bar codes on the outside of the cardboard box?
@DzecooPs3 When shipping 2 or more orders together, there should be a special barcode you can print out for doing "combined shipping." As you complete your submission look for where PSA says "NOTE: If you are planning to ship multiple submissions in the same package, please follow the "Combine" instructions listed below." Just be aware of a few things: 1. They'll be treated like separate orders so even if they arrive at PSA at the same time, they could be graded a different times and shipped back to you at different times (so you'll still pay for 2 shipping costs). 2. Canada Post allows for max $1K insurance, so if your 2 orders are worth a lot more than $1K, it might be safer to ship separately as 2 orders so you can then have $2K insurance. Good luck! 🔥💪
@@hockeycardsincanada I keep getting back to this video to follow step by step how to ship to PSA !! it a stressful first experience lol Hope to get all PSA 10 back ! Thanks again, wish I could like this video multiple time :)
@DzecooPs3 The fact that you came back to comment just to say thanks again made my day!!! 😀🙏I'm glad I could help! I'm rooting for you to get all PSA 10s!!! 🔥🔷😀
How did customs get away with charging you PST on the grading fees? PST is only supposed to be charged on transaction done in BC. This transaction was done with someone outside BC. Isn`t them charging you PST on the fees illegal, or an "error"?
@RichardRennes Great question! 😀💪I believe the PST charges do apply here based on Low-Value Shipments for Goods Not For Sale to be processed through the Customs/Border systems. Here's a couple links if you wanna take a closer look, though you can go on a Customs Deep Dive and be swimming around looking for info for hours and hours: www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/courier/lvs-efv/tax-taxe-eng.html www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/gst-hst-businesses/charge-collect-imports-exports.html
Just a little question. When I’m done packaging my order and finalized everything to go to ship. Do I give it to the Canada post workers? Just wanna clarify thanks
@theprovider66 I live really close to the Post Office (5 min walk), so I always drop my cards off to a human. I like seeing my cards get scanned. But I've asked the workers and they say you can drop it off into a mailbox (if it fits). Good luck with your grades! 😀💪🏆
Hey, I'm also in Vancouver and about to sign up to get my non-sports cards graded but wondering why you are not going through PSA Canada? Better to go straight to the source?
@jeanpaulg9 Hello Neighbour! I've never shipped with PSA Canada, so I don't truly know what their service is like. But yes, I like to take out any middleman and have the transaction just me, PSA... and of course Canada/US Customs haha 😅
Do you get charged customs on the outgoing package to PSA? Im worried PSA will get charged a lot of money in customs and return it back to me if I declare the true amount, even if I put its returning to sender.
@mikef8072 The only Customs charges you'll need to pay are based on the cost of the grading service. If you go to 16:30 in the video, I end up paying only $24.50 CAD. On the Customs form bit at 13:30, I put "Sportscards Not For Sale - Returning to Owner" - this should let Customs Agents know that PSA is not purchasing anything from you. FYI - someone in the comments mentioned replacing the word "Sportscards" with "Photographs" which might be better for keeping any curious postal workers from peaking inside. 💪😜 When PSA returns to you, they fill out the info so you should only pay duty on the cost of your grading service fees. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and good luck with your shipment! 😀🙏🔥
@markusdowney5457 I've never had any issues paying with Visa. Could be that it's an odd online transaction that just gets declined for safety reasons. I'd contact your credit card company and see what they say. Good luck!
@RippinSportsCards98 I've never used the PSA Canada service, so I can't really comment. From what I see, they probably ship with Canada Post because the max insurance is still $1K. To be eligible for best Special Pricing, you still need to pay to be part of the PSA Collectors Club every year. I'm sure the service is great, but personally, I like being in a bit more control of my cards etc, so removing the middle-man is best for me. But I'd be curious to hear about someone's experience, so feel free to comment if you ever use PSA Canada. 😀❓✈🇨🇦
@RippinSportsCards98 You don't need a membership to send in cards to PSA, but if you pay the $150 ish price to be part of the Club, you get access to lower rates. So crunch the numbers and see if it's worth it for your submission/budget etc. I've been a member, but also let it expire because I didn't want to pay the fees every year. I sent my Bedard YGs in recently without a membership, but it was just a single card submission.
@AlwayzFresh I've never used the PSA Halifax service, so I don't know for sure, but I think they take care of it all for you. I don't think any of the grading occurs in Canada. I think after you send them cards, they do a bulk order and send the cards to California. Thanks for watching! 😀🙏
@zhaoqiang yan I don't know the answer to that. If you just recently sent a package, I would try to contact PSA to give them a heads-up and see what they say. Hope it all works out ok for you! 💪 Send me an update if you can. I'm curious to know the answer. Here's a link for contacting PSA by phone: www.psacard.com/store/t-contact.aspx
@@hockeycardsincanada Thank you for your comments !PSA official reply to these two addresses are available. But after a lot of inquiries, they still recommend sending the address of the USPS .
Sorry, just to be clear.. You paid $710cad for both your orders right? How much was custom/duty fees to get back each submission? Sorry just trying to understand. I always send to my brothers house in the u.s and make him ship it to me. I would love to just get my submissions straight back to Canada :)
@clockerzapparel3399 Hi! On my $710 CAD payment to PSA ($520 USD), you calculate the custom/duty fees by the GST and PST. I'm in Vancouver, BC so the cost for me is 12% - or roughly $85.20. You'll get taxed based on the grading fees that PSA charges you, not on the value of the cards. The example in the video around 6:34 mark, is from an order that I paid PSA $150 USD. And once you calculate the PST/GST it comes to $24.50. Hope that helps! Good luck with your next submission! 😃☘🚀🔥
@joelmcwatters7935 I have a shipping account with FedEx, so whenever I buy something that goes through customs where I have to pay duties, it gets processed through my FedEx account and I see the charges on my FedEx statement.
If your order is lost/stolen coming back from the 🇺🇸…$1000 would cover the value of the cards, but would you be refunded all the shipping and PSA grading fees?! Isn’t it better to insure with FedEx for nearly $2000 to cover all costs associated with an order?
@sportscastercanada You raise excellent points! 👏 I think insurance would only cover the value of the cards lost/damaged etc (if you win the case). My dilemma recently was trying to decide if I should use FedEx to send my Connor Bedard Young Guns. Personally, I enjoy the Canada Post experience more than using FedEx, but it's definitely a gamble going with a max $1K insurance. Thanks for the comment! 😀💪🔥
@kobejoe164 Wow! Awesome card! Congrats!!! 🤑😱💪And yes, you can definitely send in a single card. I just did that with my Bedard YGs too! 😜👍I sent it in on the 20 Day Express Turnaround. I talk a bit about stuff in this video. Scroll to the end to see my costs and thoughts on what grade I think it gets: ua-cam.com/video/osaBor4Ycmo/v-deo.html Good luck with the grade! 😀☘🚀
@sakuraclyne1 Yes they do. The office is in Nova Scotia: psacanada.ca/ They seem to have added more to the operation over the past few years. I haven't tried them, but I was crunching some numbers a couple weeks ago and I think you'd save a few bucks potentially by using their service. Personally, I like doing the DIY method, but I am tempted to try and see for myself. If I do, I will definitely make a video on my experience... though with all the damaged YGs I've pulled, I have been reluctant to do any PSA orders till QC improves. 😬🤔😢
Anyone starting to now getting charged for customs and duties on return of your grading submissions ? I sent out 400 usd in sub costs , so paid 615 with PSA , but then FEDex charged me 160 cad when after I received them through my credit , super upset if this is going to be the standard for 28 cards under bulk service , not PSA's fault but wow government has to shove there grimy hands into every thing even my own goods which I paid tax for already 😅
@dylanwilson652 Unfortunately, I think this is now the norm. 😢 I've been charged the past few times. Yup, gov't wants "their" money. 🤑😱 I don't like that Fedex charges my credit card... side note, I had a recent $650 purchase from PWCC that I had shipped to me and I get an email saying that I've been charged by Fedex to my Visa 😠 I hope you received some good grades with your PSA Bulk order! 💪🙏🔥☘😀
@asianman2032 Hi! If you go to around 16:29 in the video, I cover a bit about the Customs costs I paid on a previous order with 10 cards. But the charge isn't based on the value of my cards, it is only based on what PSA charged me for grading service fees. Thanks for watching!
This video taught me that I should have launched a card grading company 25 years ago.
@user-hm5zb1qn6g LOL! It would be a factory for printing money!!! 😅💰🚀☘
Resale value for all PSA slabs has dropped over the past couple years too, so unless you get a PSA 10 back, chances of reselling for any profit is next to impossible.
Here's a link from the PSA site about a story of a large Submitter going bankrupt:
www.psacard.com/articles/articleview/10594/official-statement-regarding-marx-cards
So being in charge of my own cards makes me feel the most secure. I do think the worst is behind us.
Thanks for sharing and best of luck with your PSA Grades!!! 😀☘🔥
Man, you’re saving many Canadian lives here
Thank you so much for sharing 🙏
@patrice4595 Haha! Glad to help! Thanks for the comment! 😀
Very good information to know when shipping to PSA. The video was well done.
Thanks for commenting Kevin!
I've answered a few questions, so you might have an answer in the comment section too.😀🔥👍
this made my life so much easier, thank you for posting
@ericperkio6871 I'm really glad to hear it helped! Thanks for taking the time to let me know. Good luck on the grades! 😀💪🔥
Great step by step video man. Thanks a lot for the help!
@Bryce Wilkinson Thanks for the feedback! Good luck! Drop a question of you get stuck along the way!
Been looking for this video. Thank you and sorry to hear about the stolen card.

The $1000 max insurance is wild
@OctopusTone Yes, hard to understand why Canada Post can't offer higher insurance. That's one of the main reasons why I sent my recent Bedard YGs on its own to get graded. Good luck with your PSA submission! 😃☘🔥👍
Thanks so much for this video, I’ll do Canada post as well. Will be my first time sending in and appreciate your time
@Luke Braddford Awesome! I'm glad my video helped. If you get stuck along the way, leave a question and I'll try my best to answer and help you out. Good luck with your future submission! 🔥💪
@@hockeycardsincanada boxed up and doing the customs form online as I type this. Thanks again.
Thanks for the informative video! For my first ever PSA submission, I'll be submitting 2 cards that are each over $1000 insurance limit through Canada Post. A bit nervous but hoping for the best!
@quincyho8713 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! And good luck with your shipment. 2x $1,000 cards sounds super exciting!!! 😀💪🔥🤑
There's a bit about Declared Value from PSA Canada site: psacanada.ca/faq/
Having a lower value listed won't save any money on Duties/Taxes, because you'll be charged based on what PSA charges you for grading (not based on value of cards) ... though I've heard higher declared values might draw the attention of postal worker thieves.
Hey great vid. I thought it was interesting that you had the scale handy, : )
@The Highlanders lol ya the scale is actually super helpful. I use it every time I ship, so they $30 it cost was well worth it!!! 😀👍
@@hockeycardsincanada LOL, I'm sure it was.
Thanks a bunch for making this video! I'm sending in my very first submission to PSA soon, so this is very informative.
@Danny Thank you for the positive words! Good luck with your 1st submission! 🔥🔥
How your submission went? 😄
@@patrice4595 actually pretty good! Got a handful of 10s out of it. I've had maybe 3 or 4 submissions now! Always fun to see what things come back as.

One day I will have to do this with some of my good cards. Tks for the information bro!!
@DAGR Cards Good luck to you! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate it! 😀🙏
Great video.. I’m not a fan of grading cards but many collectors been telling me to try it out..
Do you put the names of the cards in the declared value section? Or how do you go about it?
Thanks a bunch! :)
@ericarroyo5104 Yes, you'll have to input each individual card in the Item Description. If you go to around 13:45 in the video I show an example.
Good luck!
Great tips, love to do this one day
Amazing cards 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the positive words!
Great video, well done! Did you get any money back on that Matthews card that was supposedly "stolen".
Great video! Thanks for the help!
@ploranger I'm glad my video was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to let me know! 😀🙏 Good luck with your grades!!! ☘🚀💪
Great video thanks for the help. Does FedEx offer more insurance?
@meowza The sleeve I'm using is called a Card Saver 1. And yup, PSA recommends using them and not top loaders. www.psacard.com/info/shipguide
@@hockeycardsincanadaAh ha, thank you!
@@hockeycardsincanada thanks for the great info!
So I print out the Shipping Label, and also the Customs Form
Perhaps you printed both out and actually did send a Customs Form?
@@hockeycardsincanada ahhh gotcha! Thanks for the info!
@ICG1of1 No problem. Thanks watching! Good luck with the grades!!! 🔥💪
great video, helped alot! might be a stupid question but the customs form.. do i have to stick that inside the package or place on the outside along w the label? never ship anything to the states so just want to be sure, thanks!
For my first couple shipments, I walked to my local Canada Post spot and just double-checked with someone there to make sure I'm following all the proper steps. But once you do it a couple times, it will seem super simple. 💪😀 Good luck with your grades!🔥
Nowadays I just use the LCS who takes them for you and takes care of all the logistics
@@hockeycardsincanada fair point you just need to make sure you're using one that's been around long enough and you can trust
@KMAN_CORNER Yup someone with a long history in the biz and with a good reputation for always doing the right thing. 😀👍💪
@@hockeycardsincanada thanks so much
@antonpuentevella4514 My pleasure! Good luck with your grades!!! 😀☘🚀💪
hey boss, awesome vid!
Another option could be to just book a different shipment and maybe send in less cards?
@ValpuriHD Oh wow! I like the ability to insure for $4K 😀💪 How much did it cost? If it's reasonable I might consider that option.
When my cards are returned to me by PSA, I choose for them to ship via their FedEx account (rather than set up return shipping with my personal FedEx account).
Thanks!
@vonpatten001 Wow! Thanks!!! 🙏🏆😃🚀
How much did they charge you for return shipping?
Anyone have any tips on sending in expensive cards? Have several Topps and OPC Gretz RC’s to send in but have always been nervous to do so.
@jeffpinder7552 Sorry, but I don't have any great tips for high-end cards. I've been nervous to send my Crosby & McDavid YGs. 😬
If you live near any of the bigger card shows that PSA is at, that might be the best way to ensure it doesn't get lost with a courier.
If you have any more questions, just drop a comment and I'll respond as quick as I can 😀
@@hockeycardsincanada appreciate it man! so nice of knowing your channel!
Awesome video, very informative! What's your preferred way to get shipping supplies?
@Adrian Bot Thanks for the positive words! 🙏😀 For shipping supplies, I don't ship a ton (PSA or eBay sales), so I just bought some padded waterproof bubble mailers, and a Do Not Bend sticker roll from Amazon. Then I reuse as much bubble wrap and cardboard etc that I get from purchases.
@@hockeycardsincanada Okay, that makes sense. What about boxes for the cards you ship to PSA in?
@Adrian Bot For boxes, I also just reuse cardboard boxes. I save a handful of "nice" ones that don't have too much sticky crap etc on them. With some packing tape, the boxes are as good as new! 😜I also cut down these boxes and use them to protect the slabs I sell on eBay.
So for all of this, I try to balance ultimate protection for whatever I ship... but gather whatever I can to make it work for free and to be able to reuse things.
@@hockeycardsincanada awesome! Thanks for all your help! Just subbed to your channel
@Adrian Bot Thank you! I really appreciate it!!!
What about the Halifax PSA?
@tim9747 I haven't tried the Halifax PSA Service, so I don't have an opinion. For me personally, I like being in charge of my cards until I send them to PSA... but I can see why people use the Halifax Service. I think it might save a few dollars since you don't have to sign up for the membership which is more than $100 CAD I think.
Another option is to bring your cards to one of the shows where PSA is in attendance. Your cards still might go through the PSA Canada systems, but that might be something for you to look into.
Good luck with your order! I try to answer all questions on here, so hit me up if you have any more. 😎👋
Did u get charged duty/tax? When u get graded cards from the States????
@user-no1lx6ut5p I was only charged based on the cost to grade the cards, not the value of my cards. Near the end of the video I cover a bit about this and show an example of what I did have to pay.
good video, but isn't it just so much easier to just pack the box and go to canada post directly??
@DzecooPs3 When shipping 2 or more orders together, there should be a special barcode you can print out for doing "combined shipping." As you complete your submission look for where PSA says "NOTE: If you are planning to ship multiple submissions in the same package, please follow the "Combine" instructions listed below."
Just be aware of a few things:
Good luck! 🔥💪
@@hockeycardsincanada I keep getting back to this video to follow step by step how to ship to PSA !! it a stressful first experience lol
Hope to get all PSA 10 back !
Here's a couple links if you wanna take a closer look, though you can go on a Customs Deep Dive and be swimming around looking for info for hours and hours:
www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/courier/lvs-efv/tax-taxe-eng.html
www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/gst-hst-businesses/charge-collect-imports-exports.html
I got screw by them, they damaged my cards during the process and not responsible for them@@hockeycardsincanada
When PSA returns to you, they fill out the info so you should only pay duty on the cost of your grading service fees.
Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and good luck with your shipment! 😀🙏🔥
Thx help a lot
@derickperreaultstamand2877 Great to hear! Thanks for taking the time to leave the comment! 😀🙏Good luck with your grades! ☘
ever hear of debit or credit card not working when paying? thats my only issue now frig
@markusdowney5457 I've never had any issues paying with Visa. Could be that it's an odd online transaction that just gets declined for safety reasons. I'd contact your credit card company and see what they say. Good luck!
hi man, do you have to pay duty/customs etc ? thanks
@akmn4505 Yes, I pay a fee based on the cost of grading... but not on the value of my cards. 👍I show an example later on in this video.
Hey I know I’m watching this way later then u made the post but is it worth it to us psa Canada website?
@RippinSportsCards98 I've never used the PSA Canada service, so I can't really comment. From what I see, they probably ship with Canada Post because the max insurance is still $1K. To be eligible for best Special Pricing, you still need to pay to be part of the PSA Collectors Club every year.
I'm sure the service is great, but personally, I like being in a bit more control of my cards etc, so removing the middle-man is best for me. But I'd be curious to hear about someone's experience, so feel free to comment if you ever use PSA Canada. 😀❓✈🇨🇦
@@hockeycardsincanada Thanks and do u need a membership for the collectors club to send in a submission?
@RippinSportsCards98 You don't need a membership to send in cards to PSA, but if you pay the $150 ish price to be part of the Club, you get access to lower rates. So crunch the numbers and see if it's worth it for your submission/budget etc. I've been a member, but also let it expire because I didn't want to pay the fees every year.
I sent my Bedard YGs in recently without a membership, but it was just a single card submission.
Do you need to do this if you are submitting to PSA in Halifax Canada?
@AlwayzFresh I've never used the PSA Halifax service, so I don't know for sure, but I think they take care of it all for you. I don't think any of the grading occurs in Canada. I think after you send them cards, they do a bulk order and send the cards to California. Thanks for watching! 😀🙏
Good video! If I have sent it to psa fedex address by canada post, will there be any problem?
@zhaoqiang yan I don't know the answer to that. If you just recently sent a package, I would try to contact PSA to give them a heads-up and see what they say. Hope it all works out ok for you! 💪 Send me an update if you can. I'm curious to know the answer.
Here's a link for contacting PSA by phone: www.psacard.com/store/t-contact.aspx
@@hockeycardsincanada Thank you for your comments !PSA official reply to these two addresses are available. But after a lot of inquiries, they still recommend sending the address of the USPS .
@zhaoqiang yan I'm glad to hear your cards will arrive to PSA! And good luck with your grades too! 🙏Hopefully lotsa 10s! 🔥
When did you receive that fed ex receipt???
@joelmcwatters7935 The FedEx receipt in the video says Jan 2023
Sorry, I meant to say during what process did you receive a fed ex receipt if you used can post/USPS
@@hockeycardsincanada If KSA was revered as PSA, we’d be in heaven! 🤣
@sportscastercanada Haha love it! That would be soooo much better! 🙏🤑😜
Thanks for the info, is it ok just to sent one card? I got a young gun Conor bedard 451, thanks 🙏
Scroll to the end to see my costs and thoughts on what grade I think it gets: ua-cam.com/video/osaBor4Ycmo/v-deo.html
Good luck with the grade! 😀☘🚀
@@hockeycardsincanada thanks man I hope 🤞 I get psa 10 😉, I’m a New subscribers thanks🇨🇦❤️🏒 watching from Saskatoon.
@kobejoe164 Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to comment, watch, and subscribe! Let's hope we both get PSA 10s!!! 🏆☘🚀😀
I thought psa has a station here in canada ?
🤑😱 I don't like that Fedex charges my credit card... side note, I had a recent $650 purchase from PWCC that I had shipped to me and I get an email saying that I've been charged by Fedex to my Visa 😠
I hope you received some good grades with your PSA Bulk order! 💪🙏🔥☘😀
Do you paid customer fees ?
@asianman2032 Hi! If you go to around 16:29 in the video, I cover a bit about the Customs costs I paid on a previous order with 10 cards.
But the charge isn't based on the value of my cards, it is only based on what PSA charged me for grading service fees. Thanks for watching!
Ouch that sucks. Can't trust anybody these days unfortunately
