    I've always been told with the assumption it was correct that a bar tread tire run in reverse fashion held its line on a slope better than running it forward direction. We run all our side dump carts with bar tread in reverse. Wonder if you had ever heard that reasoning before.

      I have ...but then I've heard they plug with mud worse - something about the way the bar flexing the rubber sheds the stuck on mud ... back in the 90s they told guys that it wore longer ...who knows if there's any truth to any of it

    Excellent project! It would be interesting to see a cost comparison once done, of buying the original planter, building this one vs just buying a new similar 1745 (or whatever is most comparable). Then maybe or maybe not, the time factored in of putting together the plan, ordering, sourcing, and putting together the puzzle. Keep up the great work, it will be time to be planting before we know it!

    How you lift the inner rows when you are planting corn? Or you just leave them down without seed?

      There is a lock out arm on the side that holds them up, so they are disengaged from the ground... thansk for watching and for askign!

      Thank you! .... this is just a second planter (the small planter) ... the big (main) planter is a 16/31 .... we plan to cover about 40 to 60 acres a day with this planter is all ...usually planting goes on 7 to 10 days today - it will greatly help on smaller fields and places like that ... being a high speed toolbar - should help productivity levels

    Planning on not running row cleaners?

    • @Blackearthexcavationandtiling
      @Blackearthexcavationandtiling  Рік тому

      I need to do something for row unit tillage.... not sure what to do yet ..ultimately I'd like air adjust residue managers - but time we add the compressor and everything needed it's quite a bit of money ... the planters just going to run soybeans this upcoming year - so I don't know quite what to do - possible a coulter with a ripple blade only and no residue managers (?) ...

      @@Blackearthexcavationandtiling As a zero till guy, row cleaners are just in the way, and they wrap up. After planting, I put on the dawn roller crimpers and actually use the planter to terminate with the row units serving as weight, out of the ground. Once I went to 30/90 CTF, my 60’ roller crimper became obsolete. It’s for sale.
      Nothing OEM works for me. Are you putting a 6000 on the planter and the planter and a steerable hitch?

    • @LtColDaddy71
      @LtColDaddy71 Рік тому

      Innner plants? You are going outside the box! I love it. I just did 20” across the whole farm. It seems like the perfect compromise, and the corn rows close off quicker as well.
