I bought it locally(Egypt) but local prices tend to match the global market so I think the price is okay. @@HaisteComputerRepair what about the Core i5-8365U in the T490? I thought the difference was only in the clock speed but then I found out it came from a newer 'Lake' (idk what this is), the 8365U comes from Whiskey Lake while the 8250U/8350U comes from Kaby Lake. What does it mean?
The different "lakes" refers to a different generation (or in this case, revision) in CPU. An i5 8365u will outperform an i5 8350u by a little bit (check benchmarks). In my experience, what matters a lot too is how good the CPU cooler is, since thermal throttling can really harm performance. For example I had a T480s with an i5 8350u which outperformed an i7 8550u in an x380 simply because of the better heatsink in the T480s.
Depends most on whether you will use more than two cores - four has become the baseline now, verging on six for the newest platforms. Win10 support ends in 2025, too.

T480s would be the best investment, largely due to the advantage of a quad core i5 or i7 CPU.
thank you, then the t480s is the best choice. any adea about L14?
@@rafikelgharbi588Which generation are you looking at?
8th
@@rafikelgharbi588 8th gen? I don't think the L14 is past 4 generations. There is 1, 2, 3, and 4th gen L14

I want to buy a thinkpad T480s i7 8550U 24gb 256gb sdd. what do you think? Is it still a good laptop for 2023?
What are you looking to use a laptop for?
@@HaisteComputerRepair program, study and play
@@eunaodissenada6047 It's a great laptop for general use and work tasks. I used one this last year as a daily driver. Gaming will have to be on the low end, but you might have already expected that.
Thank you for the video. I looked on some marketplace sites for second-hand laptop shopping and found a T480s with a Core i5-8250U instead of i5-8350U like in your video, do you think the 8350U gives significant performance improvement over the 8250U or is there any difference at all between the two?
I would judge the difference is negligible, but faster clock speeds is always a plus coming from the same generation of CPU's
Cool
😎
That can be coded on it
It can be used for coding/learning how to code, sure.
@@HaisteComputerRepair thanks 😊
40GB works forT480s
do you think I should get the 16gb version amazon refurbished? I need it for school and won’t play any games just basic apps like excel.
Heck yeah, if it's a good deal.
Dell 7490 vs t480s ?
lol same
i have both
7490 wins fr
@@AIRDROPHUNTER101 why?
you can get a t460 for even cheaper and for lots of people its just as good. the t480 is one of the best thinkpads IMO
Agreed, for general use and then some.
Depends most on whether you will use more than two cores - four has become the baseline now, verging on six for the newest platforms. Win10 support ends in 2025, too.
@@TheGreenReaper Within the refurbished laptop market I work in, we are starting to see more 4 core i5 and i7 options surfacing with the T480/T490.
How about valorant or genshin impact, does it play smoothly?
I would think that on lower settings and lowered resolution, yes.
@@HaisteComputerRepair owhh okeyy then,thank uu

Light gaming or retro gaming, sure. Even with the version with dedicated NVIDIA MX150 graphics
Hello, asus x515JA i5 10th gen ₹27500 and thinkpad t480 i5 8250u ₹27500 which one of these would you suggest for coding?.please replay🙏
Either one would work just fine. I would choose the ThinkPad for it's build quality and keyboard that is nice to type on.

@@HaisteComputerRepair I think I will go for thinkpad t480. t480 is available for a little less than what I mentioned. I am in India and it will be difficult to buy from you in India.
which is better thinkpad t470s or thinkpad t480s for gaming?
With just integrated graphics and no dedicated GPU, you'll have a small advantage with the 4 core 8 thread CPU in a T480s.
Can i use it in 2025 ?
💯
bought a t480, is the i5 8250u a sufficient cpu?
Probably just a hair slower than the i5-8350U CPU in this video :) Just make sure you have enough RAM and it should be nice.
Hello! Thanks for the review, I would like to ask if it can run Valorant? As its the only game I consistently play and I am planning to switch from PC to laptop because of the mobility it provides
It would, but at lower resolution and lower settings. If you look for a laptop with a dedicated GPU this will benefit you greatly. This will of course be more money, but if your main goal is gaming, even with Valorant, it will help to have the added power.
Bruh bro use linux
Brother bro bruh, definitely use Linux if you feel compelled to my guy.
Can I play GTA5?
Yes I'm playing also GTA The Trilogy On It, A Good Laptop I Tell U but I'm using I7 With 16GB Ram, uHD Graphics 620
as the other person stated, yes but with lowered resolution. I tested it on a T480: ua-cam.com/video/QiOOIy3Y_8U/v-deo.htmlsi=ju1RtH1PeswwLWjJ
Crypto trading on this posibl3?
I imagine so, though I have no experience with that at all. I have sold this laptop to people who monitor the stock market.
These renewed ThinkPads r giving problems in long-run, please do not encourage,
By seeing videos I bought t470, it's giving anew problem every month
It may be helpful to preface your comment with your actual experience and then open a discourse as to what's happening or how it could be made better. Otherwise your comment is not really helpful to anyone, especially those who are less savvy with technology. Any brand laptop can have the chance to not perform as expected. Sorry your experience wasn't great, but I would judge you are in the minority as ThinkPads have been some of the most durable laptops I have ever used or sold.

Hi
I am planning to buy a T480S with 16 GB of Ram and 512 GB SSD. I am only going to use it for the office packages and for Autocad 2021, I think it is advisable to buy it as they tell me, because my budget is short.
