I miss the Spin Doctors. I miss the days I lived in Washington State it would go to a bar in Spokane Washington and watch them play listen to them play and dance until the last song was played. I miss them and I miss the days. Shelley
Shelly, when did they play here in Spokane? IDR....know they were popular on radio here....don't remember them touring here...think they were part of a lineup that played the Gorge....94? Lollapalooza maybe?
Saw these guys open up for Blues Traveler in the fall of 1992 at Ithaca College in New York. My buddy was a freshman there, and I was visiting from one of the SUNY universities. It was a wild show, they were incredible live, with the bass and clean tone guitar absolutely blowing me away. There was no doubt these guys would blow up shortly, and they did. As a funny aside, my friend's roommates were approached after the show by Chris Barron. He was wandering the campus, asking where he could score some pot lol. Super nice guy, great memories of the early 90s)).
One of their very best. Turn It Upside Down is a great rock and roll record, it may take a couple of spins for it to click with you but once it does it certainly stays with you. Lot of really good stuff from this record.
Music is amazing, how hearing a song can bring us back to a time in our lives long past. Summer ‘94 I believed to my core that anything was possible and I could accomplish anything. Now 27 years later, I hear this song and I think back nostalgically and admire that young man and wish I still felt that way.
I agree Steve. In my 50’s now I am amazed at how fast the last 30 years have flown by. Wish I had accomplished more of the dreams I had as a young man.
Thought it was a great, solid song. About as strong as their first singles: Lil Miss n 2 princes...what happened? CD sales dropped from 5 to 1 million...n this song went to #42... not even Top 40? Huh....?
Having been by that old bank tower, I'm inclined to wonder why you feel so strong. You can't have really seen the hour If you think she's trying to do you wrong. I see you got that lump in your throat I hear you mumbling, "That's all she wrote." Love was in the next room drinking antidote. You ought to know that girl by now. She'll never settle down anyhow. You let your heart go too fast. You let your heart go too fast. Broken glass turns back to flint and sand. I only cease to love as love demands. As you know it takes a while to clap those Fragments from your idle hands. Coupe months could dru a sea of tears, Leave only salt beneathour dried up piers. We won't believe we cared, I swear, in a couple years. You ought to know that girl by now. She'll never turn you down anyhow. You let your heart go too fast. You let your heart go too fast. You ought to know that girl by now. She'll never settle down anyhow. You let your heart go too fast. You let your heart go too fast. If time heals all wounds, don't you know that Time also deals them. The days go by, and everybody fells them. We struggle with our fates, But our action only seals them. They say that murder ain't the fault of the weapon. I'm smoking sad to be the gun. I want to blow you all away, but I don't want to put no Bullets into anyone. I see the feathers that enfringe your heart. I see the blood ooze from around the dart. Cupid spites the sense that keeps two Mismatched souls apart. You ought to know that girl by now. She'll never settle down anyhow. You let your heart go too fast. You let your heart go too fast.

This was a great summer of 1994 song...happier times. Yep, Chris looks like Layne Staley's bruh. 94 AIC tried a more pep song with No Excuses, but Spin Docs take it with this song....

I was working in radio at this time, and I don't think the musical climate had changed too much yet. Barenaked Ladies had big hits in the late 90s, and Spin Doctors would have been right at home beside those tunes. I think this could have been a bigger hit if they had made it the first single off the record, but it was the fourth single, after Cleopatra's Cat, a cover of Have You Seen the Rain, and Mary Jane, which are all considerably weaker, at least when it comes to getting radio play. Since they were a jam band along the lines of Blues Traveler and Dave Matthews Band, perhaps they were deliberately trying to not get too pigeonholed into the "Two Princes" mold, and prove that they had more to offer... but it's pretty clear that radio audiences didn't want those other offerings. So the Spin Doctors were stuck with the difficult task of doing the same thing as before, but doing it differently enough to still be interesting. That said, this song does exactly that. It did almost make the top 40 of the Hot 100, and it got into the top ten on the rock charts, making it their biggest hit since Two Princes. Their previous two singles didn't chart in the US at all, so you could possibly see this as a bit of a comeback.... but it was the last single from the album. There wasn't anything else with this much radio potential on that record, and I think their guitar player left right around this time as well, so that probably killed any momentum they had left.
I liked most of their hits, but they were some of my least favorite. They had a lot of amazing, underrated songs during their run that never saw the radio.
One of the most underrated voices of 90's alternative rock!
He can sing really good. I tried to sing this song and its hard af
There is just no way to listen to a Spin Doctors song without smiling. You can be having a bad day, push play and you just smile a little.

My favourite Spin Doctors album
Spin Doctors told all alternative rock fans "You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast". It is hard not to when listening to this thirty year old song.

I know there was a huge drop in their popularity but I always liked this song
Song is ok but I love the video (then and now)

Very uplifting music, in the morning before a sucky day
This song is definitely underrated in their oeuvre. I remember this tune, reminds me of being young in the 90s!
Saw these guys with Gin Blossoms and Cracker at William and Mary.

Wow every girl's dream come to true... the key to the drummer of the Spin Doctors apartment.
