Maybe the person who thinks unconventionally and believes firmly to not follow the herd mentality does not get hugely impacted by tribalism unless the odds are against them. They will either be the ones directing the tribe or choose to be ostracised to form one of their own. Obviously not everyone can do that because of different priorities. So what I think is people choose to stay in tribal thinking depending upon their needs from life.
