I don’t know why I go anywhere but this channel when looking for information about these topics. I could have saved so much time by referring to my favorite UA-cam Lawyer!😊
Thank you so much for the excellent explanation of exactly what I was looking for. I recently formed an LLC and then four d/b/a’s under the LLC. since I was operating and branding specialty services. After viewing your video, I feel I did everything right. I appreciate your time making this presentation. Thank you!
Hello, great video just like the other ones on your channel. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE: I have more than 30 years of Accounting experience. It is a good practice for ALL businesses, including sole proprietorships, to have their own bank accounts. If the business owner uses their personal bank account for business expenses, then they would need to go through all of the transactions every month to let their bookkeeper, accountant or tax preparer know which transactions are business vs. personal. That's called comingling funds, and that's definitely a NO-NO. Please talk to the team that does your monthly accounting.☺☺☺Other than that, great content. Thanks!
Aiden covers all that in her other videos. The personal never mingles. What she's discussing here is comingling of DBA accounting and bank accounts or not is your personal choice. Doesn't sound good to me, but she says it's all LLC business, so it's not legally required. Her content was 100% great since she never went where you thought you heard her go. Good news, right? Been following her for a long time and she never steers me wrong. Just adding a couple DBAs under my LLC today and had to check here, first!
Super helpful, addressed every question I had. Def using a DBA instead of renaming my LLC. We simply expanded our product offerings and this seems much easier.
Not going to lie, I was skeptical about watching this video through to the end, but I'm glad I did. This answered several questions that I just. Thanks!
I really appreciate your concise breakdown of LLC's and DBA's - much appreciated! You've explained it so nicely and this is critical info for anyone starting their own business ventures.
Video starts at 00:43 Welcome back everyone! thank you for the support! don't forget: we don't need to ask anyone to be liked! it should happen naturally :) enjoy!
Thank you for the information. We are branching out one of our services under a different name to cover more Google maps. You definitely cleared some things up and we will be filing a DBA for this. Thank you again.
I’m an online fitness coach moving from Louisiana to Texas. Have been going through so many videos trying to figure out the proper thing to do. Wanting to get into videos too in the new state.
Aiden, you really do an excellent job at unfolding the layers of setting up a business. I have listened to many other youtubers discuss this subject matter. But you are bar far the best I have heard. I really finally understand how and why I can or should use a dba......thank you so much.
So the LLC is the parent company and the dba is the offspring of the company and the parent is legally responsible for the offspring in the business? So since it is one entity are you only allowed a line of funds for the parent company or could you get a line of funds in the dba name
Great information as always! THANK YOU! When It comes to the Business Insurance do I need to have one Business policy for the LLC and a separate one for the DBA? Or, do I only need one policy that protects both? Thank you so much 🙏❤
Very well explained.....If your legal business name is Tax services and you teach and tutor and sell tickets part time, can you frame it. ...Tax services. Dba teaching and tutoring or Tax Services dba teaching, dba tutoring, dba travel agent. Many thanks for your help!!
Great information - particularly that you can have multiple DBAs under one LLC of a different name. It would be nice to know if it is possible to sell off one of the DBAs as a business to another entity or should it become a separate LLC before that transfer -- what would be the benefit either way?
Great video thank you.The one thing you did not address in the video that I have a question about is whether people can write checks to a business DBA name. My business will start using a DBA soon but will my clients be able to write a check to the DBA name or is that not a thing
I have an LLC set up and have created a DBA for that LLC, does that mean I can do business under both names? For example my LLC is Urban Envey 365 LLC and my DBA is FitHealth Arena LLC, these names target different markets, so can I operate under both names targeting different markets?
If I register my additional DBA under my already established LLC, can I use the same bank account as my LLC and funnel all funds there to help make accounting easy?
I have same question, bank is telling me to open a different account as money is coming from different avenues of business, different naics code! Someone in similar situation?
@Omar following too! I heard that banks might freeze your account if funds coming from different types of business! And this is called comingling funds.
Hi, great video! I’ve been searching and couldn’t find any good examples with the issue I’m currently having, however, watching your video was great and informative! I’m hoping you can assist with a question regarding completing the W9 for a DBA under an LLC. When I complete the W9, do I need to include the primary LLC name with the DBA name. For example, on line 2 of the W9, would I enter ABC Co. LLC DBA 123 Health, or would I just enter the DBA...123 Health? Thank You.
We own a carpet cleaning company and are expanding to restoration. So if my S-Corp LLC is Orlando carpet cleaning and I want to do a dba of Orlando carpet cleaning and restoration, what do I list under my contracts for clients? Can I use “Orlando carpet cleaning and restoration?” On the contracts I have clients sign? Which brings up the question - if my general liability insurance is for Orlando carpet cleaning, do I need them to change it to match the dba name, or can I have client contracts for the dba name and still be covered under my original Orlando carpet cleaning insured name? Thank you for your help!
Thank you for the information, I just registered today, do I have to wait till I receive the paperwork from the secretary of state before opening a bank account or getting my DUNS# Etc, thanks again
I am confused. WHen you're signing something as a DBA how willt hey know that it's an LLC? Is it up to them to look it up? If your marketing material doesn't list LLC, how will they know. Can a LLC just use the name of the business minus the LLC part? And if so, do they need to register that as a DBA. "Ex: Maple Lollipop LLC". Can they just sign as Maple Lollipop (dropping the LLC part without getting a DBA)
This is very helpful. So for one providing professional services (such as professional counseling) name John Smith; but practicing under the title, Reach For The Stars Therapy, would it be best to make Reach For The Stars Therapy the LLC or would it be better to make John Smith, LPC the LLC "doing business as Reach For The Stars Therapy?
Can you do a video on how to expand a llc into a small franchise? For example, I own a beauty salon and I have people who would like to open up separate salons but using the same name, logo , trademark etc.
Great video as usual-- Question -- For a food labeling, can I use my state registered dba/assumed name/trade name (NOT the Trademark) as the 'Distributed by...', without the official company name? Or do I need to put both my official company name along with the dba name? For instance, I would like put "distributed by DBA NAME, and address." This would leave out my official company name on the package label. -OR- would I need to put "Official Company Name dba BRAND NAME, address". 21CFR101.5 (B) and (C) FDA guidance is not clear on this. We are hoping to distribute nationally so would like to get this right before investing in buying packaging inventory. Thanks in advance for any advice you could provide on this.
Hi! So we have our business name and it’s registered as a LLC. It’s apparel and crafts items. We want to add a candle line and a men’s hair product line. We just want the names separate from the main business name. Example “the candle room” by “Main street drive” do we just pay to have it trade name without having to register it as a”DBA”? I also have insurance for the candle business and skin care products.
Thank you so much! I have a question, if I have an LLC as Jzianna Studio and a dba as a Wave, but I also want a different personal name, tsudonym or nickname to protect my personal name in that business, do I file a separate dba for this name?
Great video! Quick question... When tax season arrives, do you use the LLC EIN number and the LLC name on tax forms? Or the LLC EIN number and the DBA name on the tax forms?
What about a DBA for an out-of-state LLC in lieu of foreign filing when trying to retain anonymity for real estate? For example, if "Mondo's Condo's LLC" of WY either wanted to acquire or rent property out-of-state using a DBA of "Robert Smith" and wanted to take title and/or receive all rent payments as "Robert Smith"? If renting/doing business, that requires registering in the state where that business transacts, yes (let's say MI)?...but would that DBA suffice? What is the best option for the owner of "Mondo's Condo's LLC" to remain anonymous in MI and be able to DBA "Robert Smith?"
If Jane Doe from San Jose wanted to get a DBA for her coffee business, does she need to use "Jane Doe DBA Seaside Coffe Co." on her products? Or can she just use Seaside Coffee Co.? Thanks for the vid!
Do you know if the insurance from my LLC would cover the DBA? for instance Frank LLC does concrete but also wants to do framing so he opens up a dba under frank framing would the General contractor accept the LLCs insurance for both and write checks to both the LLC and DBA? Thanks
Thank you so much for answering so many questions! When it comes to trademarks, would you need to trademark the actual LLC or can you trademark one of the DBA's?
Thank you for this info, I've found many of your videos helpful! I'm stuck on something in regard to my husband's single member LLC. We are planning on upgrading our small golf cart repair business to a dealership. The course required for dealer licensing in NC requires a DBA or assumed business name registration proof. We have what is called a reserved corporate name but have not registered any DBA forms. My husband would like for me to attend and manage the dealer side of his business. Since I am not technically a member of the LLC, what would be the best way to accomplish this registration? Should I file as though the LLC is DBA my name or would it be better to register a whole new section of the LLC for the dealership? I would GREATLY appreciate any info you can share. Keep up the awesome work!
Great video! So If your corporation does have another business under a DBA, do you have to pay yourself from both businesses (2 separate checks) or just from the main corporation (1 check)?

Just came upon this video and it clarifies so much for me thank you
This was right on time. Thank you so much.
Thank You so much for being 'transparent'. At this time, I know what to state on my website, operating under an LLC.
Excellent explanation I just filed a trade name for my LLC
My name is Sarah Jon, and i was momentarily shook when you first spouted Sarah Johnson 🤣
Thank you for the information. We are branching out one of our services under a different name to cover more Google maps. You definitely cleared some things up and we will be filing a DBA for this. Thank you again.
I really appreciate this information. I was a little confused about it and wanted to make sure i will be using the DBA the right way
Thank you
Thank you for answering all of my questions about a DBA. 😁

This video clarified my understanding. Thanks a million.
You are amazing, I learn soooooo much from you. You are a great conductor, communicator, love it.
So the LLC is the parent company and the dba is the offspring of the company and the parent is legally responsible for the offspring in the business? So since it is one entity are you only allowed a line of funds for the parent company or could you get a line of funds in the dba name
GREAT QUESTION
I do my funding through the parent company, the established LLC, not the DBA name.

Thank you for clarifying the use of a DBA
This was so informative. How many DBAs can you have under your LLC?
I currently have a DBA with an EIN in California but no LLC. I'm planning on now getting an LLC so who do i link my current DBA to a new LLC?
