This is horrid! Thank you for sharing this story, as hard as it is to hear, it's important to tell. We need action to make changes.

For sexual predators, the most fertile hunting grounds are churches, and schools. Churches especially because there you have people willing to cover up your actions, so as not to hurt the image of the church. I went to a Christian boarding school, the perfect hunting grounds for a sexual predator.

A gut-wrenching - but nonetheless necessary - episode to watch.

I would recommend anyone with children to put them in a public or non religious private school. If there is abuse you will have more legal options. I was fortunate in my years at a Catholic school to never be physically abused but, the psychological abuse inflicted was bad enough. The Catholic Church is a centuries old power structure that abused its mission of Christ in place of what the Church wanted. The HBO series "The Borgias" shows a perfect example of that. This abuse is another reason why their influence continues to wane as well as the abundance of historical and theological scholars who separate fact from dogma on the internet. My thanks to you all for providing your inside into this matter.

The clergy who are in your paper are ONLY the ones we know about. There are hundreds of thousands of victims whose stories we will never know about. people don't realize how many hundreds of enablers there are who either don't believe the victims or who witness the abuse and remained silent. In the book Losing my religion a priest walked in on his fellow priest abusing( too nice a word should be called SODOMY and RAPE) he said he would report it. The priest was months from retirement and he had to sue the Roman Catholic church to get his retirement.

The TV show dreamland made a joke about that. They went to hell to rescue a friend. The main character open the book of death and said “there’s an awful lot of popes In here” lol

The FBI and Polk County Sheriff's should investigate sexual misconduct within the catholic church.

The so-called Christian nations are the most enlightened and progressive...but in spite of their religion, not because of it. The Church has opposed every innovation and discovery from the day of Galileo down to our own time, when the use of anesthetic in childbirth was regarded as a sin because it avoided the biblical curse pronounced against Eve. And every step in astronomy and geology ever taken has been opposed by bigotry and superstition. The Greeks surpassed us in artistic culture and in architecture five hundred years before Christian religion was born.

Peter Isley, you mentioned that within the Catholic Church that it is possible to be both a priest and a pedophile. But the old testament specifies many situations where a person becomes unclean and needs to be cleansed before they can return to the community.
Is there precedent in the Bible for the view that is a priest commits pedophilia and performs some priestly sacrament without being cleansed of the sin, that the priest did not perform it properly and it does not count? A false baptism, false wedding, false last rights? Would the transubstantiation to occur when such an impure priest pretends to do it in the mass?

Ah! Excellent point! Sure it's all supernatural make-believe, but this angle could help get the point across because it's playing it by their own logic, posing the challenge within their fictional setting, in-canon, so to speak, so the fandom can't dismiss it.
