- WELL WELL, today we will testing two different lenses but also they are kinda the same.... Voigtlander Color Skopar in both LTM and M mount.
We will determine if they are different or super duper similar... ALSO

The lens coatings have been improved with the M mount, and that is why there is a difference in the colours, shadows, sharpness, and flares. But the LTM should produce some nicer B&W images, much like the older single-coated lenses.
I definitely feel thats but I’m quite fond of the LTM coding for color.
They both produce pretty different but awesome images

Wasn't expecting the difference to be so noticeable. That said some shots it was a lot harder to tell the difference between lenses whilst others were really obvious.

Have you shot with the 50mm Nokton f/1.5 II? I picked one up a year ago, and it's a knockout - maybe the only two lenses I will own for my M6 for the foreseeable future. New Voigtlander glass is really impressing me.

Did you take into account lens coatings? That could explain the contrast in the voightlander. For about $15 you can get a ltm to m adapter. I don’t have deep pockets so most of my m mount lenses are ltms. I’d love to see a comparison between the canon 50mm 1.4 ltm and the Leica 50mm summilux, and for fun, why not the voightlander 75mm f2.5 ltm and leicas 75mm f2 asph.

I have the first gen of the LTM. It has a focusing knob rather than a tab, and came with a lens hood. It’s a great little lens. Currently using it on my Nikon Z7ii.

I've spent a lot of time comparing different camera bodies and almost no time comparing lenses. Like sure I understand aperature, focal length, etc. but I really don't know where to start with lenses so thank you for sharing. Also, please keep doing lens comparisons. All of my information comes from the internet so I need more content like this!

If I had to guess, if you flashlight tested that LTM lens it'll have some haze on the aperture adjacent lens surfaces.
Fuck yeah …. A little haze never hurt no one 😛
there seems to be another color skopar 35mm 2.5 lens. I got silver one for LTM, which i adapted on my M6, which seems to be a different shape. It also has a focus "knob" which i really enjoy using. completly different than these two though.

Interesting the difference in characteristics between the two lenses.
Maybe the coating on the color of the flare? But the sharpness is, idk . .
I know the 35 on my M3 blooms like crazy, like a pro-mist-bloom filter it’s nuts.

I have the SC Skopar for my Contax IIa and Bessa S2C. I think it's single-coated rather than multi-coated. But when shooting with film, I don't see much difference on the images when compared with those from the Leica Summicron.

I have two Voightlander ltm lenses, the 21mm f4. Color Skopar and the 25mm f4 Snapshot Skopar. Both wonderful compact wides. To complete my wide collection, I'm going to get a 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar C. (I appreciate your look at these Voightlander lenses.)🙏👍🌟🌟🌟☕

I like the lack of contrast and perspective haze on the LTM better. Really brings out the LA smog in a 90's Tarantino film sorta way

I had the 35mm f/2.5 P II in M mount and it was probably my favorite lens when I had an M Mount camera.
If you can find it the Color-Skopar 28mm f/3.5 LTM has a reputation for being an incredible lens (I'm not sure if you're a fan of the 28mm focal length.) Also the Color-Skopar 50mm f/2.5 is an excellent lens.
Those are some good options! I do like a 28 mm lens. I’ve been looking for one for a while now. Should I be turned off by the 3.5?
@@BadFlashes I wouldn't be but I regularly shoot with a Nikon 28mm f/3.5 so I'm used the slightly slower aperture. It seems to be a pretty hard to find lens though.

Funny enough I have A Color Skopar 50mm 3.5 that is built into my Voightlander Vitessa and that lens compares nearly 1 to 1 to your 35mm. older Voightlander lenses might just have that green/cyan cast as a feature. Fuji film stocks might pare really well with it!

Got the ltm version as well, although i dont own a rangefinder camera anymore but use it with an adapter on my fuji! The ltm version is nicer looking than the m version imo, not that it matters much.. who am I kidding, it matters.

That steering wheel needs some refurbishing! As somebody with OM-1 and ETRS, never having the cash to obtain such cameras, I still enjoy your approach to everything Caleb, my man. So I stayed until the end. Also, you take showers. +1.

They are very similar in operation, but the bessa is not built to the same standards as a leica M obviously, and the rangefinder is not as accurate, but in rangefinder terms the bessa is phenomenal value. I sold my R after coming to terms with my GAS. Prices are climbing so buy one while you can!

at the 8+ min. mark, my first thought was a saying my grandma's friend, who passed a bit ago, used to say about her other friend: "she's dumber than a box of rocks" she also used to say "dumber than a box of hair" anyway, boy o boy, I just don't know, I think I would go with the ltm. I kind of just like ltm lenses more....don't really know why....perhaps it's just a kind of allure, the options,the price, and I like some softness from time to time. who doesn't? great video Caleb!!! thanks for doing the work.

@@BadFlashes I got the C version of the 35 mm Colar Skopar and a 50mm Jupiter-8 f2.0. The Jupiter-8 was relatively cheap on ebay.

Did you find a focusing tab for the LTM lens? I jsut picked one up and find myself bumping the aperture when I focus
yeah I got one from 7Artisans ... but It is rubber... so not the same feel ... but still works

iirc Voightlander intentionally made 2 versions of the color skopar, an SC and MC version. SC for single coated, MC for multi coated.

Are you using a lens hood on both lenses when shooting, or are you using one lens with hood and one without? That's a variable you haven't addressed. You clearly show yourself walking around with both cameras, one with hood and one without. You think that may have something to do with the flaring you see in the LTM images??? And if you may choose to use Black and White film in your Bessa with LTM lens, does it really matter if the shadows look cooler compared to the M-mount version?
That’s a good point. But in this case I don’t think so especially since I’m not directly pointing the camera at the sun for most of them. Especially if you look at the one down that ally way type street.
But definitely valid. My lens hood didn’t come in time or I would have put it in tho

My experience of the CV Bessas is they are a lot less rugged than say an M2. DAMHIKIJK.😊
They are definitely less rugged. That’s for sure but still performs flawlessly. Maybe just don’t drop it. Lol.
@@BadFlashes Haha! Never dropped it. Had an early R2. Loved using it, but it was a bit fragile and unreliable. Of course it was a fraction of the price of a contemporary Leica, so not really fair comparing them directly on that level. Ended up buying an M2. Could knock in 6 inch nails with that!🤣
