  • THE ADVANCE EPSILON 9 IS SO FUN TO FLY AS A PARAGLIDING AND PARAMOTORING WING!
    I've never been to the Isle of Wight before, so it was a great way to experience the island.

      FLYINGJACK ok so .. now I wanna see you ride off a mountain and .. we’ll pretty much BASE jumping but on a mountain bike. That sounds just as safe as your usual antics eh ?

    So, where is the footage of the flight to the isle like it shows on the thumbnail? The destination seems to be like the origin with a pack of nosy cows thrown in.

    What's your wing loading on that Epsilon 9 24? Don't you find it incredibly slow compared to other PPG wings?

    • @JackPimblett
      @JackPimblett  2 роки тому

      I don’t remember but I was probably around 95-100kg all up probably. Yes the Epsilon is probably slower than your average paramotor wing but you don’t get one wing that can do everything exceptionally well without compromising in one area.

    Amazing video Jack, I've just started learning to fly a paramotor. I stopped looking at a miniplane top 80 as I thought you couldn't do a forward launch due to frame flex but I guess it's ok?

    • @JackPimblett
      @JackPimblett  5 років тому

      Thank you! Don't think it's any problem at all, most of the pressure is applied through my arms rather than the frame so I wouldn't worry about it.

    • @loums52
      @loums52 4 роки тому

      Just don't do a POWER forward...otherwise I did forwards all the time in my Miniplane...and sometimes you have no choice!

    Jack, enjoyed the vlog. So can you tell me what is the @ basic cost, excluding training, of entering into paramotoring as a beginner, & the minimum equipment required. Thanks.

    • @JackPimblett
      @JackPimblett  4 роки тому

      Thanks a lot!
      So you'll need a wing (paraglider) and a paramotor. I would say a decent paramotor will set you back around £2500 second hand and you can pick up a paramotor wing for around £1000 second hand too. Then you'll need another £300 or so for a helmet, boots and some other protective items.
      Another option is to start paragliding first which is without a motor and that's a cheaper way to get into it. Then you can get a paramotor further down the line.

      Thanks for the prompt reply, Jack. Unfortunately I live in Bomber County, (Lincolnshire), & we suffer from a lack of Paragliding venues, due to the flatness of the place, but do have a multitude of launch sites to choose from, hence my reason to go straight to Paramotoring. I have savings of £5000, which includes paying for a training course, which I believe ranges from £1k to £1.5k, so with what you have told me, I should be able to make this happen at entry level. The problem is, now I've got the means, along comes Covid -19. So once this is done & dusted, I'll be be straight out there getting trained up. Thanks again for info, stay safe, & who knows, maybe next year I'll see you in the air sometime. Regards...Rural Geeze.

      No worries at all! Yeah unfortunately CV-19 has destroyed our flying possibilities for some time but hopefully not for too long. With your savings I think you should be able to make it work, if you need any help just get in touch.

      Hi Michael,
      Being the ENB that it is, it felt really stable and safe. The wing is enjoyable to fly both in free flight and with motor.

    Hey Jack, cracking video! I was just wondering, is it free airspace over to the Isle of Wight? I'm just getting into Paramotoring and would love to fly from Southampton to the Island but don't want to upset any airspace laws! Sorry if this is a dumb question (like I said I'm a brand newbie to this sport! ). Thanks in advance 👍

    • @JackPimblett
      @JackPimblett  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Jason! Really great to hear you’re getting into the sport. As long as you obey air law, all good to cross over. There is a small airport on the island so just steer clear of that. Hope you have a great day!

    Hey great video I really want to get into paramotoring tell me is there clubs you join and can you rent everything while saving to buy everything.

    • @JackPimblett
      @JackPimblett  2 роки тому

      Hi mate! Yes there are clubs and stuff but typically you will learn through a school and they will allow you to use their equipment during that process. Unfortunately not many allow for rental after that but it’ll take a little while to get signed off anyway.

    Is it safe to go over that amount of water?

    • @JackPimblett
      @JackPimblett  3 роки тому +1

      In the case of this video, yes. We had life jackets on just in case but the most important part is that before making the crossing, we got high enough to be able to glide over to the Island even if our engine cut out.
