This is the most "radio friendly" of a song that you'll hear by Spiritbox. For real... check out "Blessed Be" and "Rule of Nines" (The Version of Courtney singing live is AMAZING!!!)
It's super interesting that you guys enjoyed this almost apologetically... Let me tell you... This band is very well respected in modern metal. They never miss. Look forward to you reacting to more of them
Sun Killer is a super underrated track, possibly my favorite song on the album. DEF worth checking out. Been following them for a couple years now and have really enjoyed almost everything they've been doing. Courtney is such a badass singer! 💪 Keep it up, y'all! 🤘😎
Rule of Nines is the best route to go for more Spiritbox. Similar song but a little more haunting elements in the song and a better mix of clean or harsh vocals. Awesome to see Courtney's one take of this too and how she slays as a vocalist.
This was their radio song. As others have pointed out the rest of the album is different. Definitely check out Holy Roller, Constance, Secret Garden.. or really anything by them. Great stuff. Awesome reaction as always guys!
You never know what you're going to get from spiritbox. Perennial is probably my favorite song from them. Constance is an amazingly beautiful/sad song. Belcarra is a heavy banger. They never miss.
Perennial was the first Spiritbox song I ever heard, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why it doesn't get more love from channels like this. It is absolutely gorgeous.
I'm 42. Old school metalhead. I love me some Spiritbox. This guitarist's ability to play cool, tricky riffs and make it sound mainstream is up there. If you want more female fronted metal you should check out ALEKSANDRA DJELMAS. The band's name is Destiny Potato, but don't let that fool you. Crazy good guitarist named David Maxim Micic. He's big in the instrumental guitar metal scene. They're from Serbia.
Love that you’re doing Spiritbox! I’m going to see them next year in Dublin 🇮🇪 not their biggest fan to be honest, but they have some really good tracks. ‘Sun Killer’ is probably my favourite along with this one. Also, I’m going to be that guy in the UA-cam comments section….😂 Those Shure SM7B microphones that you’re using are fantastic. However, I’ve noticed that the way you guys are using them isn’t as intended(or at least if you want to get the best audio result - which I’m assuming you do considering you have two shure Sm7Bs) 😂 but yeah, you guys have them quite far from your mouth when you’re speaking. Obviously, I can hear what you’re saying perfectly. But, I can also hear that the mic almost sounds like any other run of the mill microphone because you’re not making use of the proximity effect. The closer that mic is to your mouth, the more pronounced the low-end of your voices will be. Again, it’s not really that big of a deal & I’m really just being a nerd as I’ve spent countless hours researching that microphone to get the best sound quality out of it as possible. Apologies if this has been addressed before by another audio nerd, but regardless I love you guys and you could be using a literally potato to record audio and I’d still be watching🌞
Sun Killer is incredibly under rated IMO. It has a dark ambience during the first part of the song that creates a sense of something lurking just over the horizon (Yes. I know it's not actually ambient music, maybe atmosphere is a better word choice). And that slow steady build into the whispered phrase "sun killer sing me to sleep." Into the explosion of sound it's just perfect. It's a fantastic song that is perfect to open the album. It's the raw emotion in the songs and her voice that get to me. I can't even finish Constance because it makes me so achingly sad.
Constance is a beautiful song by them with just some really meaningful lyrics that I'd recommend. Also y'all gotta get to Dance Gavin Dance. They're one of the most creative and interesting modern prog rock bands.
Silk in the strings is one of my favorite songs in the album. But the best part is when you listen to it and some of the transitions are just so seemless like how sun killer goes into hurt you just so good.
I'm a prog guy with favorites like BTBAM, and I can jam to Spiritbox any day. They put in the work supporting and putting out banger EPs and singles, and now it's awesome they're gonna be headlining rooms up to 1500 people because Eternal Blue was a damn good debut LP.
Also, Sympathy by Too close to touch. The lead singer passed away recently and the best friend/vocalist of Bad Omens has been singing the cover on their most recent tour. It’s a heartbreaking situation and already extremely emotional song but especially in the context of the lyrics paired with the deceased’s unpublicized medical issues. Hits you right in the feels. Hope you see this 🤙
Great points at the end Ryan! I wasn't mad at this song at all when it first dropped, I thought it was kinda safe and generic but it for sure delivered in the same ways it clicked for you. Hope you guys do more modern metal, there's a lot of interesting stuff
Definitely gotta check out the song Eternal Blue. It’s right up your guys ally. Melodic, great vocals, great instrumentation. It’s also got those slow parts that Ryan loves so much 😂
If you want to check out some modern metal that is interesting, then Electric Callboy could be it. They mix techno, hardstyle, and rave music with metal. "We Got the Moves" is one of their most popular songs.
That whole spiritbox album rips. I love all metal, but spiritbox is very good. This is probably their most mainstream song. Silk in the strings, holy roller, Mara effect, secret garden are all good choices
She did a live one take performance of this song on UA-cam and I highly recommend y’all check it out. She tweaks some approaches to parts of the song and it's absolutely amazing
I love this song, and the versatility of this band. "Blessed Be" and "Secret Garden" are also excellent. This is absolutely the way to blend djent with a mainstream approach. It's still tuneful, heavy, and percussive. The vocal hook is so catchy. This song was totally on my snowboarding playlist from 2021 and every time I hear it it makes me nostalgic for shredding Lake Tahoe
Haven’t been able to stop listening to every song they’ve put out for two years now. Everything they’ve released sounds like Spiritbox but sounds different than any other of their songs
Spiritbox are very, very good at merging pop and metal sounds, but they do also mix things up. The prime example which everyone is going to mention, rightly, is Constance, which is a stand-out song for me from the last half decade
Yeah Spiritbox is something special. I actually like the live one take recording from Courtney more than the album version of this song. She shows some additional tricks there, especially at the end. Her one take recording of Rule of Nines is also awesome and their first album is pretty good in general.
Finally. This band is the truth. Love this band. They have some good jams. Secret garden is pretty dope. It's softer. Check out The Beauty in Suffering. Its heavier.
Yes! I was so psyched to see you all doing this song. Do not sleep on this band. They are so versatile. I fell in love with them a few years ago and it's been fun to see them rise up. It's funny too, because the song that kinda initially broke them out, "Holy Roller", is as metalcore as it probably gets.
Its funny to call them generic because the two of them met in their former band, iwrestledabearonce, which was super unusual, progressive and really humorous. They disbanded iwabo and came back with Spiritbox specifically to be more palatable and have more sustainable music careers. Definitely check out more of their stuff because they really know how to give a song its own unique identity. Holyroller is very heavy and the accompanying music video was filmed entirely on an iphone, definitely recommend that song along with Blessed Be, Sun Eater or Rotoscope
I discovered Spiritbox by accident one day while searching for something else on Spotify. So glad to see you guys have chosen to react to their music! I always enjoy watching your reactions!
I loved this video. Definitely thrilled to see Spiritbox make their way onto the channel. Really hoping yall check out some of their other work too. Needless to say, pick anything off of their debut album. The whole thing is flawless.
Spiritbox - Holy Roller [Live for SiriusXM] holy roller is very different . this live show will blow your mind. it's professionally done in a studio for a radio station.
Lost in Vegas are both sides of my brain. Ryan is the primitive and emotive part that digs simplicity and George represents the observant and creative side that really deconstruct the music. Fantastic duo
Spiritbox has been in the game for a short amount of time with this project, but both Courtney and Mike have been in heavy music for many years. Hence why they got popular so quick as they had already established themselves. From what I have seen and experienced, they are not often looked at poorly by "elitists". Very popular for a reason. Whole album of Eternal Blue is a masterpiece with so much diversity in it, and their newest EP is even more of that. Every song is different.
-Spiritbox Songs- With technicality: "Aphids", "Secret Garden, and "The Beauty Of Suffering" Head banging: "Holy Roller", "Hysteria", "Rotoscope", and "Hurt You" Showcasing the bands sound: "Eternal Blue", "Constance", "Sun Killer", and "Rule Of Nines"
Spiritbox is a great band in the studio and just as good live. I saw them at Red Rocks...tight music, and amazing vocals by Courtney being able to do all of it live is an awesome experience.
My lady and I saw Spiritbox opening for Mastodon and Ghost back in September and became big fans! Courtney LaPlante was actually born in my home city of Bangor, Maine!
They're a great new band. They just meld the pop aspects with metal/djenty stuff etc so well. Mike writes some beautiful atmospheric stuff on top of the great riffs. One great thing is that Courtney's vocal melodies really fit her voice. I got into them by first hearing the Yellowjacket riff on Nik Nocturnal's channel when he was playing a bunch of great new riffs, checked out the song and then saw the in studio live vocal performance of this song actually. Sounds even better than on the record, and she switched between harsh and clean's so wonderfully. Then I checked out the rest - "Blessed Be" being one of my favorites, but they've got a bunch of cool songs. Also that bass line is so good in this song.
Been following since the Logic marathon but never usually comment; I was definitely surprised when I saw you drop this. You guys also have to check out Bad omens the band for sure but the one take live version of this song is truly amazing. She transitions seamlessly with her vocals and it’s wicked to experience.
I've been listening to Spiritbox for about a year and I really dig their sound. They remind me a lot of Straight Line Stitch and Alexis Brown is all over these vocals. Check out Straight Line Stitch - Remission. Out of Tennessee, they were a Metalcore band with a black female vocalist who could beautifully bring you to tears with her sultry vocals, then rip your soul apart with her deathvox. Peace!
Hard to truly appreciate this band without watching the one take performances they have of Rule of Nines, Circle with me, Beauty of suffering etc. They really help show the songs in a new light.
Courtney has been a good friend of mine for over 10 years. When I tell you she has one of the craziest vocal ranges in the biz that is no exaggeration! Her husband is actually the guitar for the band! Also she is not new to the genre at all! Her old band is called Iweestledabearonce. They have crazy time signatures and are definitely more out there. But I wouldn’t say they are better than spirit box
From my experience Spiritbox is one of those bands that most metalheads like. They manage to combine all these different subgenres and maintain a unique sound.
Her live one take performances of Belcarra, Rule of Nines, Holy Roller, and Circle With Me are MUST SEES, MUST REACTS. In that order. Maybe do a two in one reaction video to the Belcarra music video, and then her live one take of Belcarra 👀 I feel like watching her live one takes, seeing where she started versus where she is now, how far they have come, is just amazing. I started listening to newer Spiritbox, but now I have Belcarra on repeat. I loved watching you guys react to this! More Spiritbox 😍🖤✨️
There is a reason Spiritbox are popular. They are tight as heck, they are very good songwriters, musicians, and are catchy enough to make popular sounding things. In a similar vein, but I think much better (which, of course, is very subjective) is Red Handed Denial - their songs Tresspasser, Father Said, or Empire are all worth reacting to (and each is from a different album and a very different sound from one another)
Yes! Jumped on this so quick! This is one of the more 'radio rock' songs but its a great showcase... so glad some modern metalcore made it onto the channel! Shout out to the Free Thinkers!
SPIRITBOX has a VERY diverse pallet... every song seems to be considerably different. They always sound like themselves but stylistically, they really mix it up. ROTOSCOPE, HOLY ROLLER, SUN KILLER, BLESSED BE, etc. Tye also have many songs that break from the normal, verse-shorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-chorus formula like this song is in. Also, you need to watch Courtney's one-take of CIRCLE WITH ME.
Spiritbox, in the metal community, is one of *THE* bands at the top. You need to listen to Holy Roller (and watch the vid too) Its just HARD. They have it all.
Yes, Spiritbox was great to see live! Would you guys also be able to check out Nothing More? They have a lot of great rock songs that you guys might be interested in. Maybe check out "Turn it up like" first and see
Spiritbox said they wrote Circle With Me as a love letter to metalcore. And like others said, the variety that they bring to their discography is what makes them so killer. I highly highly recommend listening to their other top songs! ALSO Courtney has a voice that's breathy but she also can hit those harsh vocals without much effort.
They are such a versatile band. Sun killer, Belcarra & Holy Roller show that more “hard sound” whereas songs like Trust Fall show off more of Courtney’s singing abilities. The Mara Effect Pt. 2 & Sun Killer are two of my favorites.
Got to see Spiritbox at Louder Than Life in Louisville this past fall…they absolutely killed it live. Despite having an earlier time slot, they were one of the best bands of the day. Another up and comer to check out is Above Snakes “Down”
Courtney's One takes of Rule of nines or Blessed Be really show why she is at the top of the female leads presently. The ability to smoothly go from growls to melodic singing is not really easy and she makes it look that way. Holy Roller would blow your mind video is creepy and its heavy!
They're a great band. They've recently just started to find a more 'popular' style to their music & this was an example. However their early work is a lot more unique. Blessed Be, Rule of Nines, Belcarra, Bleach Bath, Trust Fall, Aphids... But when you're ready, they did a 3-parter called The Mara Effect - they blend in to each other & it's a real experience! From their latest albums, Rotoscope (v catchy), Hurt You, Constance (watch the video), Secret Garden are all great. Holy Roller was a fun experiment for them to see how far they could push their growls & heavy sound - worth a listen at some point (watch the creepy video) but don't go there yet. Great band!
To get an idea of their versatility you have to check out their songs "Rotoscope", "Holy Roller" and "Constance"
Absolutely do Rotoscope. It's a banger.
@@jasonomalley and Secret Garden
I think these guys will get into them, might just take them a few different songs.
Rotoscope is the song that really got me into this band.
@@yusefknight3578 rule of nines did it for me
Blessed Be is another catchy as hell heavy song. But the title track “Eternal Blue” from this album is incredible.
please Spiritbox - Blessed Be [Live for SiriusXM] this live version!!
Top song alongside Rotoscope.
heavy lol
Catchy as all hell. :D
Blessed Be is my favorite
This is the most "radio friendly" of a song that you'll hear by Spiritbox. For real... check out "Blessed Be" and "Rule of Nines" (The Version of Courtney singing live is AMAZING!!!)
Her 90's industrial ep is pretty radio friendly
FINALLY! yesssss
courtney's live take of "rule of nines" is amazing and deserves a play as well
Yeh man, that shit gave me goosebumps she gets SO into it! Love to see that level of "going in" she just owns it
@@p4fizzle agreed!
All of her live videos are great.
Rule of nines is their best
Her “I’m going to do some singing and screamin” and “I DEED EET” 😂
What I like about this band is that every project is different. They're not afraid to experiment.
They are an unknown band so all their tracks are under rated.
Sun Killer is....killer heyyyyy
Sun Killer sing me to sleep
Sun killer is amazing
@@SophiaAphrodite they're probably one of the most popular newer metal bands, so yeah they're not unknown
Rule of Nines is the best route to go for more Spiritbox. Similar song but a little more haunting elements in the song and a better mix of clean or harsh vocals. Awesome to see Courtney's one take of this too and how she slays as a vocalist.
Whole album is a banger🤘🤘🤘
They really ate now that I 🤔
@Donovan yess it is! 👌👌Loved it, one of my favorite albums of 2021!
I bought the vinyl even if i don't have a vinyl player lol.
Had to have this masterpiece !
So is the album of your dp!!
To me the greatest single thing they have put out so far is the live in-studio recording of doing all 3 parts of The Mara Effect back to back.
AGREED, part 3 is the best.
Perennial is very underrated in terms of the songs people suggest reactors to react to.
Perennial is my favorite song of theirs as well follow closely by the Mara Effect Trilogy, Bleach Bath, and Blessed Be.
Perennial and rule of nines are just Soo good!
Perennial was the first Spiritbox song I ever heard, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why it doesn't get more love from channels like this. It is absolutely gorgeous.

I was just listening to this song about 30 or so minutes ago after not listening to this band for a while. Absolutely love this band.
Please listen to Secret Garden as well.
Also y’all need to listen to a band called Forever May Fall they are really good as well.

Those Shure SM7B microphones that you’re using are fantastic. " Jaded" by Spiritbox is a different animal by this band. Amazing instrumentation and voice performance. Love y'all.
Another band that deserves more flowers
Sleep Token
Utterly brilliant and new to the scene
Facts bruh
Yooooooo
Eh
super mid
It’s their versatility that makes em special. No song sounds alike.
Do they live one take version, makes this much more impressive.
yes
Constance is a beautiful song by them with just some really meaningful lyrics that I'd recommend. Also y'all gotta get to Dance Gavin Dance. They're one of the most creative and interesting modern prog rock bands.
Agreed to both!
The live one take version of this is insane and you appreciate her impressive vocal work even more

All I can say is HOLY ROLLER!!! The video alone is haunting haha
Saw them on the Lamb of God tour this fall and they blew away the crowd. So damn good. Courtney is a force of nature.
Finally yesss more metal core let’s gooooo please do more spiritbox. This was the best song to start with now listen to holy roller next
The version with Ryo from Crystal Lake would be dope
Check out the song unsung by helmet, its S-tier alternative metal.
There is a reason Spiritbox are popular. They are tight as heck, they are very good songwriters, musicians, and are catchy enough to make popular sounding things. In a similar vein, but I think much better (which, of course, is very subjective) is Red Handed Denial - their songs Tresspasser, Father Said, or Empire are all worth reacting to (and each is from a different album and a very different sound from one another)
Do you know how long I’ve been waiting on y’all to do Spiritbox!!!!!!! Courtney has such a complex voice & their style is really versatile.
The one take live of this performance is even crazier.
Maybe check out "Turn it up like" first and see
Oh man, I thought you guys were gonna do her one take vocal performance. It’s even better than the album recording!
This was a nice suprise didn't expect to see this one I got tickets for thuer show in April can't wait love your channel guys
Holy Roller by Spirit Box is soooooo different stylistically. It's music video too, damn....its music video is freaky.
Great band!
